210: The character setting is very useful

Outside the Earth Federation Parliament Building, the night was deep.

Viktor stood on the steps of the Parliament Building, the night wind blowing the cold sweat from his forehead. The urgent breathing of his private army captain came through his communicator.

"Sir, the target has entered the manor. The defense system is weaker than expected," the captain's voice was very low. "We can act at any moment."

Viktor's fingers clenched tightly around the communicator, his knuckles white.

Everything had gone too smoothly. Catherine's sudden resignation, her unprepared return to the manor, and even the security was laxer than usual.

This was not normal, but he had no way out.

"Execute," Viktor's voice was squeezed out, "Leave no one alive."

The communication cut off, and Viktor looked towards the brightly lit Speaker's Manor in the distance.

Speaker's Manor, Master Bedroom

Emma stood by the French window, holding a glass of red wine, a faint smile playing on her lips.

"The target has breached the outer defenses," the voice of the Head of Security came through the communicator. "We've let them in as planned."

Emma's lips curled slightly. She put down her wine glass and slowly walked to the center of the bedroom.

Three seconds later, the window glass shattered silently, and three fully armed private soldiers burst in. Their muzzles immediately locked onto 'Emma' standing in the center of the room.

"Madam Speaker," the leading soldier said coldly, "Commander Viktor sends his regards."

He didn't give 'Emma' any time to react and directly pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three bullets accurately hit her chest. Emma staggered back a few steps, leaning against the wall. What was shocking was that instead of bright red blood, a blue liquid flowed from the wound.

"What!" The leading soldier's eyes widened.

'Emma' looked down at her wound and actually laughed: "It seems Viktor is still the same, always impatient."

'Emma' fell to the ground, her internal organs splattering across half the bedroom due to the cavitation effect. Everything was normal, except for the blue blood and the 'corpse' that could still speak.

"Tell Viktor," 'Emma's' voice remained calm, "The game is over."

As soon as the words fell, all the lights in the manor suddenly went out. Immediately afterward, dazzling white lights illuminated from all directions, making the entire bedroom as bright as day.

"Retreat!" The private army captain shouted sharply, "It's a trap!"

But it was too late.

The walls of the manor suddenly slid open, revealing hidden automatic turrets. The muzzles flashed with dangerous red light, locking onto the intruders.

"Fire," the Head of Security's voice echoed through the manor's broadcast system.

Boom!

High-energy laser beams instantly vaporized the three private soldiers, who didn't even have time to scream.

As for the soldiers responsible for the outer perimeter, they had already 'fallen asleep' peacefully.

"Commander!" The adjutant rushed into Viktor's room in a panic. "The operation failed! The manor was a trap! All our people are out of contact!"

Viktor's face instantly turned pale. His fingers trembled as he pulled up the surveillance footage. On the outskirts of the manor, a dozen charred bodies lay scattered on the ground, some even melted into twisted metal lumps by the high temperature.

"Impossible..." Viktor murmured to himself, "How could she..."

Suddenly, the holographic projection in the room automatically activated, and Catherine's image appeared in mid-air.

"Good evening, Viktor," her voice was terrifyingly calm. "It seems your assassination plan isn't going so well."

Viktor abruptly pulled out his pistol and aimed it at the projection: "Where are you?! Come out!"

Catherine smiled slightly: "Don't worry, we'll meet soon. But before that, there's a show I'd like all Earth Federation citizens to enjoy."

Across the entire Earth Federation, live broadcast began.

Catherine's figure appeared on every public screen, from the giant holographic billboards in the Earth Federation Capital to the communication terminals in the border colonies.

Her face was calm and solemn, with a perfectly appropriate hint of compassion in her eyes.

"Citizens of the Earth Federation," her voice spread through the broadcast system to every corner, "Just yesterday, we all experienced a shameful betrayal."

The screen switched, showing footage of Viktor in a secret meeting room: "...After it's done, these promises can be renegotiated..."

Followed by his conversation with the private army captain: "...Leave no one alive..."

Finally, there was footage of the massacre inside the manor, clearly recording how the assassins sent by Viktor attacked his 'secretary'.

"Our Theater Commander Viktor," Catherine's voice was filled with sorrow, "not only embezzled military supplies on the front lines but also plotted a coup in the rear, even resorting to assassinating colleagues, all for his own selfish desire for power."

Her voice suddenly rose: "And all of this happened while our brave soldiers were fighting bloody battles on the front lines!"

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Parliament Square, looking up at the giant holographic projection. When they saw images of front-line soldiers groaning in pain due to a lack of medical supplies, angry roars erupted from the crowd.

"Execute Viktor!"

"Traitor!"

"Long live Speaker Catherine!"

Catherine's image appeared on the projection at the appropriate moment. She raised her hand, signaling for the crowd to quiet down.

"But today, I have good news for everyone." Her voice suddenly softened. "This meaningless war is about to end."

The screen switched, showing three Brood Motherships slowly landing in Penielgman City. The hatches opened, and Thor led thousands of Brood Scholars and their families out of the spacecraft.

"The enlightened individuals within the Brood Civilization have awakened," Catherine's voice was full of hope. "They have chosen to lay down their weapons and coexist peacefully with us."

The crowd gasped in amazement.

"I know that years of war have brought trauma and hatred to all of us," Catherine continued. "But we always have to live, always have to find a way to get through tomorrow."

"I had a heart-to-heart talk with the enlightened individuals among the Brood, and he agreed with my ideas and is willing to follow my will. As an apology and a show of sincerity, they are willing to share their space travel technology with us."

"And the fleet they possess!"

Deafening cheers erupted in the square.

The Earth Federation news network began to exert its influence simultaneously.

"Unbelievable!" The host's voice trembled with excitement. "Speaker Catherine has not only thwarted the coup but also brought peace and a technological leap to the Earth Federation!"

The invited commentator nodded repeatedly: "This once again proves that Speaker Catherine is the undisputed leader of the Earth Federation! A truly sagacious ruler!"

On social media, the hashtag #LongLiveCatherine instantly soared to the top of the trending topics.

Viktor sat blankly in his chair, Catherine's speech playing on the wall in front of him. When he heard "sharing space travel technology," he suddenly let out a frantic laugh.

"Hahaha..." His laughter was filled with despair. "You've all been fooled by her! Those technologies were originally part of the deal!"

"Follow your will? Hahaha, I understand, I understand!"

"Your ambition is even greater than mine, Queen Speaker!"

...

Penielgman City, Brood Settlement Area.

Thor stood by the window of his temporary residence, looking at the cheering crowd in the distance. His communicator suddenly rang; it was Catherine's encrypted channel.

"How is it," Catherine's voice came through, "Living on the ground, it's much more solid, isn't it."

Thor's beard swayed in the breeze, his eyes narrowed: "I don't mind being used, but don't forget what you promised me."

"Of course," Catherine chuckled, "Penielgman City will always be your home. As long as you keep your promise."

Some deals, there's no need to spell them out. Once the substance is obtained, the superficial aspects often don't matter as much.

The communication cut off, and Thor looked out at the night sky.

In this game, there were no winners, and everyone was a winner.

Catherine stood by the window of the Earth Federation Speaker's office, looking down at the cheering crowd below. Her chief advisor stood behind her, his face showing unconcealed excitement.

"Madam Speaker, public approval ratings have exceeded 90%!" The advisor reported excitedly. "Setting an all-time record for the Earth Federation!"

Catherine smiled slightly: "Notify the propaganda department to intensify their efforts. I want the concept of the 'Catherine Era' to be deeply ingrained in people's minds within a week."

"Yes!" The advisor quickly left.

Catherine turned and looked at the holographic star map, watching the Genoq Star slowly rotate.

"Sagacious ruler?" She murmured softly, "That invited commentator sure knows how to flatter..."

"But, this title, it's not bad at all."
