259: Weighing (in kilograms)
Time passed slowly.
Xu Le waited for the legendary Night Demon to descend, but it never came.
Aside from the ink-black night, the entire valley was as peaceful as usual.
"Let's go!"
Xu Le slapped the wooden cabin, putting away the paper house, then activated the Paper Motorcycle and turned on the headlight; the white light could only reach a meter away.
"Lead the way!"
"Ah, yes, Young Master!" The Spirit Turtle hurriedly took out the Beacon previously shared by the Stone Buddha, only to see that the Beacon was dim and lifeless, unable to indicate any direction at all.
Xu Le didn't mind. Waiting around like a fool was just a waste of time, so he simply chose a path and drove forward.
Vroom, vroom... Limited by the quality of the Spirit Paper, the motorcycle's top speed was only 45 km/h, but it was smooth and steady. Compared to riding a horse, it was practically heaven.
"Save me!" A boy in white, covered in blood, rushed out. He looked to be only twelve or thirteen years old.
Xu Le stopped. He wasn't afraid of schemes; he was only afraid of the enemy hiding and refusing to come out.
Old Ghost thought Xu Le was going to save the person and was about to rush over immediately, but he was grabbed.
"Check if he has the Three Fires!"
Old Ghost said shamefully, "Young Master, he must have his back to me first. Then, I have to make a sound, and only after he turns around can I see his Three Fires."
The Spirit Turtle sneered unceremoniously.
Xu Le took out an AK and aimed it at the boy. "Stop, or I'll shoot!"
The AK looked exactly like the AKs of this world, but it was made of ordinary paper—all show and no substance, unable to fire.
The boy seemed oblivious, running and crying, "Save me, save me..."
Xu Le tilted his head. "Kill him!"
???
Both spirits and the man were stunned on the spot.
The Spirit Turtle reacted the fastest. Seeing that Xu Le didn't seem to be joking, it opened its mouth and spat out a water arrow, hitting the boy right between the eyebrows.
Pfft!
The boy dissipated like a bubble.
The two spirits were in awe; the Young Master was indeed the Young Master.
As spirits, they were most sensitive to human presence, yet they had failed to distinguish whether the boy was human or spirit just now.
The motorcycle continued forward.
Another boy ran out, waving his hands and calling for help. Xu Le held up the AK, and the boy looked horrified, backing away repeatedly.
He recognizes the gun; he should be human.
Xu Le ordered, "Turn around!"
"Yes, yes, please don't shoot." The boy was trembling with fear as he turned around, still shaking.
Xu Le looked at the Old Ghost. The Old Ghost hurriedly turned into a puff of blue smoke and stood a meter behind the boy. An old voice reached the boy's ear: "Turn around."
The boy trembled all over, not daring to move.
Xu Le coughed, and the Old Ghost understood instantly, mimicking Xu Le's voice: "Turn around!"
Only then did the boy turn around tremulously, letting out a faint sigh of relief.
Since he could turn around, the other person probably wouldn't shoot.
Old Ghost looked back. "Young Master, he has the Three Fires. He's human."
Xu Le: "Blow out all the fires."
Boy: ???
Old Ghost executed the order meticulously, blowing three consecutive breaths. The boy's face instantly paled by three shades, and he shivered from the cold.
Xu Le asked, "Can you ride a horse?"
"A little," the boy replied.
Xu Le took out a Paper Horse, activated it, and controlled it to walk to the boy's side. "Stay three meters in front of me. It'll be easier to rescue you if anything happens."
The boy opened his mouth, feeling somewhat unsafe, but he was truly intimidated by Xu Le's Aura and nodded silently.
Both the horse and the motorcycle were made of the same Spirit Paper. Their speeds were similar as they sped along the road.
The boy was shivering from the night wind. He couldn't hold on and almost fell, hurriedly grabbing the reins.
Xu Le turned the vehicle, the headlight sweeping across to reveal a 50-centimeter-thick blood line cutting across the road. Beside the blood line was a string of blood-colored words.
[Cross the boundary and die]
"How can there be such a strange thing in this world?" The boy didn't believe it and continued forward on the Paper Horse.
The moment the horse's head crossed the blood line, it turned directly into white paper. The boy sitting on the horse was startled and hurriedly dismounted, then watched as the Paper Horse became a Paper Horse the size of a real horse.
"This, this, this..."
The repeater boy kept repeating himself, his tongue tied.
Xu Le got off the vehicle and walked to the blood line. The pervasive smell of rust told him immediately that it was human blood.
Boy: "It... it wants to force us into the woods. I, I heard..."
Xu Le shook his head. "Stop with the 'heard'. I'm not going into the woods."
"But..." The boy wanted to say more, but then he saw a black whip strike the blood line. The soil churned, burying the blood line along with the blood-colored words next to it.
"Is this... useful?" the boy asked hesitantly.
Xu Le snorted coldly. "The Night Demon is just a petty ghost, only daring to hide behind the scenes and play dirty tricks."
"Ah..." The boy suddenly let out a painful scream, his expression twisting. Then he began to vomit uncontrollably, even throwing up his own internal organs.
First the lungs, then the liver, heart, spleen, and other organs, and finally various chunks of flesh.
Correspondingly, the flesh on the boy's body was also disappearing, turning him completely into a skin-and-bones monster.
"Jie jie jie..."
Xu Le picked his ear with his pinky finger, looking very dissatisfied. "Stop that creepy laughing; it's damn unpleasant. If you wasted a Chang ghost just to disgust me, I can send him on his way now."
The creepy laughter stopped abruptly. The monster was momentarily at a loss. Just as it wanted to open its mouth, a black shadow slammed into its neck.
Its cervical spine snapped, and the horrific head was whipped away.
Having words stuck in one's throat is the most uncomfortable thing; this was retribution for the Night Demon playing tricks on him.
The motorcycle continued along the road.
A terrifying figure appeared in the light.
It wore loose black robes that looked like they were draped over withered branches.
That figure was just like the boy after he finished vomiting—nothing but skin and bones all over. The dark eye sockets were empty, without even eyeballs.
"Young Master, leave him to me!" The Spirit Turtle volunteered.
"You probably can't handle him!" Xu Le looked at the terrifying figure. "Right? Night Demon!"
"You have a very keen eye, though you should at least add a 'Your Excellency'!" The Night Demon's voice was coarse and sharp, like nails scratching on a blackboard, extremely ear-piercing. "I heard you are also going to the Heavenly Buddha Temple. Let's cooperate!"
Xu Le didn't even blink. "Fake news, rumors, don't believe them!"
Night Demon: "...I was released by those old Bald Donkeys specifically to deal with you."
"Oh!"
"You aren't angry, are you? Just now, I was only measuring whether you have the qualifications to cooperate with me."
"Is that so? Then let me measure you as well!"
Crazy!
The Night Demon found it unbelievable. Thirty years ago, he was already famous and considered a Peak expert in the Spirit Realm. Now a junior had appeared and actually wanted to measure his weight; even the Heavenly Buddha Temple probably wouldn't dare to speak such big words.
He decided to measure the other's weight in a moment—measure it for a bit longer, just as long as he didn't kill him!
With a thought from Xu Le, a pale palm appeared out of thin air and slapped down towards the Night Demon.
"That's it?"
The Night Demon snorted disdainfully, raising his hands above his head as a pillar of black light rose to meet the pale palm.
The pillar of light collapsed upon contact. The palm instantly struck the Night Demon's hands. Under the overbearing spiritual power, those hands were like foam, directly slapped into black smoke, followed by the Night Demon's head, body, legs... The entire Night Demon was like an ugly sandcastle built by a child, slapped into a pile of shifting sand by a gentle palm.
