81: Chapter 81 Bad Luck
In the once deathly silent desert.
A blue light flashed across the sky.
The next moment, countless dark red eyes opened in the darkness, carefully inspecting the direction where the anomaly had just occurred.
But to their surprise, there was nothing there, as if the blue light that had just flashed by was merely their hallucination.
Consequently, they gradually stopped peering, suppressed their aura to the lowest level, returned to their previous state of lurking, and waited for the next prey to appear.
On the small hill where the blue light had flashed by, Xing Yaoyan, who was hiding there, felt the surrounding malicious red color slowly fading away.
"Whew~"
She breathed a small sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the moment she was teleported, she activated "Concealment" mode and used the Star Swallowing Art to swallow her own presence, thus escaping a disaster.
After feigning death for ten minutes until the malice disappeared and confirming that she had attracted no attention at all, Xing Yaoyan slowly climbed up and looked around the hill.
She had to know her current location.
And upon seeing a massive desert to her right, her hanging heart finally settled.
"Fortunately, this is located in the border zone between the Kingdom of Myriad Demons and the Human Alliance; that desert was originally a huge Spiritual Vein mine. It's only about a hundred miles from the Kingdom of Myriad Demons, not too far."
Having studied the world map for two months, Xing Yaoyan recognized her current territory almost instantly.
"But I still need to be careful; this is also a mining area within the Human Alliance's sphere of influence, so it's possible to encounter an exploration team..."
Xing Yaoyan crouched down, found a hidden cave, and quickly changed into the black athletic wear she had previously stored in her storage space.
It would definitely not do to keep wearing her original white dress and white robe during this month-long trek, and maintaining those clothes consumed Power Of Will.
More importantly... deep down she was still a man; what kind of man likes to wear a dress for no reason!
She casually tied her long white hair into a high ponytail.
Having finished her preparations, Xing Yaoyan began to move.
She needed to cross this desert and walk along the direction of the mineral vein. Generally speaking, high-level Star Beasts or Vicious Beasts would not appear here; the only thing she needed to guard against was the Human Alliance's exploration teams.
Xing Yaoyan walked very carefully. Although she did not sense any malice in this desert, the unpredictable quicksand and sandstorms would still cost her quite a bit of effort.
Fortunately, she had learned some basic Cultivation Technique, which allowed her to generate a small Demonic Power shield to envelop herself, reducing moisture loss and blocking the scorching sun; otherwise, the situation might have been even worse.
"Rumble!"
A dull sound came from the distance.
A blue dot emitting spiritual energy appeared on the horizon in the distance.
As it approached, Xing Yaoyan saw clearly that it was a mecha vehicle!
"You've got to be kidding me..."
She had thought she would only see people after walking out of this desert; she did not expect anyone to come to this abandoned mine.
"I need to slip away quickly..."
Xing Yaoyan knew that such mecha vehicles were equipped with precise detection radar and thermal imaging, which could detect and identify life activities within a certain range.
Although she had great confidence in her Star Swallowing Art, she dared not gamble at all.
Caution is the parent of safety; she would stick to her "survival" strategy to the end.
But plans never keep up with changes.
Just as she was slowly retreating, she suddenly felt her feet slip, and everything below her waist instantly sank into the sand.
"Quicksand!"
Xing Yaoyan broke out in a cold sweat.
Her attention had been entirely on the mecha vehicle, so she had not paid attention to the terrain around her at all.
"It's okay, fortunately it's not too deep..."
"Boom!"
The mecha vehicle, for some unknown reason, suddenly engaged a nitrogen boost.
The next moment, the entire desert within a one-kilometer radius was affected by the vibrations caused by this.
A massive quicksand vortex slowly formed.
"No way, are you out of your mind! Making such a huge commotion in this kind of terrain, do you want to die!"
Feeling the sinking speed suddenly accelerate, Xing Yaoyan could no longer hold back and started cursing loudly.
But this voice, not wrapped in Power Of Will, was quickly completely swallowed by the quicksand.
Xing Yaoyan took out a pre-marked stone from her storage space, hoping to find an opportunity to leave via Swap.
But just as she looked up and around, she was completely stunned.
Everywhere she looked was sinking quicksand; she had absolutely no chance of escape.
Holding the stone, she felt a sense of "drawing one's sword and looking around in bewilderment."
The mecha vehicle also slowly sank into the quicksand; its four wheels spun rapidly, but could only kick up clouds of dust.
"Pah! Serves you right..."
Before Xing Yaoyan could finish her sentence, she saw a bright blue light suddenly erupt from the vehicle.
"Hum, hum, hum~"
A dull sound came from the sand.
To her surprise, the mecha vehicle actually halted its sinking trend and even began to rise rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"Huh?"
In the girl's astonished gaze, the mecha vehicle just flew up like that. The original four wheels flattened against the bottom of the vehicle, and four blue flames provided it with sufficient propulsion.
"Boom!"
The next moment, it suddenly accelerated, passed over Xing Yaoyan's head, and sped forward.
"Damn it! You bastard! So what if you can fly! Don't let me run into you again, otherwise..."
The yellow sand covered the girl's angry voice.
Xing Yaoyan never expected in a million years that the first crisis she would encounter would be being buried alive by sand...
...
Inside the mecha vehicle.
"Hahaha! The vehicle Big Brother gave us is so useful, it's such a blast to drive!"
A muscular man was holding the joystick with one hand while leisurely holding a cup of black coffee with the other.
"Second Brother, calm down. You're driving too fast right now; this does not match the original plan..."
The bespectacled man sitting in the passenger seat was checking the various data on the big screen.
"Third Brother, I think you've read so many books you've gone stupid. Isn't it better to drive faster? Arrive early, prepare early."
The muscular man dismissed him with disdain.
"Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, do you think Second Brother's words make sense!"
"Yes!"
In the back seat, several men raised their beers and responded loudly.
"These idiots..."
The bespectacled man shook his head.
These fools had no idea that their destination was within the Human Alliance's surveillance range, and they could only avoid radar detection by entering during a specific window period.
"Forget it, anyway, this vehicle is registered with the exploration team, it's just not that secure..."
Ignoring the other four who were partying, he slowly pulled a small notebook out of his pocket.
The pen hovered over the notebook, unable to fall for a long time.
He stared intently at the words on the notebook:
"Who am I?"
"Where was I before I was eighteen?"
"I can't remember! I can't remember!"
The pen tip finally fell, but after writing only a few words, he drew chaotic lines over them.
He closed the notebook and glanced at the three companions next to him who were still humming songs self-absorbedly; they were still the same as before.
"Maybe it's because my daily routine is too irregular..."
He shook his head and refocused his attention on the mission information on the big screen: 1. Deliver a shipment; 2. Kill a person.
