11: For the sake of my family, I chose to move.
Jiang Chuan left the school and returned to his home in the slum with a heavy heart. As soon as he arrived, he saw his father standing quietly at the door, as if waiting for something. Before Jiang Chuan could even greet him, his father’s low voice entered his ears: “Boy, has the matter been settled?”
Jiang Chuan’s heart trembled. He stared wide-eyed at his father and said in disbelief, “Dad, you knew what happened to my little sister?” His tone clearly carried a hint of anger, and his eyes flashed with rage as he questioned his father.
“I knew.” His father seemed to have anticipated Jiang Chuan’s reaction. He nodded calmly and spoke slowly.
“Why?” Jiang Chuan’s gaze sharpened. He stared intently at his father and asked through gritted teeth.
“I went to the school after I found out about this, but the school was completely incapable of handling the situation. Furthermore, you should know that those people have complicated backgrounds. If I tried to handle this through the Official Authorities, not only would it fail to help Xiao Xiao, but it might also put her in an even more dangerous situation.”
His father gave Jiang Chuan a deep look, knowing his temperament. After a moment of silence, he decided to tell him the truth.
“Then what did you plan to do?” Jiang Chuan’s fists were clenched, and his body trembled slightly. After a long silence, he pressed for an answer.
“I had already planned to make them disappear forever, but I didn’t expect you to suddenly come back. I overheard your conversation with Xiao Xiao and decided to see if you could solve the problem. If not, I would have had to handle it my way.”
His father sighed softly, a trace of determination flashing in his eyes.
Jiang Chuan was shocked internally upon hearing this. He hadn’t expected his father to have made such preparations. Fortunately, he had returned in time, otherwise, if his father had truly carried out that plan, there would have been no turning back.
“Don’t worry, Dad, I have already settled the matter. Those people have paid the price they deserved, and Xiao Xiao can happily continue her schooling.”
Knowing his father's intentions, Jiang Chuan reassured him that the matter was already handled and he should relax.
“Good.” His father trusted Jiang Chuan completely, and a relieved smile appeared on his face.
“Dad, this place is not good for my little sister’s future. Let’s move,” Jiang Chuan said, looking at his father.
Jiang Chuan knew that his little sister was often harassed by hoodlums, which worried him greatly. He felt that such an environment was detrimental to her growth and future development, so he decided to suggest moving to his father.
“Alright.” Hearing Jiang Chuan’s suggestion to move, his father agreed without hesitation.
“Alright?!” Jiang Chuan’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked at his father. He had expected his father to refuse or hesitate, but he hadn't expected him to agree so quickly.
“Dad, you agreed,” Jiang Chuan said disbelievingly, even suspecting that he had misheard.
Jiang Chuan felt a surge of pleasant surprise. He had originally thought his father would stubbornly insist on staying in this place. After all, his father had once said he would never move in his lifetime. He often said that a golden nest or a silver nest was not as good as his own dog kennel, and even if this place was dilapidated, it was still his home. Moreover, his father was accustomed to staying here and had once declared that he would die here if necessary.
But now, his father had actually changed his mind, which made Jiang Chuan feel both surprised and comforted. He understood that although his father was stubborn, he chose to compromise for the sake of his family having a better life.
“Dad! Then let’s quickly pack up and leave this place.” Fearing his father might change his mind, Jiang Chuan urged him impatiently.
His father looked at Jiang Chuan’s excited expression, then glanced at his own dilapidated house. Finally, he sighed, packed all the things they needed to take, and the two prepared to leave immediately.
Jiang Chuan watched as his father finished packing the items they needed to take. Since there weren't many things, Jiang Chuan made a phone call and summoned a private car to pick them up and take them away.
“Excuse me, are you the gentleman for 6682?” “That’s right, that’s me. Let’s go.” Jiang Chuan helped his father into the car and smiled as he spoke to the driver.
“Sir, are you sure we are going to the Tenglong Residential Area?” The driver glanced in the mirror at Jiang Chuan, who was dressed plainly, and his father, who looked rather shabby in patched clothes, and couldn’t help but ask.
“Yes, just take us there directly.” Jiang Chuan paid no mind to the driver’s surprise and replied calmly.
“Alright, please fasten your seatbelts.” The driver didn’t say anything further and drove directly out of the slum and headed for the Tenglong Residential Area.
“Son, the new place you mentioned, is it this place?” Although his father didn't know the status of the Tenglong Residential Area, seeing the rows of detached villas before him, he knew this was the legendary rich area, and he couldn't help but look at Jiang Chuan beside him and ask.
“Yes, Dad, this will be our new home from now on.” “I told you, didn’t I? I’ve made it these past few years. We don’t have to live hard lives anymore.”
Seeing his father’s shocked expression, Jiang Chuan smiled and nodded, leading his father, ready to enter the Tenglong Residential Area.
Hearing Jiang Chuan’s words, his father was momentarily speechless, only numbly following Jiang Chuan to the security gate.
“Stop, outsiders are forbidden from entering the community.” Jiang Chuan and his father arrived at the community entrance, and two security guards stepped out, blocking them.
His father watched as they were stopped. He glanced at Jiang Chuan, saw his calm expression, and realized Jiang Chuan could handle it, so he didn’t say anything.
“I am the owner of Villa Number One. My name is Jiang Liu. You should have my information and photo here.”
Jiang Chuan looked at the two security guards who had intercepted them outside. He didn't say much, as this was their duty.
“Alright, Mr. Jiang, please wait a moment.”
When the two young security guards heard that Jiang Chuan was the owner of Villa Number One, they looked at him, surprised that he was as young as they were. They knew that Villa Number One had recently changed hands and knew the owner's surname, but they did not know his specific full name or appearance. After all, this was an owner’s secret, and generally, they were not allowed to view the information left by the owner, except in situations like today.
“We are extremely sorry, Mr. Jiang. We didn’t recognize you right away. This is our negligence!” One security guard checked Jiang Chuan’s information and immediately realized that Jiang Chuan was indeed the owner of Villa Number One. He quickly stepped out, bowed deeply to Mr. Jiang, and expressed his apologies.
“It’s fine. I just moved here, so it’s normal that you don’t recognize me. This is my father, and he will be living here from now on, as will my little sister. Please register their identification information.”
Jiang Chuan smiled lightly at the security guard’s sincere apology, saying he wouldn't pursue the matter, and instead asked them to help register his father and little sister.
“Mr. Jiang, this is what we should be doing.” “Uncle, please come with me to register your information.”
The two security guards invited the pair to the security booth, quickly registered the information for the father and little sister, and one guard personally escorted Jiang Chuan and his father to Villa Number One.
