44: Entering the Otherworld
Putting down his backpack, Lin Shu looked at the scenery outside the French window.
Just as Lin Shu was about to go out for a stroll,
his phone screen lit up, indicating a new message.
He opened it to find it was in the school team chat, where Lei Wu and others were inviting everyone to go out together.
"Is anyone coming out with us? I've been here a few times."
"I'm quite familiar with the area and have found some good restaurants."
Min Hu and Ling Shi were very interested in this.
They replied one after another.
"I'm in."
"Me too."
Seeing these replies, Lei Wu sent another message.
"Alright, those who want to go, come to the lobby. We'll wait for five minutes."
"It's up to you whether you come or not."
Upon seeing these messages, Lin Shu didn't hesitate.
He immediately headed to the elevator and went down to the lobby.
He was bored at the moment, so having someone lead the way was naturally the best option.
When he arrived at the lobby, he found several people already waiting.
They were Lei Wu, Li Shuheng, Min Hu, Ling Shi, and Gao Feng; none of the three girls had come down.
It seemed they had other plans.
Lin Shu directly walked towards the main group.
Seeing this, Li Shuheng softly said,
"Perfect, Lin Shu is here, so we can set off."
"I privately asked Chen Yujia and the others, and they didn't want to go out."
The others nodded upon hearing this and followed the two seniors towards the snack street by the roadside.
Near the hotel were several brightly lit snack streets, bustling with people and very lively.
The enticing aromas wafting from both sides of the street made everyone eager to try everything.
Lei Wu led the group to a stall.
The sign above read, "Grilled Ink Squid."
Most of the ingredients at these stalls were varieties from the Otherworld, considered a derivative product.
"This Grilled Ink Squid is incredibly fragrant; I try it every time I come here."
Lei Wu stared intently at the large, red squid sizzling on the grill, practically drooling.
The price wasn't expensive; one portion of squid cost 58 yuan. It was a whole squid, as big as a washbasin.
Although it would shrink by more than half later.
"Come on, everyone, try some! It's on me, don't be shy."
Lei Wu handed skewers of Grilled Ink Squid to everyone.
"Thank you, Senior Lei Wu."
Lin Shu also thanked him and received the Grilled Ink Squid.
Immediately, a rich aroma wafted over.
It was sprinkled with many seasonings, including cumin and chili powder.
Lin Shu took a bite and consumed a small half of it.
A refreshing, rich fragrance filled his mouth, greatly stimulating Lin Shu's appetite.
This monster meat was indeed delicious.
Just as Lin Shu was about to take a second bite, he felt something stir at his waist.
Looking down, it was Hei Ye.
His eyes were fixed on the Grilled Ink Squid, an expression of pitiful longing on his face.
Tuo Yao next to him didn't show such an expression, merely looking around, seemingly at nothing in particular.
"Here you go, little glutton."
Hei Ye saw it and immediately took a bite, actually devouring the entire remaining half skewer.
He truly had a big appetite. Seeing this, Lin Shu took three more skewers and then paid.
He gave two to Hei Ye and Tuo Yao, keeping one for himself.
Only then did Hei Ye calm down. The others also bought several skewers of Grilled Ink Squid.
The taste was indeed excellent.
The group walked and ate, arriving at the commercial area ahead.
Along the way, hotels were the most numerous, followed by snack stalls, and some doll shops.
Inside, they sold Beastmaster dolls, all featuring characteristic Beasts of Yan Province.
There were also a few scattered Beastmaster shops, mostly selling common Beasts from the Otherworld.
"Just look at these things; Deadwood Forest is a shattered Otherworld."
"The quality of the Beasts inside isn't very good."
Seeing their curiosity about the items in the shop, Li Shuheng reminded them.
Lin Shu's gaze also swept over, seeing small cages.
Inside were all wood-attribute Beasts.
Like withered leaf butterflies and yellow leaf grass.
The shop assistant, seeing them, enthusiastically called out,
"Come in and take a look, handsome sirs! These Beasts are all excellent."
Her words were full of praise.
Lin Shu opened his panel and checked the attributes, finding that it was indeed as Li Shuheng had said.
The quality was very ordinary, and there were no Beasts with Talents, which disappointed Lin Shu, who had hoped to find a good deal.
After all, it was a shattered-level Otherworld; Beasts above level 30 could not be born there, so it was normal not to find good Beasts.
The group wandered through the streets, experiencing the customs and traditions different from Bin Province.
Unconsciously, the time reached 9 PM.
Everyone returned to the hotel together... The time came to the next morning, and everyone was already waiting in the lobby.
After Xu Lihuang handled the check-out procedures, he entrusted everyone's luggage to the hotel.
This way, they wouldn't have to bother dragging it around.
Then, they arrived at the Otherworld entrance.
It was morning, and there weren't too many Beastmasters entering the Otherworld yet.
Xu Lihuang purchased the tickets for everyone, saving them the trouble of queuing.
Gu Zhenbang took out a few booklets and handed them to the four reserve members, including Lin Shu.
"These contain common Beasts in Deadwood Forest. You should all take a good look."
"Don't underestimate them just because their levels are low."
Lin Shu took the booklet. Inside were images of various Beasts.
Below each image were detailed annotations, including attributes, level range, habits, and weaknesses.
This information was very useful for Beastmasters new to Deadwood Forest.
A few minutes later, Xu Lihuang had finished buying all the tickets and held several maps in his hand.
"Everyone, take a map."
Xu Lihuang handed a map to Lin Shu.
This map was also a complimentary gift after purchasing the Otherworld ticket.
Lin Shu took the map and began to examine it. The map showed aFloor Plan of the Otherworld's interior.
The display was clear and concise, marking the possible locations and names of Beasts in various areas.
In the center of the map, a tower-shaped icon was marked.
Evidently, this was their target, the Trial Tower.
"Everyone, put your things away. We are entering now."
"Because it's a spatial traversal, there might be some negative reactions. Everyone, take a deep breath. Feeling a bit dizzy is normal."
Gu Zhenbang reminded the reserve members who had not yet entered an Otherworld.
Lin Shu found it a bit strange; the Beastmaster's Home was also in a shattered Otherworld, so why did he feel nothing when he entered it?
Soon, he understood why.
Passing through the transparent light curtain, he stepped into another world.
Immediately, a sensation of dizziness and disorientation surged over him.
Lin Shu felt lightheaded and nauseous, wanting to gag, but he managed to hold it back and endure.
However, the other three did not have such self-control.
Min Hu, Ling Shi, and Chu Xin all half-crouched on the ground and began to vomit.
"Ugh! Ugh!"
The sounds echoed, causing great distress to the three, as the negative effects were a bit too severe...
