433: Chapter 432 Pet Container

The Pet Room was not far from the stairs, separated by a heavy iron door.

A wooden plaque hung on the iron door, with several large characters carved on it.

[This is the Pet Room, as well as a Laboratory. Every Specimen Container holds precious wealth.

Choose or give up? Failure or success? Whether you can resist temptation is all in a single thought...]

Chu Xuan only glanced at it and found that the thick chains originally locking the iron door had already broken, so he pushed the iron door open effortlessly.

Witnessing the scene inside the Pet Room, Chu Xuan couldn't help but frown inwardly.

This Pet Room was not the warm paradise or simple cage he had imagined.

Inside, rows of cylindrical glass containers over two meters high were neatly arranged, the dim lighting reflecting a cold hue.

The air was filled with a complex smell of disinfectant mixed with some indescribable animal scent.

Inside the glass containers were various humanoid animals, categorized and placed within.

There were Dog-headed Men, Rabbit-headed Men, Tiger-headed Men, Horse-headed Men...

The entire environment was filled with an extremely dull and oppressive sense of discomfort, making one involuntarily sink into it, as if they themselves were turned into animals and trapped inside.

“Cai Hou! Fat Pig! Xuan Xuan!” Chu Xuan shouted, but no one answered.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, stepped inside, and cautiously observed the surroundings, especially paying attention to the various humanoid animals inside those containers.

“Are these the Specimen Containers...”

Chu Xuan took a rough look; every container had a label attached to it.

For example, one container holding a Dog-headed Man had three lines of text on the label.

[Loyal dog, being loyal to oneself is being loyal to the master, unmoved by external things.]

[Become a Human-dog, you will be wise and steadfast, not easily deceived; you can sniff out the true scent and track for thousands of miles.]

[Value: Two stars. Fusion difficulty: Two stars]

Chu Xuan raised his eyebrows slightly; he noticed that for these Dog-headed Man Specimen Containers placed together, the descriptions in the first two lines were the same.

But the levels of “Value” and “Fusion” difficulty were different.

Right next to it was another container also for a Dog-headed Man, its external label clearly marking the value as four stars and the corresponding Fusion difficulty as four stars.

Chu Xuan walked between these rows of containers and found that the label writing format for the rest was mostly similar.

The first two lines were for marking abilities, and the third line categorized value and difficulty levels.

Clearly, the higher the value, the greater the corresponding Fusion difficulty.

“Fusion... Mutants?”

Chu Xuan murmured to himself, then remembered the Minotaur he had killed, and immediately quickened his pace to the containers holding Minotaurs.

Among several Minotaur containers, one was surprisingly empty.

[Steadfast ox, unafraid of toil.]

[Become a Human-ox, you will have immense endurance, you will have vigorous vitality, your life will never cease, and you can toil without end.]

[Value: Five stars. Fusion difficulty: Five stars]

“In other words... that Ox-horse was able to withstand dozens of punches with my full strength and was barely killed precisely because he fused with the specimen in this container?”

Chu Xuan was lost in thought.

That Minotaur choosing to fuse with this ability was indeed quite appropriate.

After all, regarding the other's [Wild Barbarian] trait, the lower the health points, the stronger the power, but the corresponding degree of injury would also be heavier, making it difficult to sustain.

However, if one fused with this five-star ability to gain vigorous vitality, they could last longer. This was undoubtedly an indirect way to enhance combat power and survival capability.

At this moment, the bell rang downstairs again.

Dong, dong, dong, dong...

Eight bells!

This meant the clock hands pointed to eight o'clock, and only forty minutes remained for them in the Second Stage.

Chu Xuan quickened his pace to investigate.

Most of the containers that came into view were exceptionally clean, their glass surfaces gleaming, but some still had stains and water marks.

Chu Xuan noticed clean white rags, mops, and hanging rods hanging on the wall.

However, at this moment, he had no intention of cleaning and wiping for now, and continued to inspect the Specimen Containers here.

“There's a heartbeat...”

A faint light flashed in Chu Xuan's eyes; he stepped lightly, pricked up his ears, and carefully observed the specimens inside these containers.

In the containers, every specimen with a beast head and human body had its eyes open; no matter which angle Chu Xuan walked to, he felt as if those gazes were locked onto him.

Chu Xuan suppressed the urge to break the containers and blast these strange things with a few bursts of Fire of Nirvana.

After all, to unlock the mechanism next, he had to wipe all these containers clean. Setting aside whether destruction would cause other trouble, it would at least delay the cleaning process.

As the investigation went deeper, Chu Xuan found that the number of five-star specimens here was small.

Besides the Minotaur he just saw, there was also a Tiger-headed Man that was five stars.

However, when he reached the fourth row, Chu Xuan found another five-star specimen, which was a Cat-headed Man.

[Cunning cat, sensitive and delicate.]

[Become a Human-cat, you are sensitive by nature, able to distinguish people and objects; you have nine lives, though life is fragile, you can court death to your heart's content.]

[Value: Five stars. Fusion difficulty: Five stars]

When Chu Xuan reached the fifth row, his heartbeat noticeably accelerated.

After walking closer quickly, he immediately discovered an abnormality. In this row, the eyes of a Monkey-headed Man were rolling around.

Chu Xuan clearly sensed the urgency and expectation in the other's gaze.

“Could it be...” Chu Xuan's mind stirred; he didn't choose to break the container, but instead ran quickly to the wall and grabbed a mop.

Immediately after, he leaped up, stood on the steps, and directly fished out the Monkey-headed Man from inside the container.
