142: Chapter 142 Time Management

He raised his hand and stroked Qin Shi's willow-slender waist.

Qin Shi was startled at first, but upon seeing it was Chen Cheng, her eyes rolled, and she wrapped her arms around his waist, leaning her whole body against him, cooing, "Oh, hubby, where did you go just now?"

Chen Cheng smiled, lowered his head, and kissed her on the cheek, "Missing me already?"

A blush immediately rushed to Qin Shi's face.

Tao Junhui, standing in front of the two, had his face drop, his eyes wide with rage, and he asked, "And who is this?"

Chen Cheng turned to look at Tao Junhui and smiled, "Hello, I am Qin Shi's boyfriend, Chen Cheng."

"Hello, I'm Tao Junhui from Liangchen Law Firm."

Chen Cheng shook hands with Tao Junhui, "So you're in the same line of work as our Xiao Shi."

Tao Junhui asked with a forced smile, "May I ask where Mr. Chen is employed?"

Chen Cheng shrugged, "I don't have a job; our Xiao Shi is the one supporting me."

Qin Shi immediately widened her eyes and turned to look at him; why did this man have such a penchant for playing the pig to eat the tiger?

Tao Junhui frowned, his lungs about to explode with anger.

She broke up with me just to find such a gigolo?

He looked at Qin Shi and said sarcastically, "No wonder Qin Shi works so hard."

"Coming all the way to City Name. So it turns out it was to support the family."

Looking at his sarcastic face, Chen Cheng didn't react much; why would he bother arguing with an ant?

Qin Shi was the first to be displeased; with a smile on her lips, she coquettishly rubbed her soft body against Chen Cheng's arm.

"What's wrong with that? Times have changed. I earn money to support the family; there might even be a line of people envying my husband."

Tao Junhui watched Qin Shi's little actions, grinding his teeth in his heart; is this bitch mocking me for not being good enough?

Qin Shi had never shown such a coquettish expression in front of him, making it hard for him not to make assumptions.

Tao Junhui was so angry he wanted to raise his hand and slap her, cursing, "You stinking bitch, slut, whore."

Did this gigolo satisfy her?

Is that why she's working so hard to make money?

Tao Junhui stood frozen for a long while without speaking. At this moment, Chen Cheng twisted the knife further.

"Hey, this guy doesn't have any other merits, but he's very good at housework and can always give Xiao Shi some surprises and happiness. She lets me not work so that I have more time to exercise and take care of her."

Tao Junhui almost spat out a mouthful of old blood; he glared fiercely at Qin Shi and turned to leave.

Watching Tao Junhui's pathetic, fleeing back, Qin Shi couldn't stop smiling. She tugged at Chen Cheng's sleeve, "How did you know I was at odds with him?"

Chen Cheng's lips curled up slightly, "If I couldn't even read the expression on your face, I'd have lived in vain. Before I came over, what difference was there between you standing there and a zombie?"

"Ex-boyfriend?"

Qin Shi's mouth twitched; this man was actually quite clever.

But Qin Shi had no intention of confessing her relationship with Tao Junhui to Chen Cheng, so she brushed it off, "No, I once snatched a case from him, and he holds a grudge."

Chen Cheng glanced at her and didn't expose her.

He shook his arm, brushing against her ample softness, "Is the matter settled?"

Qin Shi shivered, blushing as she glared at him, "If you take advantage of me again, I'll get mad at you!"

"Oh?" Chen Cheng didn't believe it and repeated the same trick, "Show me how you get mad?"

"You!" Qin Shi was choked with anger.

Chen Cheng chuckled and didn't tease her anymore, "The matter?"

Qin Shi pouted, "We were just talking, and then that meddler came out of nowhere."

"What are you going to do now?"

Qin Shi pondered for a moment, "Let's play it by ear later. I'm going to the restroom first."

Chen Cheng didn't care; it was still early, "Alright, go ahead. I'll wander around."

Chen Cheng saw her out of the banquet hall; he had eaten his fill, and staying any longer was pointless.

Chen Cheng glanced at her swaying figure, his lips curled up slightly, and he walked over to the sofa in the lounge area and sat down.

He took out his phone and started replying to messages.

Every day there are always a few free moments, and Scum Cheng usually makes good use of them.

Chen Cheng was stunned when he saw the message sent by Xiao Ye.

[I've listened to your songs a few more times; you are truly amazing. You can perfectly master all kinds of musical styles. I've never seen anyone who can sing better than you.]

[And you wrote all these songs yourself; it's simply incredible.]

[Thanks.] Scum Cheng replied very briefly.

This is also a technique: playing it cool.

Facing a proactive player like Xiao Ye, the more aloof you are, the more interested she gets.

However, one must also grasp the degree well; occasionally respond, keep her at arm's length, and make her want to give up but still feel unwilling to do so.

It's actually just one word: itch.

Xiao Ye lay on the bed looking at the two words, feeling a bit discouraged.

Her eyes rolled, and she continued typing.

[When are you free next time? Let's sing together?]

This time, Chen Cheng replied very quickly.

[When I'm free.]

Another non-committal answer.

Xiao Ye scratched her hair in annoyance. Just as she was thinking about how to continue, her phone vibrated again.

[Your hairstyle suits you very well; it looks great.]

A blush immediately rushed to Xiao Ye's face. After thinking about it, she replied:

[Thanks, you're very handsome too, and the mask is super cool.]

Scum Cheng replied with a shy emoji, [You've made my heart race with your compliments.]

Looking at Chen Cheng's reply, Xiao Ye hugged her phone and giggled.

Thinking about it, she replied: [Then you have to be careful; my ability to compliment people is more than just this.]

[Then should I prepare some fast-acting heart pills in advance?]

Xiao Ye stared at the screen, giggling, her heart feeling as if it had melted into honey.

She blinked and moved her fingers, [Let's not talk about this. What are you doing?]

Chen Cheng's lips curled up; she was getting curious.

After thinking about it, he replied honestly: [I'm attending a charity banquet in City Name.]

[A charity banquet? Are you attending an event?]

[No, didn't I tell you I have no plans to debut? Actually, I'm a tennis coach.]

Scum Cheng just made that up on the spot.

[A tennis coach? No wonder your physique is so good.]

[Wait... hold on, so those songs were written during your spare time?]

Xiao Ye restrained her smile and stared at the screen with wide eyes.

[Physique? Your focus is a bit strange. The songs were indeed written in my spare time; I was just writing them for fun when I was in college.]

Xiao Ye blushed immediately, feeling like she had been caught peeking at someone's physique.

[Hehe~ Writing them for fun? Are you trying to make us feel like we can't live?]

[What? You're so beautiful, why would I want you to die.]

Xiao Ye looked at the screen, her lips curling upward uncontrollably.

He complimented me on being beautiful.

...

Chen Cheng chatted with Xiao Ye for a while, and his neck was a bit sore, so he got up to see if Qin Shi had returned.

He scanned the banquet hall but didn't see anyone.

Did she fall into the toilet?

Chen Cheng muttered, turned around, and walked toward the restroom.
