84: Chapter 84 The Terrifying Bus

After the vehicle set off on the road, the scenery outside the window became somewhat strange.

It wasn't that it was hazy or invisible, but rather that every so often, the outside view would be distorted and stretched like an oil painting; by the time it returned to normal, they were already in a different location.

It was as if this bus were traveling through space itself.

And that seemed to be exactly the case.

Just moments ago, they were near the train station, but now, after only two minutes, the bus had already reached the Riverside Park over ten kilometers away.

Chu Xuan couldn't help but feel amazed by such a bizarre sight.

However, among the many passengers present, everyone else was shivering in utter terror, except for the Enchanting Woman, the Short Man, the Middle-aged Man, and the Bald Man who had remained expressionless and silent since Chu Xuan boarded.

Originally, Chu Xuan thought these people were frightened because they had seen him killing people at the bus stop outside the train station.

But thinking about it now, that didn't seem to be the case at all.

"He... hello..."

A timid voice came from behind. As Chu Xuan turned to look, he saw a girl with a bun hairstyle suddenly shrink back.

Chu Xuan turned his head to see a girl who looked about fifteen or sixteen years old, with tear stains still on her face, looking like a middle school student.

He didn't speak, but silently took the submachine gun back out of his satchel. He then replaced the empty pistol magazine with a fresh one; he had one magazine left in his bag.

"Hello, my name is Wang Ruozi. What's your name? I feel like you're not a bad person..."

Chu Xuan raised an eyebrow slightly.

"No... no!"

Wang Ruozi seemed startled by Chu Xuan's subtle change in expression. She shuddered and waved her hands frantically, saying, "I'm not saying you don't look like a bad person—er... that's not right either. I... I mean, you're not quite the same as those people."

As she spoke, Wang Ruozi stole a glance at those few individuals.

Chu Xuan still didn't speak. He checked his fruit knife and found it was chipped and the edge was curled, but it was still usable. He slid it back into its leather sheath and tucked it into his waist.

He felt that everything about this bus was strange. As someone who didn't fully understand the situation, only by checking his weapons and equipment and being prepared at all times could he feel a slight sense of security.

Although Future Tang Zheng had given many important tips, it was impossible to cover every single detail. If he didn't handle some specifics well, he might end up losing his life.

"You didn't trick others into coming up with you, and you seem like you don't know anything, so that's why I think you're not a bad person, even though you..."

Wang Ruozi lowered her voice and stole a glance at the submachine gun in Chu Xuan's hand, swallowing hard.

Chu Xuan thought for a moment and decided he needed to find a Breakthrough to understand the situation a bit better. He couldn't remain silent forever; that would be too passive.

Furthermore, an important step in dealing with the Great Buddha required finding a woman to put on a Flower Cotton Jacket.

Although there were several women on the bus, that Enchanting Woman in the hip-hugging skirt was clearly not ordinary and had a strong sense of self. In a moment of danger, it was unlikely she would listen to him and put on some floral jacket.

As for the girl in front of him, though she looked timid, Chu Xuan saw in her eyes a look similar to Xu Zhiyou's—a desperate desire to live and the expression of someone forced to summon the courage to Breakthrough their own cowardly nature.

At a critical moment, she might be of some use.

Thinking of this, Chu Xuan finally spoke, also deliberately lowering his voice: "Were you all tricked into coming up here?"

"Mm-hmm."

Wang Ruozi nodded repeatedly: "We were all tricked by those four people. Well, not all were tricked; some were forced, but it's pretty much the same."

While speaking, Wang Ruozi stole a glance at the Enchanting Woman nearby. The latter sensed it and glanced over, causing Wang Ruozi to immediately retract her gaze in fear, not daring to look.

Chu Xuan asked, "Why were you tricked? Do you know where this bus is going?"

Tears suddenly streamed down Wang Ruozi's face: "My mother is seriously ill. The hospital couldn't cure her and said she only had two months left at most..."

"That older sister told me there was some god who was very effective. I didn't believe in that stuff at first, but having no other choice, I tried praying in my heart. As a result, my mother's illness actually got much better; even the doctors thought it was a miracle..."

"Then that sister told me that if I wanted to completely cure my mother's illness, I needed to go with everyone to collectively burn the earliest 'God-Venerating Incense.' That way, my mother would be fully healed. So I was tricked onto this bus... the others should be in similar situations..."

"As more and more people got on, someone soon realized something was wrong and wanted to get off, but suddenly that person's body just exploded. The ones who shouted loudly were the same; anyone who didn't follow the passenger rules exploded..."

At this point, as if remembering something extremely terrifying, Wang Ruozi said tremblingly, "And this bus is like a monster's stomach, absorbing all the flesh and blood of those people completely. Even the blood and bits of flesh that splashed onto others were like living worms, wriggling down to be absorbed by the bus."

Hearing this, Chu Xuan's hair stood on end. He looked at the extremely clean and brand-new interior of the bus again and suddenly noticed that on many seats, there were still clothes, cell phones, and other items, but the people were nowhere to be seen.

Next to Wang Ruozi's seat, there was indeed a dress and a lady's handbag, and under the seat was a pair of women's shoes.

Clearly, someone had originally been in that seat.

And now, the person had vanished.

Combined with Wang Ruozi's words, one could only imagine what had happened.

Before this, although Chu Xuan had noticed these anomalies, he only found them strange and hadn't thought much of it. But looking at it now, he couldn't help but feel a chilling fear upon reflection.

"We were all tricked. That business about burning 'God-Venerating Incense' must lead to an even more dangerous place. Big brother, I beg you, I don't expect you to definitely save me, but if it's within your power, please give me a hand. I don't want to die yet."

Wang Ruozi was like a desperate person grabbing at the last straw, deathly suppressing her sobs.

Although her voice was small, in this quiet bus, it was heard by everyone. The others also looked at Chu Xuan with eyes full of hope and pleading.

"Hehe!"

A raspy laugh came from a strained throat. The Middle-aged Man grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and spoke in a low voice:

"Little girl, it seems you've begged the wrong person! This kid isn't any good either. Those people he just killed were all government officials. Especially that woman who died last—I recognize her; she was the granddaughter of a very important figure!"

Upon hearing this, the hopeful light in the eyes of everyone present vanished instantly.
