64: Killing each other

The next day.

At the crack of dawn.

The upstream boundary of District 11001.

Ghost Executioner stood alone by the riverbank, taking out a small black bottle, his eyes filled with fanaticism and reluctance.

He suddenly kicked behind him, and a figure was revealed, falling to the ground.

Ghost Executioner's voice was flat, "I don't like people hiding their heads and showing their tails in front of me."

Phantom Shadow gasped; this was the signal that Ghost Executioner was about to strike, so he hurriedly replied, "I understand!"

According to the rules of the Shadow Hall, members of the Shadow Hall must always remain in the shadows.

But he didn't dare to argue; the outcome of arguing was death.

Ghost Executioner nodded in satisfaction and opened the stopper, revealing the pale gold liquid inside.

Last night, nearly 2,000 Red Carp were killed.

Xu Le was about to summon the five little ones when he smelled a faint scent of blood.

The emerald green river water was stained with a layer of red.

A monster with a fish head and a human body emerged from the water.

Its whole body was dark red, topped with a carp head. Its originally round mouth was torn open, revealing sharp, densely packed white teeth;

A single horn grew on its head, its body was roughly human-like, a row of spikes grew along its spine, its limbs were gaunt and long, and its nails were as sharp as blades.

The merman was startled and pulled out a black staff, beginning to chant an incantation.

Summon Undead!

Over a hundred mermen appeared, including assassins, warriors, and mages.

Then came the "Aura Shield Technique." A black light enveloped it, and its health bar visibly grew a large chunk.

On land.

The contracted beasts could all exert their combat power. Hundreds of Little Dogs, hundreds of little ravens, and ten Little Yellow Chickens and Little Black Snakes charged together.

If it weren't for the opponent's ugly appearance, one might have thought Xu Le was the demonic boss.

Seeing the dense crowd of contracted beasts rushing over, the merman was unhurried and pointed the staff at the river behind it.

Resurrect Undead!

Splash, splash, splash... Densely packed Red Carp jumped out of the water.

Without heads, without tails, or even just a single fish bone remaining, they all leaped in the air, looking incredibly terrifying.

Using fish bones and bodies to combine randomly, they turned into strange undead warriors and jumped onto the shore.

Normally, except for the corpses on the shore, the Red Carp corpses in the river would have been eaten clean. Yet, the corpses that emerged were overwhelming—if not ten thousand, then at least eight thousand.

When Xu Le used the Divine Eye to look into the river, the blood qi was soaring, and he couldn't see a single living fish.

They had all been killed!

Now the numbers were reversed; the merman's undead army was more than ten times the size of this side.

Xu Le was not worried.

He arranged tactics through the Mind Link and pointed his finger, and Earth Spikes rose from beneath the merman's feet.

Earth Spikes as large as small hills instantly pierced through the ground. The merman was of the Necromancer class and easily sensed the surge of earth qi, escaping to the side.

Xu Le didn't expect to succeed in one hit and cast "Hurricane Howl" at the merman's landing spot.

A violent tornado appeared. The merman narrowly avoided it again, but the Little Black Snake suddenly shot out, opening its mouth wide to cast the "Elephant Swallowing" skill.

This strike happened to intercept the merman as it hurriedly dodged the tornado. Its physical strength was exhausted, and it was unavoidable.

Just as it seemed the merman was about to be swallowed into the snake's belly, the staff in its hand flashed, and it appeared three meters away.

Death Displacement!

The contracted beast army and the undead army fought inextricably.

Because their attributes were higher, the Little Dog Clones suffered almost no losses, except for three that were killed by the focused fire of several undead mages.

But the undead army, mostly made of assembled parts, was of varying quality, and large patches of corpses covered the ground.

The failed ambush startled Xu Le, and he was about to disperse the dog Clones.

But with the two sides intertwined, how could they be separated?

This was the merman's overt plot!

As long as there was combat, there would be death, and they wouldn't be able to leave the battlefield.

Densely packed corpses exploded. The Little Dog Clones, bearing the brunt of it, had high attributes but no damage-reduction skills, so they could only rely on their physical bodies to endure it.

In the waves of explosions, they were left covered in wounds, and many Clones were killed on the spot.

Equally miserable was the Little Black Snake. Even with its terrifying damage reduction and ultra-high defense, it was blown dizzy.

Before the waves of the explosion had dissipated, the "Plague Propagation" skill followed.

Various diseases accumulated in the undead bodies were detonated, turning into thick smoke that enveloped the battlefield.

Xu Le glanced at his contracted beasts.

The Little Yellow Chickens and the alerted Little Silly Crows hovered in the air, flying high when the Corpse Explosion was cast, completely unharmed;

The original Little Dog and the Little Peach Tree were hiding behind the battlefield. With the addition of the Spirit Domain, their health and mana bars were so full they were almost overflowing;

The only injured one, the Little Black Snake, had its plague completely removed under the "Life Purification" skill, and its health bar still had more than 2/3 remaining.

Xu Le felt relieved.

What did it matter if there were a few more waves of such combat?

As for the merman, after using Corpse Explosion, the corpses were completely shattered into dust by the Spell, so it couldn't last for many waves.

The Little Dog cast the "Call Friends and Companions" skill again, and more than three hundred Clones appeared with full health.

Madness filled the merman's eyes. It pointed its staff and cast Resurrect Undead on the Little Dog Clones that had just died from the Corpse Explosion and Plague Propagation.

The Little Dog Clones that had just fallen stood up again, their eyes hollow, launching a deadly attack on their low-health kin.

They were originally Clones of the Little Dog and could only exist for three minutes; now they could only be maintained for a little over a minute.

But for this minute or so, the Little Dog would have to engage in "fratricide," or was it "self-slaughter"?

How cruel!

Through the Mind Link, Xu Le sensed the pain and determination in the Little Dog's heart.

"Forget it, who cares about style anymore!"

"As long as I kill every monster I see, who will know?"

Xu Le took out the demon slaying blade and stepped forward, charging toward the merman in the undead army.
