150: Chapter 150 One-Day Operation

On this day, a massive earthquake occurred within the upper structures of Haicheng.

Over three hundred members of the upper class were arrested, including many socialites and public figures frequently seen on local news channels.

Most of these individuals were connected to members of the Investigation Team, whether as Family relatives or part of a closely-knit network.

As for the Investigation Team itself, aside from the group led by Tao Jiajia and Hua Jun who were shot dead by Chu Xuan in Yinshan Village, the remaining members followed the lead of Deputy Captain Wang Yang.

Just as Chu Xuan and the others finished their meeting and Captain Ming Xiucheng gave the final word to begin the purge, Wang Yang arrived outside the meeting room with his men, ready to demand accountability.

Having been severely humiliated by Zhang Qiang outside Yinshan Village, he naturally wouldn't let the matter rest. In addition to gathering all members of the Investigation Team, he had also invited a big shot from the Haicheng authorities, intending to use influence to suppress them.

Originally, he had wanted to invite the Director of the Investigation Bureau to come along to further intimidate the Night Watchers and showcase their background and connections.

Unfortunately, the Director, who had learned the inside story, didn't show his face at all. Nor did he leak a single word of warning; he had set off early that morning on a trip back to his hometown to visit relatives.

The result was obvious: Wang Yang and his group walked straight into the line of fire.

Without Ming Xiucheng's restraint, these Transcendents with supernatural powers would no longer turn a blind eye to these people's antics; they moved in and took them all down directly.

A few who dared to resist were executed on the spot.

That high-ranking official from Haicheng was so terrified his legs went weak. He only managed to avoid a complete loss of composure thanks to his long-practiced self-control, but he was handcuffed just the same.

What awaited him would be a fair judicial trial conducted strictly according to regulations.

In addition, several intern members of the Night Watchers and some researchers were also shackled and arrested on charges of leaking state secrets.

These people were linked to several Haicheng research institutions and biomedical research bases with significant backgrounds. They had been illegally researching and testing Transcendent blood to manufacture "prohibited drugs." They had long been on the list, waiting for today's clean sweep.

In just one morning, the Night Watchers, organized by their respective squads and leading large numbers of armed personnel, set off a world-shaking storm in Haicheng.

Meanwhile, Ming Xiucheng personally led Zhang Qiang, Luo Xiaotian, Chu Xuan, Tang Zheng, and others, along with over a hundred armed special agents and thirty law enforcement vehicles, rushing to the neighboring city of Xuzhou for cross-regional enforcement.

Xuzhou, Shishan Road, Xu Family Manor.

This place had been meticulously refurbished and was filled with a thick, festive atmosphere, as it was to host Elder Xu's eightieth birthday next week.

Celebrities from all walks of life were looking forward to it, having already spent much effort preparing gifts in hopes of showing off a bit at Elder Xu's birthday banquet.

If they could be remembered by Elder Xu, that would undoubtedly be the best outcome.

However, as of today, there was no longer any need for such expectations.

As numerous armed personnel burst in, the original festive atmosphere was thrown into chaos.

A private jet took off, attempting to flee far away, but it was forced to make an emergency landing by armed helicopters coming from Haicheng.

Tao Jiajia's grandfather, Elder Xu—once a man of immense power in Haicheng with students and old associates everywhere—had received the news a step too late after all. He failed to escape in time and was apprehended on the spot.

Along with Elder Xu, over fifty members of the Xu Family Manor, including some guards, were all arrested.

Elder Xu was captured at noon, escorted back to Haicheng for judicial trial in the afternoon, and executed by firing squad by evening.

The principle of handling special cases with special measures was vividly demonstrated in this operation by the Haicheng Night Watchers.

The Night Watchers of Xuzhou arrived upon hearing the news, originally intending to negotiate. However, Ming Xiucheng simply produced a document and, backed by the martial intimidation of a Level 9 Transcendent, the other party immediately shut their mouths and hurried back.

"Captain, these people must have already been corrupted," Zhang Qiang said, a cigarette dangling from his mouth.

"No need to create unnecessary complications. Our goal isn't to fight pests, but to clear the obstacles for the extermination of Specters," Ming Xiucheng said, remaining as calm as a breeze.

Luo Xiaotian walked over to report: "Most of the Xu Family's direct members have been captured, but one named Xu Wei has vanished. She frequently traveled between Haicheng and Xuzhou. As far as I know, the reason Tao Jiajia was constantly targeting us, besides her own arrogant personality, was largely due to the instigation of this older cousin."

"As long as the main culprit is caught, it's fine." Ming Xiucheng smiled faintly. "With Elder Xu as a deterrent, after today, there will be no one left in Haicheng who feigns compliance while opposing us."

Time passed quickly, and it was soon seven in the evening. After a briefing meeting where each squad reported their results, Ming Xiucheng gave the final speech at the end.

"We caused such a big stir in Haicheng today that the whole country is watching us. If we still don't produce results and fail to effectively curb the development of the Specters, I'm afraid I, as Captain, will have to resign in apology," Ming Xiucheng joked with a smile.

Bai Yunfei laughed loudly. "That's impossible! As long as all parties cooperate fully, report problems immediately, and that group from the Investigation Team stops getting in the way, our efficiency in hunting Specters will definitely increase greatly!"

"Now we can finally let loose!"

Everyone's morale was high.

Ming Xiucheng raised his hand, signaling for silence, and then said, "Don't be in a hurry. I'll take the night shift for everyone tonight. You all take a day off to rest. Once you've recovered your spirit, bring out every bit of your skill to wipe out the Specters!"

"My goal is..."

Ming Xiucheng held up one finger. His tone was calm, yet it revealed a hint of dominance. "In one week, we clear all Specters from Haicheng. All personnel are to increase their level by at least 1!"

"Good!" Everyone laughed.

Chu Xuan noticed that some of the suppressed anger previously present in these people seemed to have found an outlet. Everyone's mental outlook had improved significantly.

Through his previous observations, Chu Xuan already knew that Ming Xiucheng had been deliberately restraining his team members and hiding the Night Watchers' strength. They could ignore provocations from Tao Jiajia and the Investigation Team, but were not to engage in excessive behavior.

It seemed he was waiting for today's restructuring to completely erupt, clearing internal obstacles with thunderous momentum and seizing the dominant position in one fell swoop.

Chu Xuan wasn't sure if there were some special hidden circumstances involved, but he instinctively felt it shouldn't be that simple.

Beneath this Captain's elegant exterior, his actions were swift and decisive, hiding an irrepressible wildness. Just as Luo Xiaotian had said, he possessed a unique personal Charm.

But in this, there was likely something else...

Chu Xuan glanced at Tang Zheng.

He saw Tang Zheng looking at Ming Xiucheng from time to time, his eyes faintly carrying a hint of admiration.

Before this, Chu Xuan could feel that Tang Zheng had some grievances against the authorities because of the Tao Jiajia situation.

But in just one day—even though he and Tang Zheng hadn't actually done anything and had merely followed along as spectators to see Ming Xiucheng lead the crowd to suppress the various factions in Haicheng and forcefully sweep the Xu Family Manor—

Now, as they spoke of exterminating Specters and everyone responded enthusiastically, Tang Zheng, being in the midst of it, had unknowingly developed a strong sense of belonging.

Chu Xuan leaned forward slightly and gently clenched his fist, controlling himself to also show an excited expression, but a small cloud gradually rose in his heart.

What kind of role was this Captain playing?

Was he human or ghost? Righteous or evil?

He could hardly wait to enter a dream as soon as possible...
