12: Chapter 12 Going to School with Qianmo
"Beep beep! Grandpa, get up! Grandpa, get up!"
As the sky was just beginning to brighten, a somewhat familiar ringtone groggily woke Xing Yaoyan from her comfortable dog bed.
Qian Mo, who had long since woken up and finished washing up, looked at his little wolf cub's adorable daze with amusement, silently praising the merchant who sold him the dog bed yesterday.
Qian Mo had originally planned to buy this dog bed after school yesterday as a surprise for Xing Yaoyan, but unfortunately, due to an incident at school, classes were suspended for a day. Luckily for that accident, otherwise, she really would have been in grave danger.
He turned around, picked up his backpack, placed it in front of Xing Yaoyan, and opened it.
He had decided yesterday that he didn't feel comfortable leaving Xing Yaoyan home alone. Besides, a little wolf cub like her—who could speak but had no Spiritual Power or Demonic Power and loved eating blank Spirit Crystals—wasn't likely to be targeted by the Security Bureau.
Furthermore, he still had the Contract Scroll rewarded by the System. If things went south, he could display the War Mark on his hand via the scroll to show that this little wolf already had a master. Of course, as for the final step of the contract—'using blood as a guide, resonating the War Mark'—it was better to wait until she agreed.
On the other side, looking at the soft cushion the boy had carefully laid out in the backpack's compartment, Xing Yaoyan suddenly felt the noble sensation of being a cat master, even though she wasn't a cat.
After some rhythmic jolting, a ray of warm sunlight filtered through the gap in the backpack.
Xing Yaoyan cautiously poked her head out of the bag, curiously watching the scenery flash by on the road.
Gradually, she became so mesmerized that she didn't even realize they had reached their destination.
"Qian Mo! Qian Mo!"
A breathless voice sounded from behind Xing Yaoyan.
"How do you still dare to come to school? Liu Yan's gang is blocking the gate... Eh? Is this little wolf cub a new pet you're raising? I'm telling you, although our school doesn't forbid bringing Spirit Pets, you know Liu Yan and his group's style..."
Xing Yaoyan turned her head curiously and saw a blond guy leaning on Qian Mo's shoulder, whispering something with a worried expression.
"It's fine, we'll go through the main gate."
Qian Mo's flat tone revealed his confidence.
"Ah... this..."
"Also, thank you, Yun Lan."
Hearing this, Yun Lan hesitated for a moment before letting out a helpless sigh.
He then stepped aside, revealing the group of figures blocking the school entrance.
"Yo! Look who's here? Tsk tsk tsk, the trash with no Innate Spiritual Power, the 'connection hire' who used his relations to squeeze into the Superpower High School. It seems the beating a few days ago wasn't painful enough to make you realize the gap between us..."
Qian Mo slowly and gently set the backpack down to the side.
"One by one, or all together? I'm in a hurry."
"Yo! Your brain must be broken."
"Haha! Boss, did you hit him so hard he went stupid?"
"Don't talk nonsense. Abnormal kids like him with no Innate Spiritual Power always have IQ issues. Hahaha..."
Amidst the mockery, Qian Mo remained as steady as a monk in meditation; even his breathing rhythm didn't change.
As an assassin in his past life, he had long ago learned to block out external interference, patiently seeking an opportunity to eventually slit an enemy's throat with one strike.
"Damn, you really think you're hot stuff, don't you? If this punch doesn't send you flying, my last name isn't Liu!"
He spread his legs slightly, a weak fluctuation of Spiritual Power manifesting. Then, with a loud shout, he charged straight ahead and threw a punch at Qian Mo's fair face.
Watching the battle from inside the bag, Xing Yaoyan let out a small yawn. This weak Spiritual Power fluctuation was child's play compared to that hulking man and the snake demon. She believed that as long as the boy used his strange Superpower even slightly, he could quickly finish off this clown.
Three meters, two meters, one meter...
Wait! Why isn't this idiot using his Superpower! And there isn't a single ripple of Spiritual Power on him. One should know that even a bit of Spiritual Power can increase one's overall strength several times over. Qian Mo's approach was like a defenseless child facing a muscular brute; the outcome was predictable.
The Power Of Will in her sea of spirit fluctuated violently for a moment but was quickly suppressed.
I can't use Power Of Will! Anyway, students won't kill each other in a fight. Let this idiot learn his lesson.
But soon, her worried expression instantly turned into extreme shock.
Slap! Thud! Boom!
From her perspective, the boy first used a parrying hand to deflect Liu Yan's heavy punch to the side, then followed through by turning and striking with his elbow, hitting Liu Yan square in the temple. While Liu Yan was seeing stars and losing his balance, the boy grabbed him around the waist from behind and finished him with a German Suplex.
Xing Yaoyan watched blankly as the boy finished his smooth combo, her paws unconsciously clapping together.
In the eyes of Liu Yan's lackeys, their vision just blurred for a moment before their boss was somehow lying sprawled on the ground for no apparent reason.
"Next," Qian Mo said coldly.
"Hey! Kid, don't get cocky..."
Slap!
"You're very arrogant..."
Slap!
"Don't come over here..."
Slap!
...
Looking at the several figures writhing on the ground, Qian Mo silently went back to pick up the backpack he had set aside. He reached in to pat his little wolf cub's head, then strode through the school gates under the admiring gazes of the other students.
"Holy crap! Brother! That was amazing! You were acting like your own father's son before!"
Yun Lan threw an arm around Qian Mo's shoulder, his enthusiastic manner looking as if he were showing off his brother to everyone else.
However, his boisterous behavior caused dissatisfaction in one person—no, one wolf.
As Yun Lan leaned in, Xing Yaoyan felt her living space being unfairly encroached upon inside the bag, so she irritably threw a punch at the rude fellow.
"Quick, tell me, those moves... ugh..."
His best friend's words came to a screeching halt.
Qian Mo glanced sideways and saw him with a face like he was constipated, his body trembling slightly. The hand that had been on Qian Mo's shoulder was now clutching his own waist.
"Brother... your Spirit Pet... forget it, watch out for your kidneys in the future..."
Seeing this, Qian Mo guessed the cause; this guy must have annoyed Xiao Yan and received a small punishment. But according to the original owner's memory, his best friend's Spiritual Power had already reached one hundred, and he was just waiting for his Superpower Awakening in two months.
His physical fitness should be far higher than a normal person's. A strike from an ordinary Spirit Pet without Spiritual Power shouldn't have been able to break his defense...
Seeing the boy deep in thought, Yun Lan thought his friend was worried about retaliation, so he immediately patted his chest and said:
"Don't worry, our school values strength above all else. They were just inferior in skill; there's no need to care. Besides, the Liu family won't trouble you over such an embarrassing matter. Plus, you have me."
Qian Mo looked at the only person in the whole school who was friendly to him and his determined expression, then gave a knowing smile.
In the original owner's memory, Yun Lan was just an ordinary transfer student. Although he had strength, he always avoided fighting, and school bullies like Liu Yan wouldn't actively look for trouble with him because of his power. As for backing him up... Qian Mo appreciated the sentiment, but this was a personal grudge between him and Liu Yan; there was no need to involve others.
Hmph! The Liu family, is it... bring it on... if you dare...
