224: Ghost village!

A dense beech forest blocked the scorching sun of late summer.

On a hillside, the surroundings had been cleared, and a table was set, laden with a sumptuous feast and two sets of exquisite silver cutlery.

Four beautiful female knights held long spears, looking valiant and heroic as they gazed steadfastly at the handsome back before them.

That was their heaven—the Son of God, Jason Jean!

Jason watched the dust rising like a Dragon on the distant main road and heard the rhythmic sound of hoofbeats. He couldn't help but feel envious; all of this was originally supposed to be his.

He only wanted to experience more of the Human Realm's prosperity, but as a result, he nearly lost his title as the Son of God.

The sound of hoofbeats grew closer, and the figures in the distance came into view. A black-furred wolf king led the way, with a priest in white robes sitting upon it. Unlike ordinary priests, his collar was embroidered with gold trim.

Behind him were 38 knights on fine steeds. Except for one who was quite old, the rest were around thirty years old, in the Peak of their lives as knights.

The 38 riders were majestic, but none dared to overtake the white wolf in front. Their expressions were solemn, as if they were escorting their own deity, their Aura as powerful as a tiger swallowing ten thousand miles!

Jason's fist, hidden in his sleeve, couldn't help but clench. All of this should have been his. Why hadn't he thought of doing this before?

Beauty was not worth mentioning in the face of such dominance!

As the crowd drew closer, Jason forced a smile and shouted loudly, "Priest Spu, the weather is dry and hot. Why such a hurry? Why not come up and share a drink?"

Xu Le raised his right hand, and the troop reined in their horses in unison. Their movements were perfectly synchronized, like a well-tempered machine; the orderly line of knights showed not a hint of disarray.

"Come down and talk. I'm not used to looking up at people."

Jason nodded and jumped down the hillside with his four beautiful knights, only to see that Xu Le had no intention of dismounting his horse (wolf?).

Jason: "..."

So, you think I like looking up to speak?

Xu Le ignored the other's resentment and said bluntly, "If you have something to say, say it!"

"Right here?" Jason looked at the full 42 outsiders, plus an intelligent wolf king. This was not the script he had arranged.

He had planned to invite the fake Son of God to a feast. After they were full of food and wine, he would persuade the other to give up his seemingly prosperous but inevitably doomed charade. Then, he would magnanimously forgive the other's faults, and the other would be moved to tears, clinging to his leg and begging to follow him.

He had even thought of a title for the story—The True Son of God Forgives over a Cup of Wine, the Fake Priest Weeps and Begs to Follow.

"Speak. There's nothing that cannot be said in public!"

Xu Le had a vague impression of the man before him. Despite his handsome face, his core was filled with an unpleasant Aura. This mid-road interception left Xu Le with no patience at all.

"You..." Jason looked up, wanting to say something angry, but he felt he lacked a bit of Aura. Remembering his goal for today, he suppressed his anger. "I am Jason, Jason Jean."

"Never heard of you."

"You... you've gone too far! Too far!" Jason's face turned red instantly, and veins popped on his forehead. "I am the Son of God! The Son of God from North斯特!"

Fearing Xu Le wouldn't know, he specifically added the place name, North斯特!

He didn't notice that while the knights behind were already skeptical, after hearing him name the place, their suspicion only grew.

What kind of Son of God is limited to just one region!

"I forgive the sins you have committed in the name of God. Now, make way."

The lofty voice brooked no argument. Jason and the four female knights foolishly moved aside. Watching the grand procession depart, Jason suddenly snapped back to his senses, his face deathly pale.

It's over!

In this Reincarnation, because he was obsessed with the mortal world and neglected his Cultivation, his cultivation level was insufficient, and he had subconsciously followed the other's command. As a result... he trembled all over, killing intent churning in his heart.

Damned commoner, kill kill kill kill kill!

Seeing the female knights looking longingly at the departing figure, the gloom on Jason's face deepened... Xu Le led the 38 knights, galloping forward.

Aside from Andre, the other 37 knights were specifically arranged by those bishops to protect him.

It was both protection and a test, and a way to share in the credit.

But Xu Le didn't care. He didn't need credit; he only needed the title of Son of God, which meant a massive amount of faith.

"Jason? You should be buried in Crystal Lake, not showing off in front of me."

Xu Le suppressed the urge to kill him. There were gods in this world, and he was afraid that killing the man would attract the attention of the god of light.

"Endure a bit longer, until I've earned a bit more faith!"

Two hours later.

They arrived at a silent village.

Knight Kendi came forward. "Son of God, this is Oak Village."

Thirteen days ago, someone had rushed to the Holy See to report that the people in the entire village were very strange. No one left the village during the day, but it was exceptionally lively at night, like a Ghost Village.

The knights stood outside the village and began to cast their few Spells, but they found no trace of Devilish Qi.

Without Devilish Qi, there were only two possibilities.

First, there were no demons here, and there was no strange incident at all—it was just a prank.

Second, the demon here was very strong and had restrained all its Devilish Qi, so even light Spells could not detect it.

"Son of God, what should we do?"

Xu Le looked at the grand group of knights and smiled. What was there to hesitate about? Even if the Pope were here, they could take him down.

As they entered the Ghost Village, the wolf king growled uneasily. Xu Le slapped its back, and it finally calmed down.

Stepping into the Ghost Village, the sky suddenly darkened, as if it were night.

"A Barrier!"

Andre exclaimed.

An existence capable of setting up a Barrier was certainly no ordinary being.

Xu Le took a piece of black cloth from his robe and held it to the wolf king's nose. "Smell this. Is there the same scent here?"

"Yes, it's in that largest house."

Xu Le knew what was going on; this was again the work of the Formation Demon.

Last time he subdued the wolf king, he wanted to use its keen sense of smell to track the fleeing Formation Demon. Unfortunately, the other had fled too quickly and had already disappeared from the wolf king's tracking range.

This time, it was clearly the other's scheme. Knowing the Holy See wanted to build momentum for Xu Le, the demon had deliberately lured him here to exorcise it.

"But did you guess that I would bring so many professional knights with me this time?"

Without delay, Xu Le led the group straight to the largest house.

The Formation Demon sat in the middle of the hall, leisurely enjoying a meal. Seeing Xu Le lead the crowd in, he wasn't panicked at all; instead, he revealed a smile as if his plot had succeeded.

"I must say, the delicacies of the Human Realm are truly unforgettable!"

"Also, welcome to the Formation I've set up. Will you take ten minutes to rest, or will you immediately enjoy the first course I've carefully prepared for you?"

Seeing the Formation Demon's confident performance, the knights couldn't help but feel a chill in their hearts.

Xu Le shook his head inwardly and began to chant an incantation.

If you're going to fight, just fight. Why all the nonsense?
