279: The age of breaking through the sky

Yu Gang did not attack Xu Le directly. With his old arms and legs, the young man opposite him clearly did not play by the rules and would not simply stand there to be kicked.

He summoned his ancestral spirit—the Flaming Lion.

As soon as the lion appeared, it immediately cast its Spirit Domain and pulled Xu Le inside.

He could not let the battle disturb the distinguished guests.

Xu Le's vision blurred, and he appeared on a vast grassland. A lion with a body burning with flames walked over slowly; with every step it took, its Aura rose by a fraction.

Yu Gang appeared behind the lion, his voice ringing out eerily: "There is no deep hatred between us. Go out, kneel before the chief of staff, kowtow, and beg for his forgiveness, and I will let you go."

"And if not?" Xu Le asked in return.

"Otherwise, you will be beaten by me until you beg for mercy, and then you will go out and kneel to beg for forgiveness."

"Is that it? I thought you were going to say you wanted to kill me?"

Xu Le's voice was calm, as if he were talking about eating or drinking water rather than killing someone.

Is he really eighteen?

Yu Gang felt a chill in his heart and vaguely regretted accepting the three paintings this time. He even guessed that the Nan family, who provided the paintings, would regret it even more. Was it really worth offending such a young man for the position of a squad leader?

Should he strike to kill and nip the danger in the bud?

As soon as the thought emerged, Yu Gang chose to give it up.

Just kidding. 3,000 contribution points to make him kill the son of the captain of the White Tiger Legion's Ninth Squad? He wasn't that cheap; if they added a zero to the end, he might consider it.

"Go!" Since peace was impossible, they would have to fight!

The Flaming Lion stepped on flames and sprinted toward Xu Le. He saw that the young man opposite him seemed stunned, standing motionless, not even knowing how to summon an ancestral spirit.

"Then I'll add more fire and make you pee your pants in fear!"

The Flaming Lion thought this as it opened its mouth and spat out a sea of fire, which rapidly spread to the front of Xu Le.

Xu Le beckoned with his hand, throwing both the Flaming Lion and the sea of fire into the Evil Dog Ridge.

He wanted to test the strength of the Zhiwei Tower he had personally modified.

Seeing the Flaming Lion vanish in an instant, Yu Gang knew that Xu Le's ancestral spirit had expanded a Spirit Domain and pulled his own ancestral spirit into it.

To be able to pull his ancestral spirit into another Spirit Domain while inside the Flaming Lion's Spirit Domain—not to mention that the opponent's ancestral spirit was stronger than his own, the opponent's Realm was also higher than his.

He looked at Xu Le in disbelief: "You are so young, yet you have actually advanced to the Middle Stage of the Blazing Sun Realm."

"Heh!" Xu Le sneered, too lazy to communicate with the other party, and threw him straight into the Evil Dog Ridge as well.

Yu Gang stumbled. After straightening his body, he saw a group of evil spirits walking forward blankly, with his own ancestral spirit, the Flaming Lion, following alongside, step by step.

"Where is this?"

"Shh! You're dead. This is the Evil Dog Ridge; if your voice is too loud, it will attract the evil dogs." An old man appeared beside Yu Gang and kindly reminded him.

"What do you mean I'm dead? You're the one who's dead." Yu Gang was furious.

"Of course I'm dead." The old man turned around, revealing the back of his head which was a mass of mangled flesh, vaguely revealing that it was empty inside, with nothing at all.

The old man pointed to the phantoms in front: "They are all dead. Look carefully."

Yu Gang observed carefully and only then discovered that those phantoms were not living people. He even saw a phantom walking while holding its own head.

"Damn you, Xu Le! I only accepted 3,000 contribution points' worth of paintings, and you killed me."

"Damn you, Nan family! You already occupy three squad leader positions, and you still want to get your hands on a fourth. If you want it, take it, but why set me up!"

"Damn you, young man! You don't play by the rules; do you not know how to negotiate at all?"

"..."

Yu Gang became more and more heartbroken the more he thought about it, and he began to curse loudly. The old man beside him was startled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on and screamed: "Do you have a death wish! You will attract the evil dogs!"

As he said this, he didn't care about Yu Gang and ran forward desperately.

Yu Gang felt a premonition and looked back, only to see dense swarms of evil dogs.

Each one was the size of a calf, covered in rotting flesh, with blood-colored eyes and long drool dragging from their mouths.

"Woof, woof, woof..." The pack of evil dogs rushed up.

Yu Gang was so scared that his Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering, and he immediately summoned the Flaming Lion to come and rescue him.

Whoosh... The raging flames quickly turned into a sea of fire. Just as Yu Gang was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he saw those evil dogs not caring about the flames at all and rushing straight over.

One after another, the flaming evil dogs rushed over and pounced on the Flaming Lion at the front.

The evil dogs fought with the lion. The Flaming Lion was in the Blazing Sun Realm, so the evil dogs naturally could not beat it.

But they were all fearless in the face of death; even if their bellies were slashed open and their internal organs spilled onto the ground, they continued to bite and tear at the lion.

After a minute of fighting, not only were there no fewer evil dogs, but there were more and more, as if the evil dogs in the woods were endless.

The lion was careless for a moment and was bitten in the stomach by an evil dog. It hurriedly swiped its claws to grab the evil dog. The evil dog's body was mangled, but it refused to let go.

Instead, other evil dogs found an opportunity, jumped onto the lion's back, and bit and tore frantically.

"Damn it!"

Yu Gang was finally scared out of his wits.

He felt that it wouldn't take three minutes for the lion to be torn into pieces, and then it would be his turn.

He fled forward desperately.

Run, run, run.

In the rapid flight, the lion finally broke free from the evil dogs' biting, but it was covered in wounds, and its Spiritual Qi was leaking out.

The man and the lion soon overtook many phantoms, and then watched as those phantoms were buried in the dogs' mouths, their Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering.

Run, run, run!

Yu Gang saw the old man from before, hesitated for a moment, and pulled him onto the lion's back.

The other party knew quite a lot, and perhaps could help him.

Time passed slowly.

Just as Yu Gang was about to be unable to hold up under the consumption of the lion, the figures of the evil dogs finally disappeared.

"Is it safe?" Yu Gang asked.

The old man shook his head: "Not to mention how far the Evil Dog Ridge is, ahead is the River of Oblivion; we don't have a boat, and it's too hard to get across."

"If there is no boat, we can build one ourselves." Yu Gang said, full of spirit and vigor.

The old man slapped him on the back of his head: "Have you forgotten there are evil dogs here?"

Yu Gang held the back of his head and began to express his thanks.

...

In the large conference room.

Li Yuan recovered and looked at the vanished Yu Gang, knowing that the other party was venting his anger for him. In a while, someone would be kneeling before him, begging for his forgiveness.

He glanced at Zhao Shanhe beside him, who didn't even dare to fart, and felt even more that the gap between people was greater than the gap between humans and dogs; it served him right that he would never be promoted to a full squad leader in his life.

He looked again, and his eyes were twitching.

A thing whose features weren't even regular, bah!

Hmm, his eyes were darting around; the more he looked, the more twisted it was—disgusting!

Wait, was he trying to remind me of something? Didn't two people just disappear? He doesn't even know about the Spirit Domain? How could I not have noticed something so obvious? What an idiot!

Li Yuan's thoughts raced, and his peripheral vision caught a figure—it was Xu Le, who was looking at him with great interest.

"What do you want to do? This is the Xuanwu Legion!"

Li Yuan became nervous. The easiest people to control were middle-aged men with families and mature thoughts. Someone young and hot-blooded like Xu Le could, in a moment of impulse, even shatter the firmament.

Xu Le's eyes were filled with pity, as if looking at a disabled person: "Wasn't it you who called me here?"
