7: Chapter 7 The Serpent Demon's Innate Talent
In the original host's memories, to uncover the truth behind his parents' deaths, Qian Mo had long ago committed the various Innate Talents of the Yao Race to heart.
Looking at the snake yao before him, performing strange movements with a mouth full of blood and a slight smirk, Qian Mo swallowed hard in secret.
Now, his spiritual power was depleted, bringing with it a state of mental trance. Although he had encountered similar situations as an assassin in his past life and had always brilliantly dispatched his opponents...
But...
The opponent was a Rank Three snake yao...
Suddenly, dense cracks began to crawl across the snake yao's body. Then, a series of "cracks" and "snaps" rang out...
Qian Mo's expression turned solemn because he knew this was the snake yao's Innate Talent—Snake Sloughing.
Qian Mo forced his weakened body up, grabbed a fruit knife from the table, and limped toward the snake yao's "corpse," where the cracking sounds were becoming increasingly frequent.
He had to deliver the finishing blow before the "Snake Sloughing" was complete.
Fortunately, the time for a Snake Sloughing usually started at several minutes; he had enough time.
Qian Mo finally reached the snake yao's "corpse," raised his knife, and lunged downward with a fierce thrust.
Clang!
The sound of metal clashing rang out.
Qian Mo was sent flying backward by the counter-shock, slamming heavily onto the ground.
"Damn! What a coincidence, the part of him that mutated just happened to be the Snake Sloughing duration."
It turned out that the Innate Talents of Yao Beasts were just a general term; every yao of the same race would undergo different degrees of mutation based on their basic Innate Talent, forming their own unique version.
Slightly different from human Superpowers, every yao possessed an Innate Talent, whereas humans indeed required an Acquired Awakening.
Before the already battered Qian Mo could catch his breath, the snake yao, who had been lying flat, suddenly sprang to his feet with a kip-up.
A terrifying Aura surged from his body.
He had developed a killing intent!
To hell with some bullshit young master! To hell with those reservations!
A mere Rank One Esper actually forced me to use my Innate Talent!
You deserve to die! Die! Die! Die! Die!
It was no wonder he was so furious.
"Snake Sloughing" is only triggered when a snake yao is on the verge of death. Once used, the snake yao gains a 200% boost to all attributes.
The price is that after the empowerment, the snake yao enters a weakened phase for a certain period, during which all attributes drop by 50%, and the Innate Talent "Snake Sloughing" cannot be used again.
"Did I trigger his Guardian Angel and make him snap..."
Qian Mo watched the snake yao's face, twisted to the extreme with rage, as he gradually approached, and let out a bitter smile.
If this were my past life, I would have made thorough preparations after discovering someone had entered my home, or at the very least, called the police in advance.
But... the thought of her being in the house made me unable to resist just charging straight in...
Now it seems I'm about to die... But the System said you're still alive, just hiding. I hope the aftershocks of the battle can attract the attention of people nearby...
Xing Yaoyan, you must stay hidden...
Qian Mo thought to himself.
But he also knew that this house was a somewhat remote self-built home with few people within a kilometer, let alone anyone happening to notice this brief ten-second fluctuation of spiritual power.
Just as the snake yao raised his right hand and swung down his claws, which were condensed with green Demonic Power...
Clang!
A silver meteor flashed before Qian Mo's eyes, parrying the giant green claw wrapped in the Aura of death. It then slammed into the floor, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
My house... Bah, I'm still being influenced by the original host's memories...
Through the dust, Qian Mo could vaguely see a silver spear radiating a sharp, piercing Aura.
The snake yao was also sent staggering back a few steps by the immense force of the meteor.
He spat inwardly.
"Tch! Scum from the Security Bureau!"
The snake yao rubbed his somewhat numb right hand and, through the large hole in the wall, warily stared at the figure in a black trench coat outside.
As the dust settled slightly, he finally saw the figure's true form: a young girl with long black hair, a charming smile, and a curvaceous figure.
Most importantly, he saw the glaring Silver Dragon pattern on her shoulder.
Thump!
Infinite pressure instantly exploded in the snake yao's heart.
"A Rank Three snake yao? How lucky."
"Silver Dragon Enforcer... Rank... Rank Five..." The snake yao swallowed hard.
He knew that for a Rank Five Esper, the detection range of spiritual power was a full ten kilometers.
There was no escaping. If he wanted to live, his only choice was to fight it out using the 200% attribute bonus from his Innate Talent!
"This body has fallen into the abyss, but the abyss shall tremble because of me! If you cannot bury me today, I shall surely crush the peak of this desperate situation in the future!"
Green Demonic Power condensed on the snake yao's body, bringing with it gusts of foul wind. His muscles bulged rapidly, and his entire frame instantly grew a size larger.
"Ah-la-la, why act so cool? It makes it look like I'm the villain..."
The Enforcer girl giggled, covering her mouth.
"Seeing my Silver Dragon pattern and preparing for a desperate struggle, are we? But let me tell you a secret..."
The snake yao felt a flash before his eyes, and the girl's beautiful face instantly appeared right in front of him.
"So fast!"
"I'm actually Rank Three just like you~" the girl whispered.
Boom!
In the eyes of Qian Mo nearby, he only saw a blurred silver shadow flash behind the girl, and then a human-shaped hole appeared in the floor.
Crack... Snap... Strange sounds came from all directions of the house.
"Uh oh, I used too much force, hehe..." The girl rubbed the back of her head and turned to give Qian Mo an embarrassed smile.
Rumble!
The entire house finally succumbed to the burden and completely collapsed.
Fortunately, the girl quickly propped up a massive silver-white protective shield, which prevented the roof from crashing straight down, causing it to slide outside the house instead.
Cough, cough!
When the last of the dust cleared, the girl had somehow moved to the side and was staring with a look of doubt at the white furball she was holding in her hand.
Xing Yaoyan was currently flailing her limbs weakly, but since she was being held by the scruff of her neck, she could only vent her rage powerlessly.
"Hey! Who are you? Why are you here? And put my family down!"
"Ah, oh... Sorry, little brother—er, no, I mean, sir. I am an intern Enforcer from the Youfeng City Security Bureau, specifically handling cases involving malicious Espers and the Yao Race. My name is Li Qiaoyan..."
Captain Li Qiaoyan hurriedly placed Xing Yaoyan onto a pile of clean bedding and even thoughtfully patted away the non-existent dust on her.
"Wait, that's not right... Sir, if you don't know why I'm here, then didn't you send the Security Bureau's exclusive distress signal?"
