With the final blow, the statue's head shattered completely, and blood gushed out like a fountain.

Chu Xuan leaped straight down. Seeing Old Wu and the other three running in, looking at him with suspicion and doubt, his expression shifted slightly.

"You said smashing the statues would let us escape this place?"

"At this point, what are you still pretending for?"

Old Wu said angrily, "This temple is now sealed by a weird power. If doing this won't let us escape, why did you have us smash the statues?"

Chen Yao said urgently, "Little brother, if you know anything else, speak up quickly! We just smashed a glowing statue over at the Mountain Gate Hall, but before we could destroy the next one, the Great Buddha suddenly appeared. Now those newcomers are almost all dead, and it'll be our turn soon!"

Chu Xuan's eyes flickered almost imperceptibly, and he immediately said without thinking, "This is a killing rule of a deathmatch; the only way out is to kill the Great Buddha! And the prerequisite for killing the Great Buddha is to first smash the glowing statues and then destroy the golden seal on its face..."

"What did you say?" Fox exclaimed. "Are you crazy? You actually want to kill the Great Buddha? How is that possible?"

"Those are the rules. Whether you believe it or not is up to you!"

Leaving it at that, Chu Xuan turned and ran. He didn't care if they believed him or not; his purpose was simply to set a hook.

Whether they took the bait or not, Chu Xuan had nothing to lose.

Since the statue here had already been smashed, the Great Buddha would teleport over any moment. He wasn't foolish enough to stay here and chat.

Chu Xuan returned the way he came, exiting through the back door of the Heavenly Kings Hall. He leaped up the steps in a few strides and reached the square in front of the Mahavira Hall.

A dull sound suddenly came from behind him, followed by the clattering of the rings on a Buddhist staff.

Chu Xuan looked back and saw Chen Yao, Fox, and the Bald Man running out with faces full of terror, but Old Wu was nowhere to be seen.

He didn't even need to think to know that Old Wu must have been finished off by the Great Buddha.

"How many glowing Buddha statues are there in total in this temple?" Chen Yao shouted urgently.

"If you really just smashed one, then there are only two left. One of them is in the Ksitigarbha Hall." Chu Xuan didn't hide anything and ran straight toward the Zangwang Hall.

"Wait for us!" Chen Yao shouted as he chased from behind.

"We should split up and act individually!" Chu Xuan didn't stop. Looking back, he saw the three of them still chasing directly after him and immediately understood their plan.

"It's safer to act together!" Chen Yao, running at the front, shouted.

Bang bang bang bang!

The Great Buddha chased them out of the Heavenly Kings Hall with heavy steps. Suddenly, its figure flickered and vanished. When it reappeared, it was right in front of Chu Xuan, blocking the way to the Ksitigarbha Hall.

Chu Xuan felt a chill in his heart. Although the Great Buddha didn't speak, it clearly possessed self-awareness and was trying to stop them from destroying the statues.

Without the slightest hesitation, Chu Xuan immediately turned and ran, heading straight toward Chen Yao and the other two who were chasing from behind.

"Don't you fucking run toward us!"

Chen Yao cursed loudly. He, Fox, and the Bald Man immediately scattered to escape, but when he looked back and saw Chu Xuan chasing him, he was instantly fuming with rage.

Chu Xuan continued to chase Chen Yao, not forgetting to shout, "Wait for me! It's better if we act together!"

"I'm begging you, stop chasing me!" Chen Yao ran even faster, leaping straight down the steps and rushing back through the back door of the Heavenly Kings Hall.

Chu Xuan followed closely behind.

Suddenly, the figure of the Great Buddha appeared ahead, blocking Chen Yao's path. A pitch-black Buddhist staff, carrying a wind-breaking hum, swept across. Chen Yao screamed and dropped to the ground to dodge it.

Boom!

The immense force of the Buddhist staff caused a Heavenly King Statue on a high pedestal by the wall to collapse with a crash, shattering all over the floor.

This is way too fierce!

Chu Xuan was inwardly shocked. He immediately retreated from the Heavenly Kings Hall and stood against the wall.

Soon, Chen Yao ran out. Seeing Chu Xuan standing there motionless, his eyes lit up, and he dashed over, sweeping past Chu Xuan.

"Little brother, you help me hold back the Great Buddha, and I'll go destroy the statue."

However, when Chen Yao realized the Great Buddha was chasing him out of the door and had stepped right past Chu Xuan with heavy strides as if he weren't even there, he was completely stunned.

"Holy crap! You kid must be cheating!"

"Sorry, you'd better be the one to hold back the Great Buddha."

Chu Xuan spoke softly. As the Great Buddha suddenly teleported next to Chen Yao, forcing him to scramble around, Chu Xuan took the opportunity to slip back into the Heavenly Kings Hall.

On the way, he encountered Old Wu's corpse. It was a gruesome sight; more than half of his body had been smashed into a pulp. However, Chu Xuan found a Short Blade next to him and picked it up.

It felt like it was made of decent material and had a good weight. With a casual swing, Chu Xuan sliced off a large chunk of the wooden door frame.

Chu Xuan conveniently discarded the Fruit Knife he had been carrying. Then, without stopping, he exited through the front gate of the Heavenly Kings Hall and headed straight for the Mountain Gate Hall ahead.

The situation here was even more tragic, with severed limbs and broken arms everywhere. Chu Xuan found no survivors; it seemed all the passengers who had just successfully completed Spirit Washing had been killed by the Great Buddha.

In the Mountain Gate Hall, the statues of the Heng and Ha Generals stood on the left and right. One was already damaged, with blood all over the floor, while the other was emitting pulses of red light.

Under this red light, the already brightly colored and exaggerated statue appeared even more hideous, its face showing a ferocious expression, and sounds of "Heng! Heng! Heng! Heng!" could be heard from time to time.

Arriving here, Chu Xuan didn't act immediately. His gaze was involuntarily drawn to the "Villagers" gathered outside the Mountain Gate Hall.

These people had now become bizarrely shaped, emitting strange screeches and howls from their mouths. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them demons or monsters; they only retained a small fraction of their human characteristics.

And outside this Mountain Gate Hall, there were at least a hundred monsters!

If all these Villagers were to break in and swarm them, even without the Great Buddha, they would likely be in great danger.

Fortunately, these Villagers seemed to be blocked by some invisible force and were unable to enter the temple.

Confirming that it was temporarily safe, Chu Xuan steadied himself and swung the Short Blade at the statue emitting the red light.

He didn't know what material the Short Blade was made of, but while it couldn't compare to Qin Qing's long sword from before, the quality was still excellent.

With Chu Xuan's current strength attribute, a single strike was enough to slice off nearly half of the clay statue's head.

Amidst the surging blood, Chu Xuan could even see the wooden structural frame inside. Without much thought, he delivered several more strikes in succession.

After succeeding, Chu Xuan realized the Great Buddha would be there soon. Not daring to delay, he quickly changed his position and stood still.

In the next second, the Great Buddha appeared!
