147: Chapter 147: Moreover, the soul beast race should hate the Dragon God.

Watching Silver Dragon King's dejected appearance—as if the very pillar of her faith were beginning to collapse—Lu Jing felt no joy, but rather a complex sense of melancholy.

The pressure and despair carried by this seemingly high and mighty, overwhelmingly powerful ruler of the Spirit Beasts perhaps far exceeded what outsiders could imagine.

He waited quietly for a moment until Silver Dragon King's aura calmed slightly.

Although she remained pale and weak, a glimmer of light seemed to coalesce once more within those purple eyes.

It was a stubborn light, one that sought the truth even in despair and continued forward even in pain.

Lu Jing knew it was time to drop another, even heavier and more shocking piece of information.

This might explain some deeper doubts, or it might push Silver Dragon King into even greater confusion, but that was still better than letting her sink completely into the pain of unfair rules or pointing her spearhead entirely at him, a human who knew too much.

"Oh, right!"

Thinking of this, Lu Jing spoke again, his voice breaking the oppressive silence within the space. "There is one more thing. I don't know if you are aware of it. Perhaps you know, or perhaps... your other half did not pass this memory on to you."

Silver Dragon King slowly raised her head. While sorrow and exhaustion still lingered in her amethyst-like eyes, she had regained a basic clarity and the dignity befitting the Silver Dragon King.

She looked deeply at Lu Jing and gave a gentle wave of her jade hand. The invisible power of space that had been faintly binding Lu Jing and restricting his movements quietly receded like a receding tide.

Lu Jing immediately felt his body lighten, and he regained his freedom.

He calmly stretched his somewhat stiff muscles and bones, while his Soul Power slowly circulated, dispelling the slight discomfort caused by the restraint of the space power.

He knew this was not because Silver Dragon King completely trusted him; perhaps she simply felt that within this space under her absolute control, he had nowhere to escape.

Or perhaps... it was something he had said that made her temporarily set aside her most direct killing intent.

"What is it?" Silver Dragon King's voice still carried a hint of hoarseness, but it had regained that ethereal quality, though the exhaustion within it remained impossible to shake off.

Lu Jing stood straight, his gaze meeting hers calmly, and he spoke clearly, enunciating every word:

"It concerns an agreement reached between the remnant will of the Dragon God and the five great God Kings of the Divine Realm, following the ancient war of the gods hundreds of thousands of years ago that led to the fall of the Dragon God and the decline of the divine beasts."

"An agreement?" A look of clear confusion, perhaps even bewilderment, appeared on Silver Dragon King's beautiful face.

She knit her delicate brows in thought for a moment before slowly shaking her head. "An... agreement between the Dragon God and the five great God Kings? I... do not know of this."

She did not hide the truth. As the Silver Dragon King, split from the Dragon God and representing wisdom and elemental control, she had indeed inherited most of the Dragon God's memories, knowledge, and emotions, but not all of them.

Her memories of the chaotic period leading up to the Dragon God's final fall, as well as the events that followed, were fragmented and hazy.

The other half, the Golden Dragon King who represented the physical body and power, had descended into madness and was eventually sealed away; it might have inherited the other portion of those memories, but they had long since been cut off from each other.

"It is about the reason why the Soul Beast Clan has been unable to ascend to the Divine Realm by breaking through the million-year shackle through their own cultivation ever since that great war," Lu Jing added, his gaze locked tightly on Silver Dragon King.

Silver Dragon King's heart gave a violent jolt, and a sharp light suddenly shot from her purple eyes!

Spirit Beasts cannot attain Divinity!

This was the shackle that had imprisoned the entire line of Spirit Beasts for countless years, and it was one of the root causes of the Soul Beast Clan's steady decline!

This cursed, seemingly heaven-sent rule was precisely what she and Di Tian and the other Fierce Beasts had been struggling to break for countless years!

Now, Lu Jing was actually saying that this was related to an agreement between the Dragon God and the five great God Kings?

"What agreement? What exactly is it?!" Silver Dragon King's voice rose involuntarily, laced with a hint of urgency.

She vaguely sensed that what Lu Jing was about to say might overturn many of her deeply held beliefs.

Lu Jing took a deep breath, as if weighing his words, and then, in a tone that was as calm as possible yet carried the weight of a thousand jin, he uttered the truth that was enough to shake any Spirit Beast to their core:

"The agreement was this—the Soul Beast Clan would henceforth be forbidden from relying on their own cultivation to break through the limits, ascend to the Divine Realm, and attain Divinity. And this proposal... or rather, the source of this restriction, was not initiated by the five great God Kings forcing the Dragon God to accept it. Instead, it was—"

He paused, his gaze burning like a torch as he watched Silver Dragon King's purple eyes widen in an instant, and he clearly uttered the second half of the sentence:

"It was the Dragon God himself who, before his fall, proactively proposed it to the five great God Kings."

"Boom—!"

It was as if an invisible thunderbolt had exploded within Silver Dragon King's mind!

Her delicate body shuddered violently, as if struck hard by an invisible heavy hammer; she stumbled back another step, nearly unable to remain standing!

The blood drained completely from her beautiful face, leaving behind only a deathly pallor, along with a mixture of extreme shock, disbelief, and... the overwhelming pain and absurdity of being betrayed by the one she trusted most!

"No... impossible!!!"

After a brief silence, a shrill, angry rebuke, filled with denial, erupted from Silver Dragon King's lips!

She snapped her head up. Her amethyst-like eyes were now bloodshot, and she glared fixedly at Lu Jing, as if she would tear him apart!

The energy around her body, which had previously calmed, began to boil uncontrollably once more. Her long silver hair stirred without a breeze, and the space itself rippled due to her violent emotional fluctuations!

"This is absolutely impossible!!"

Silver Dragon King's voice trembled with extreme agitation, even cracking slightly as she retorted, "The Dragon God is the first ruler of our Soul Beast Clan! He is the supreme being who led the Spirit Beasts to the pinnacle of the Divine Realm! He regarded the Soul Beast Clan as his subjects, his glory! How could he... how could he have proactively proposed to cut off the future path of his own people?! This is simply a fantasy! It is an absurd, outrageous lie!!!"

She could not accept it. Even if her reason told her that Lu Jing seemed to have no motive to lie about such a matter, she still could not accept it!

This was even more unbearable to her than hearing just moments ago that it was only natural for Spirit Masters to hunt Spirit Beasts!

That was merely a cold rule, but this... this was an act of naked betrayal, coming from the very source of her faith!

Watching Silver Dragon King's agitated state, as if she were on the verge of collapse, Lu Jing's expression remained calm, even tinged with a hint of understanding.

He had long expected the other party to react this way.

Anyone who discovered that the very shackle they had spent their entire life trying to break had been placed upon them by their most revered ancestor would likely go mad.

"This matter is not something I fabricated out of thin air."

Lu Jing's voice remained steady, as if he were stating a historical fact that had nothing to do with him. He said softly, "It was the God of Destruction who, while bestowing the inheritance mark upon me, happened to mention this ancient secret. I was merely curious at the time and asked a few follow-up questions. As for whether you believe it or not, that is up to you."
