215: Chapter 214 The bodyguard pretends not to recognize his own shop
The next morning at 10:00 AM.
Qin Feng parked the maybach right at the main entrance of the Jinling International Supercar Center.
He had looked this place up last night. It spanned three thousand square meters and was the only top-tier showroom in Jinling capable of displaying Bugatti, pagani, and Koenigsegg all at once.
Gu Qianqian stepped out of the passenger seat, having changed into a cream-white slim-fit suit skirt paired with nude-colored pointed-toe heels, her hair tied back into a neat low ponytail.
Shen Bingtong emerged from the back seat, wearing a black motorcycle leather jacket, black cargo pants, and combat boots.
The three of them walked toward the showroom's main entrance.
Shen Bingtong's footsteps paused in front of the revolving door.
Her gaze swept across the massive sign above the showroom entrance: "Hanyu International Supercar Center."
Hanyu.
One of the core assets of the Shen Family's external affairs.
Shen Bingtong's right eyelid twitched.
She turned her head to glance at Qin Feng, wondering if he had done this on purpose, knowing her identity.
Qin Feng naturally knew Shen Bingtong's identity, but he had chosen this shop simply because it was the most luxuriously decorated.
Luxury meant spending more money, and spending more money meant getting more rebates.
Gu Qianqian had already pushed the door open and entered.
Shen Bingtong lowered the brim of her hat and followed her in.
The lighting inside the showroom was kept extremely low, with spotlights only hitting the car bodies, making every supercar look like a museum exhibit.
An orange McLaren 720S was parked to the right of the entrance, next to a silver-gray Aston Martin DBS.
Gu Qianqian scanned the area and, without stopping, walked straight inside.
Qin Feng followed to her right, his eyes scanning all over the showroom.
The sound of leather shoes clicking against marble echoed from deep within the showroom.
A man in his forties walked over quickly, dressed in a formal suit with a golden store manager nameplate pinned to his chest, which read "Zhou Hai."
Zhou Hai's professional smile had just formed on his face when his gaze passed over Qin Feng's shoulder and landed on the woman in the black baseball cap behind him.
His pupils constricted violently.
Even with a hat on, he could recognize that face out of a hundred people at a single glance.
Shen Bingtong.
The Eldest Miss of the Shen Family.
The very "Great Aunt" to whom he had to personally report revenue data at the Shen Family's ancestral home every month.
Zhou Hai's knees instinctively buckled by two inches.
His mouth opened, the shape for the word "Eldest" (Da) already formed.
Shen Bingtong's gaze changed in that instant.
Using Gu Qianqian's body to block Qin Feng's line of sight, she pulled her right hand out of her leather jacket pocket and made a sharp, horizontal cutting gesture at her waist.
The hand-blade swiped from left to right, crisp and decisive.
The meaning was clear: if you dare speak, I'll cut out your tongue.
Zhou Hai's knees snapped straight as if they had been hit by an electric shock.
The word "Eldest" was forced back down his throat, choking him so hard he almost coughed.
Why was this Great Aunt here? And why was she following behind someone else?
Could it be... the Eldest Miss was on some secret mission and must not reveal her identity?
As soon as this thought flashed through his mind, Zhou Hai saw Shen Bingtong's gaze become even colder.
“Welcome!” Zhou Hai's voice jumped an octave, the end of it still trembling. “Are you here to look at cars?”
Qin Feng turned around and sized up Zhou Hai.
This manager's expression wasn't quite right; why was there so much sweat on his forehead?
He raised his hand to look at the prompt above Zhou Hai's head.
Oh.
Understood.
An employee bumping into his own boss and having to pretend he doesn't know her.
Qin Feng stuffed his hands into his pockets and turned to look at a white Porsche nearby.
He was holding back a laugh.
Gu Qianqian didn't notice these details; she had already walked to the middle of the showroom and stopped in front of a red Ferrari F8 Tributo.
“How about this one?” Gu Qianqian looked back at Shen Bingtong.
Shen Bingtong walked over and circled the red Ferrari halfway.
“Too red.”
“What's wrong with red?”
“If I drive this behind your maybach, the whole street will be looking at me,” Shen Bingtong said flatly. “A bodyguard doesn't need to turn heads.”
Gu Qianqian thought about it and nodded.
“Makes sense.”
Qin Feng strolled over from the Porsche, his hands still in his pockets.
“A bodyguard complaining a car is too flashy—that's a first.”
Shen Bingtong glanced at him but didn't respond.
Zhou Hai followed the three of them, clutching the introduction brochures so hard his knuckles turned white.
His brain was working at high speed.
Why was the Eldest Miss mixed up with people from the Qinsheng Group?
And being called a "bodyguard"?
What exactly was going on?
Should he report this? To whom? The Eldest Miss was right in front of him!
Zhou Hai's back was already soaked with sweat.
He forced himself to maintain a smile.
“Sir, which brand are you interested in? We have McLarens, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Aston Martins in stock.”
Qin Feng casually pointed at the Lamborghini from earlier.
“How much is that one?”
“The Huracán EVO, 4.8 million out the door,” Zhou Hai answered rapidly.
“Too cheap,” Qin Feng shook his head.
4.8 million is too cheap?
As expected, the Eldest Miss was accompanying some big shot; he definitely had to serve him well.
Qin Feng walked further in along the showroom's center axis.
His gaze passed over the neatly arranged supercars and fixed on the deepest part of the showroom.
The lighting there was three shades brighter than in the other areas.
A circle of dark red velvet ropes cordoned off a single car.
Spotlights shone down from four angles, making the carbon fiber patterns on the body look like flowing black water under the light.
Qin Feng approached the railing and looked down at the nameplate.
pagani Huayra BC.
Carbon Fiber Black Knight Special Edition.
Limited to twenty units worldwide.
Below the nameplate was a line of small text—"Not for Sale / For Display Only."
Qin Feng looked up.
Gu Qianqian followed, her gaze falling on the pagani, her brows arching slightly.
“It's beautiful, but this car isn't for sale.”
“Who says it's not for sale?”
“It's written right there, 'Not for Sale',” Gu Qianqian pointed at the nameplate.
Qin Feng tilted his head to look at Zhou Hai.
“How much for this car?”
Zhou Hai's face instantly froze.
This Huayra BC was a treasure the Shen Family had specifically ordered from Europe to be the centerpiece of the store, a global limited edition used to maintain the shop's prestige.
Sell it? The showroom's status would drop two levels immediately.
Not sell it? Standing behind this gentleman was the Eldest Miss herself.
Zhou Hai's eyes darted frantically toward Shen Bingtong.
Shen Bingtong stood two steps away from the railing, hands in her pockets, expressionless.
Zhou Hai couldn't read any instructions from her face.
His Adam's apple bobbed twice.
“Sir, this car is our centerpiece display car; in principle, it is not for sale to the public...”
“I asked how much it is,” Qin Feng interrupted him.
Zhou Hai's shirt collar was darkening from sweat.
“If... if a quote must be given, the market reference price is around 38 million.”
“38 million,” Qin Feng nodded. “How much roughly including taxes and registration?”
Zhou Hai's throat was so dry it felt like it was smoking.
“Between 42 and 45 million.”
This figure pinned several other customers who had wandered over to watch the excitement right to the spot.
A middle-aged man with gold-rimmed glasses, holding a cup of sparkling water provided by the showroom, forgot to drink as he held the cup to his lips.
The female companion beside him, wearing a mink coat, tugged at his sleeve.
“Hubby, this car is over 40 million?”
“Shh,” the man in gold-rimmed glasses lowered his voice. “Just watch.”
Qin Feng turned back to look at Shen Bingtong.
“What do you think?”
Shen Bingtong's gaze swept from the front of the pagani to the rear, then back again.
She was too familiar with this car.
When it was shipped back from Italy last year, she had personally signed the customs clearance documents.
It was raining heavily the day it arrived at the port; the dockworkers had wrapped it in three layers of waterproof cloth before they dared to lift it.
“Too expensive,” Shen Bingtong spoke, her pace slightly faster than usual. “Just buy a normal one.”
Qin Feng raised an eyebrow. “It's not you paying.”
Shen Bingtong pursed her lips and remained silent.
Gu Qianqian looked at Qin Feng, then at Shen Bingtong, feeling that something was off about the conversation between these two.
“Qin Feng, you're buying a 40-million-dollar car for a bodyguard?”
“What's wrong with that?”
“Do you think that's reasonable?”
“A bodyguard driving a pagani—how much prestige is that?”
Gu Qianqian swallowed the words she was about to say.
Anyway, it was his money; she couldn't control it.
Standing by the railing, Zhou Hai cast his gaze toward Shen Bingtong once more.
This time, Shen Bingtong finally gave him a response.
She gave an almost imperceptible shake of her head.
Zhou Hai instantly received the command: do not sell.
He summoned his courage and cleared his throat.
“Sir, I'm sorry, but this car is indeed not for sale. Our headquarters has regulations that centerpiece display cars do not participate in any form of transaction.”
Qin Feng lowered his head and chuckled.
He had seen Shen Bingtong's head shake just now.
He also saw the look of relief on Zhou Hai's face.
If the Eldest Miss wouldn't let him sell her own property, the manager naturally wouldn't dare to sell it.
Qin Feng didn't expose them and withdrew his gaze.
He turned and scanned the showroom.
“Fine, if this one isn't for sale, what else do you have here that's worth showing?”
Zhou Hai wiped the sweat from his forehead and quickly led the way.
“This way please, we have a few other limited editions you can look at.”
Qin Feng followed for two steps, then suddenly stopped and looked back to say something to Shen Bingtong.
“If you don't like anything too flashy, pick one yourself, as long as it doesn't exceed twenty million.”
Shen Bingtong's eyelid twitched.
Twenty million?
In her own family's shop, using someone else's money to buy a car for herself?
The scene was so absurd she wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
Qin Feng had already turned and walked away.
His silhouette moved through the row of supercars, his pace casual, hands in his pockets.
The curve at the corner of his mouth hadn't faded.
This trip today was worth it.
