243: The magical artifact is in hand
Night.
The Ever-Bright Pearl illuminated the palace as if it were day. Andrew waved his hand to dismiss the two Mortal-Rank maidservants serving him and took out a Super Divine-Grade Magic-Detection Scroll.
This was a treasure that only top-tier deities could possess; a single one could be exchanged for a million believers.
The scroll was torn open, and golden light extended outward inch by inch with him as the center. It moved at a snail's pace, but it inspected every inch of space meticulously.
Fifteen minutes later, having watched the detection process silently without a hint of impatience until the last inch of space was completed and no magical reaction was found, he finally let out a contemptuous sneer.
"I had heard that my Xiyi Continent was full of powerhouses, but now it seems they are nothing special! With a Divine Artifact comparable to the Great Dao-Grade right in front of them, they don't even dare to peek."
"Heh, what powerhouses? They're clearly spineless weaklings. Give them a bone, and they'll wag their tails and beg."
"A bunch of country bumpkins, they wouldn't know a Divine Artifact if it were right in front of them."
As Andrew spoke, he plucked out his right eye and blew a breath onto it, which unexpectedly transformed into a gate of flesh and blood.
Carved upon the gate were ten thousand hideous Ghosts, lifelike and dyed completely red by the color of blood. Each malevolent Ghost had a bloody mouth and fangs, as if they were trying to squeeze through the gate.
Andrew channeled his mana, and the blood-red hue on the gate intensified. The Ghosts turned into living creatures, crowding toward the inside of the gate as if some peerless treasure lay within.
Whoosh!
The gate of flesh and blood swung open, but inside was a thick mist, making it impossible to see the world within.
The Ghost reliefs on the gate crawled to the edge of the frame, scratching their heads in anxiety, yet none dared to enter.
"Idiots! A man of wealth does not sit under the eaves. I am the Blood Marshal's most favored great-great-grandson. There are billions of ways for me to reach Level 100; why would I risk my own life?"
"Even if I lose the position of heir, I am still the high-and-mighty great-great-grandson of the Blood Marshal. My great-great-grandfather has an infinite Lifespan, enough for me to live freely for hundreds of millions of years. To gamble the wealth and prosperity I already have for something not much different—those idiots can do it if they want, but I, Andrew, will not!"
Andrew seemed to be convincing himself; as he finished speaking, he slammed the gate of flesh and blood shut.
Without mana support, the Ghost reliefs on the gate all turned back into inanimate objects, returning to their original positions and ceasing to move.
Andrew reached out, and the gate of flesh and blood turned back into an eyeball, which he placed back onto his "face."
Lying on the bed, his expression was blank. Clearly, giving up on entering the gate of flesh and blood and abandoning the position of heir was not that simple for him.
"No wonder he carries such a Divine Artifact with him; it's for the Blood Marshal's trial," the Sea God muttered, the excitement in his eyes growing more intense.
The God of Assassins snorted coldly. "Who knows if that was just an act? What if he saw through someone's petty tricks?"
The cold glint in Xu Le's eyes deepened, but he didn't say anything in rebuttal.
The reason the five could see Andrew's every move was that Xu Le had installed a Periscope in his room.
He had anticipated there might be Spells to detect mana fluctuations, so he specifically installed a Periscope that emitted none.
The five were hiding in a room far from Andre's room, and they had also set up a Soundproofing Barrier, making it very safe.
The Eye Demon said, "Spu's method successfully helped us scout the location of the Divine Artifact. He deserves credit!"
Xu Le waved his hand. "We're all here for the Divine Artifact. It's fine as long as some people don't just sit around doing nothing while throwing out cold mocks. Whether credit is recorded isn't important—just pay me in cash!"
Everyone: "..."
In the end, the Eye Demon took the lead, and each of them gave Xu Le a hundred billion faith Points.
The people of this world gained more faith through prayer, but a hundred billion faith Points was still a significant income. Xu Le accepted it with a smile.
The Eye Demon said, "Now that we've located the Divine Artifact, we'll proceed as planned!"
Everyone nodded. All five had signed the "Boundary River Oath," so they weren't afraid of anyone stabbing them in the back before they got the Divine Artifact... Puff!
Golden light suddenly exploded in the palace air.
This was the residue from the scroll; any mana fluctuation would draw attention.
Andrew immediately flipped up, his eyes filled with a cold glint. "Audacious! How dare you spy on this god!"
Puff, puff, puff... Dense bursts of golden light exploded, completely dyeing the palace gold.
Andrew didn't call for the two dragons to protect him. If someone dared to strike, there was bound to be a Soundproofing Barrier.
To get support, he had to escape the room.
Dense clusters of giant mouths emerged. He didn't intend to leave through the main door but instead smashed the surrounding walls; every direction was a way out.
Boom!
As if the sky were tearing apart and thunder were crashing, a vast expanse of seawater surged like a dam bursting from a mountain flood. It was unstoppable, nearly submerging the entire room the moment it appeared.
The seawater also possessed a strong mana-sealing attribute. This was a one-time-use scroll that had cost each of them a trillion faith Points, intended to restrain Andrew.
"Is that all? You've underestimated me!"
Andrew laughed loudly, his body emitting a crimson glow that dyed the seawater red. Countless giant mouths directly devoured the water, and the enhanced seawater they had brought dwindled at a visible rate.
Halfway through, Andrew's face changed drastically, and all the giant mouths began to vomit violently. "Poison! You actually dared to poison me!"
The God of Assassins suddenly struck, appearing behind Andrew. His dagger swept out, silently approaching Andrew's back.
Dense clusters of giant mouths sprouted from Andrew's back. At this moment, he looked like a piece of moldy bread, only the mold was long and could eat people.
The God of Assassins sneered and slashed his dagger with force. Despite being over ten meters away and blocked by countless giant mouths, a gash was sliced open on Andrew's back, and blood gushed out.
He was injured!
The God of Assassins looked at Xu Le provocatively.
Xu Le cursed inwardly, "What an idiot." During the cooperation, they couldn't attack each other; it was one thing to show off his skills, but to actually dare provoke him—was Fish Leong really that bored?
[Holy Light Sanction]
Xu Le and Ghost struck simultaneously. White pillars of light, carrying the essence of purifying all things, blasted onto Andrew. The giant mouths on his body were turned to ash instantly, as if they had met their natural nemesis.
The two pillars of light not only purified four of the giant mouths but also struck Andre's left and right chest, piercing through them and revealing the flesh within.
Unfortunately, he didn't seem to have a heart, or perhaps it wasn't in that location; there was nothing but flesh inside.
"Insects of the Beidian Continent! You're looking for death!"
The bloody holes on Andrew's body healed rapidly. The residual Holy Light power couldn't stop it at all and was quickly extinguished.
A blood-red light shot out from the Eye Demon's eye. Caught off guard, Andrew was instantly trapped in an illusion.
The God of Assassins snatched away the right eye the other had disguised with a Divine Artifact and turned to leave.
The other four didn't linger either, following him into the room where the Teleportation Array was set up.
"It's no use! This Divine Artifact prevents the use of the Teleportation Array!" The God of Assassins' expression was grim.
"Use it directly! Charge into the gate!!!" the Eye Demon roared.
The God of Assassins gritted his teeth and channeled his mana to open the gate of flesh and blood.
Boom!
The door was blasted apart.
Two Divine Dragons and Andrew appeared at the same time. The five didn't hesitate and charged straight into the gate of flesh and blood.
