238: Demon God Attack
Running away is impossible!
"Satan, still want to run?"
Xu Le let out a roar, and while casting the "Wormhole Shuttle" Skill, he "chased" after him.
Watching the Son of God disappear before their eyes, the crowd was stirred with emotion. Some clever bards had already boarded the Teleportation Array, heading to other regions to harvest (×) promote (✓) the glorious achievements of the Son of God.
Raphael landed on the spot, sensed the residual spatial fluctuations, and followed in pursuit.
...
Xiyi Continent.
As soon as Xu Le's figure appeared, he sensed a huge, terrifying force approaching from behind.
Just as he was about to release the Kunpeng, Raphael had already descended.
"Heretic, die!"
A similarly white sphere of light appeared on the Sword of Holy Light, but it carried a deadly danger.
The black mana within Spu's Divine Soul suddenly floated out of the body, transforming into a black scythe.
"Death God!"
Raphael came quickly, but ran even faster. However, the black scythe behind him did not dissipate because of his flight; instead, it slashed toward him at an even faster speed.
Sensing that all the Death God mana inside Spu had dissipated, Xu Le couldn't help but feel that he had wronged the Death God; the guy was actually quite decent.
However, if time could flow backward, he would still have to run; heaven knows what the guy was actually thinking.
Sensing a powerful deity running over from the distance, Xu Le immediately restrained his Aura, stuffed the void realm stone into a pile of rubble, and returned to the Contract Space.
The lifespan of a god is long, and unless they actively seek death, it is very difficult for them to die.
One month later.
The Ghost's angelic shell had completely healed, and Xu Le had also learned its four Spells.
Unfortunately, his main body lacked Holy Light mana. Although he could barely cast them, the effect was too poor—better than nothing.
Only when using the Spu alt could he unleash their full power.
Xu Le left the pile of rubble and discovered that this was still a region dominated by white people, so he decided to continue adventuring using the identity of Spu.
In the previous few months, he had harvested a large amount of faith, and it was still growing steadily. He felt more and more that his strategy was correct and prepared to do it again.
However, he discovered that this place was somewhat different from what he had imagined.
Compared to the peace of the Beidian Continent, where the air was suffused with the scent of Holy Light and piety, the air here was filled with fear.
What were they afraid of?
Xu Le walked into a village and could almost sense the fear of the crowd turning into something tangible.
"Elder, may I ask..."
"Ah, the Demon God is here!"
Watching the old man drop his hoe and run away quickly, Xu Le's face darkened: Aren't you all white in appearance? Why are you calling people a Demon God?
Walking into the village along the small path, chaos ensued. Everyone, as if they had seen a Ghost, dropped their work and ran toward their homes.
This speed was no worse than a landlady entering her room.
Xu Le even suspected that they would lie down on their beds and cover themselves with little blankets.
He hurriedly flapped his invisible Holy Light wings, instantly blocking a little boy.
"Little friend..."
The child fainted directly.
Damn it...
Xu Le wanted to curse, but he saw a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl cautiously shuffling over.
"Lord Demon God, can you please not eat my younger brother? I'll let you eat me instead."
The little girl was clearly very afraid, stuttering, but she still managed to say it completely.
Xu Le was speechless: "Little sister, what is your name?"
"Aisha."
"Aisha, can you tell me why you think I would eat people?"
"Demon Gods always eat people!" Aisha said as if it were a matter of course, just as naturally as saying people eat animals.
"Then why do you think I am a Demon God?"
Aisha's face turned deathly pale; she was terrified, thinking that the Demon God was even more brutal than the legends, scaring people to death before eating them.
A black cloud appeared on the horizon.
The Demon God's violent Aura was unleashed without restraint, crushing everything.
Xu Le turned his head to look and saw a mass of black mist drifting over, immediately enveloping the entire village.
A wild and unbridled voice rang in everyone's ears: "Tremble!" "Tiny insects, the hunting game starts now. Anyone who cannot hide in the temple before moonrise will be used to fill this god's stomach!"
After the Demon God finished speaking, he threw three handfuls of grass onto the ground.
Upon hitting the ground, the grass grew into grass people, some tall and some short, just like adults and children. In the darkness where one could barely see one's own fingers, they appeared even more terrifying.
Aisha's voice trembled: "You are really not a Demon God?"
Xu Le nodded: "Of course."
"Then why are you seeking death?"
Xu Le: "..."
It turned out that this place was ruled by Demon Gods. Each Demon God had their own territory, and movement between territories was prohibited.
If caught by a Demon God, one would be skinned and have their tendons pulled, their soul used as a wick for lighting, and they would suffer the torture of being burned by flames for eternity until their Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering.
It had to be said, the Demon Gods here were truly ruthless!
Xu Le couldn't help but feel his scalp tingle upon hearing this.
Aisha's younger brother was named Luke, and the three of them went together toward the temple.
The temple was a shrine dedicated to the Demon God. Normally, no one dared to go there; only when the Demon God tortured the villagers every month were they allowed to enter for shelter.
"This way, I remember the temple is in this direction."
Aisha held her brother's hand, and Xu Le followed behind them. Soon, they saw a grass person ahead.
It was wearing clothes scavenged from a villager's house, wearing a hat, with its body hunched over as it walked forward, looking like an elderly person.
"Grandpa Delin, let's go together!" Aisha held her brother's hand. Vaguely feeling that the figure ahead looked familiar, she immediately chased after it and grabbed its right leg.
Rip!
The grass person's right leg, along with its pants, was torn off. Warm grass juice splattered onto Aisha and Luke's faces, and the two immediately let out shrill screams.
Fear turned into a tangible substance, drifting into the air and being absorbed by the Demon God in the sky.
"So this is how the Demon God obtains faith." Xu Le realized.
"Give me back my leg!" The grass person ignored the sister and brother who were crying in terror and instead lunged at Xu Le.
Xu Le kicked the grass person away, as if kicking a water bag. The liquid inside its body flew everywhere—sticky, hot, and with a smell of rust.
It had to be said, this thing felt and smelled exactly like real blood, only the color was green. But in the darkness, the villagers could not tell.
"Give me back my life!"
The grass person still didn't die; its body just reverted to the appearance of a pine needle, which wouldn't be noticeable unless one looked closely.
Is this pretending to be a Ghost? Xu Le laughed: "There are no Ghosts in this world. If there really were Ghosts, the Demon God would have long since been eaten by the Ghosts of those people he ate. Don't try to fool me!"
"I am a Ghost. I fear the Demon God, but I am not afraid of a Mortal like you. I will eat you!" The grass person continued to spread terror.
Xu Le stomped on its body, crushing it.
"Eh, someone else can no longer generate fear!"
The Demon God in the sky felt a bit helpless and reached out toward Xu Le, "Then I can only eat you!"
