355: Chapter 354 Restoring Order (Part 5)
Ten minutes later, Chu Xuan had traveled nearly fifty kilometers from west to east and arrived at a complex of buildings.
A tall building stood in the center, surrounded by courtyards.
This was the Headquarters Building of the Capital Inspection Department.
As Chu Xuan arrived on his Flying Boat, everyone there—whether ordinary staff or active-duty Inspectors—couldn't help but look up.
"Chu Xuan, this is a no-fly zone! Get down here right now!"
A sharp female voice rang out from below: "It's one thing to fly elsewhere, but you actually dare to fly here? You certainly have a lot of nerve!"
Chu Xuan looked down and saw a slender, thin woman with delicate features and skin as white as milk, staring up at him with burning eyes.
The woman was wearing the standard Night Watchers uniform, but the insignia on her trench coat's epaulets indicated that her post was not in the capital.
"What are you dazed for? Get down!" the thin woman shouted again, her eyes sharp as knives.
Chu Xuan's eyes flickered, and a slight smile played on his lips. He controlled the bow of the Flying Boat to slowly descend before suddenly shooting toward her at an angle.
The thin woman's expression changed slightly as she hurriedly retreated.
She was fast, but the Flying Boat was faster, closing the distance in an instant.
Her face turned pale.
With a wave of her hands, vines as thick as a baby's forearm surged forth, but before they could fully deploy, they were crushed to pieces by the Flying Boat with overwhelming force.
Her pupils constricted and her face paled further; she didn't have time to do anything else.
But just as the tip of the Flying Boat was about to hit her, it came to a sudden halt, its sharpest point nearly touching her nose.
Enveloped in its shadow, a calm voice spoke from above: "Who are you? Which region's Inspector? How I choose to fly is none of your business."
The words rang in her ears. She was momentarily stunned, but then her pale face instantly flushed red with anger as she looked up and rebuked him:
"I am Bai Zhiling, a First-Class Inspector from Red City. Never mind my identity; the rules here are the rules. As an Inspector, you should be setting an example!"
"Rules?" Chu Xuan raised an eyebrow slightly and then said calmly, "The rules have changed. Within the headquarters, an Inspector may fly as they please."
"What kind of rule is that? Just because you're an Inspector, you get to have such privileges?" Bai Zhiling said angrily.
"My rules are the rules," Chu Xuan said indifferently. "If I didn't have privileges, why would I even be an Inspector? I might as well let you have the job."
Bai Zhiling gritted her teeth in fury. "You are far too overbearing!"
"You have a problem with that?"
Chu Xuan glanced at her indifferently, finding her behavior somewhat bizarre; a normal adult shouldn't be saying such things.
He immediately used his Eye of Insight, only to find that she was indeed human.
She was already Rank 7, but there was a massive disparity between her attribute points.
Her highest spirit attribute reached 70 points, but her lowest strength attribute was only 38, and her stamina attribute was only 39.
She also had quite a few Transcendent Skills, and their levels weren't low either.
Most notably, she possessed an Exclusive Skill.
Her strength certainly wasn't weak, yet she kept targeting him as if she weren't quite right in the head. Chu Xuan had no intention of coddling her and beckoned with his finger. "If you're not satisfied, we can settle this with a fight. Otherwise, talk to me on your knees."
"You actually dare to speak to me like that? Do you really think I'm afraid of you?!"
Bai Zhiling gave a cold huff. "You're only relying on your higher Rank and having more attribute points than me. If our base attributes were the same, you might not be my match."
"Afraid to fight? Then stop yapping and kneel..."
As he spoke, Chu Xuan's eyes flickered. Bai Zhiling dazed for a moment; she didn't lose consciousness, but her legs refused to obey her, and she fell to her knees with a thud.
"What did you do to me?" Bai Zhiling was both shocked and furious. She tried desperately to stand up, but it was useless; her legs simply wouldn't move.
"Now, do you still have a problem?" Chu Xuan asked calmly.
"You..." Bai Zhiling glared at him and suddenly gritted her teeth. Countless thick vines abruptly spiraled around her body, as if to cocoon her.
"You cannot transform."
As Chu Xuan spoke indifferently, Bai Zhiling's expression became dazed once more.
The world before her eyes changed; everything was different from before. She even forgot what her purpose for coming here was.
This question filled her mind.
But in the very next instant, she remembered and muttered unconsciously, "My captain... told me to test Chu Xuan..."
Hearing this, Chu Xuan suddenly looked toward a spot not far away and gave a cold smile. "Is it really right for you to hide to the side while your team member is suffering here?"}],
