370: The Arrival of the Order Walker
Deep beneath the surface, in the Realm of Order, Taiyi's dark spherical body suddenly rippled.
"What is this?"
Taiyi could sense several massive metallic constructs appearing beyond the planet's orbit.
Although Taiyi, as a nascent Star God, couldn't fully comprehend the technology and intentions of the interstellar fleet, a voice deep within Its consciousness warned It.
These constructs contained things that could harm It.
A flicker of unease crossed Taiyi's consciousness. It began to carefully sense the presences in orbit, trying to understand the source of this feeling of threat.
Through deeper perception, Taiyi discovered that within one particularly massive vessel, there was an energy fluctuation that made It tremble.
Although this energy fluctuation was shielded by layers, it still revealed a terrifying power capable of tearing apart stars.
"Threat. Must be eliminated."
Though it was a fleeting moment, the emotion of "fear" appeared in Taiyi's consciousness for the first time.
It didn't understand what "Pillar of Heaven" meant, but instinct told It that this threat must be prevented from approaching.
At the same time, Taiyi also sensed another threat from the other side of the planet.
Unlike the danger outside the planet, what the other side of the planet brought to It was a premonition of death.
"Internal and external troubles..." This thought flashed through Taiyi's mind.
The geometric patterns on the surface of the sphere began to emit dazzling light, and countless memory particles drifted out from the sphere. These mnemosynes floated upwards like fireflies, penetrating the rock layers and seeping into the atmosphere.
"This planet must be sealed." Taiyi made up Its mind. It began to mobilize all of Its power of order, releasing more mnemosynes into the atmosphere.
This process was not easy.
As a nascent Star God, Taiyi's control over the power of order was not yet proficient. But It had no other choice now. Only by sealing off the entire planet could it prevent external threats from entering.
It needed to focus all Its energy on dealing with the entity that brought the premonition of death.
The mnemosynes gathered in the atmosphere, gradually forming an invisible barrier. This barrier did not obstruct physical passage but could filter consciousness. Any organic life attempting to cross the barrier would have its consciousness forcibly stripped away, plummeting into the Divine Kingdom of Order constructed by Taiyi, leaving only an empty shell of a body.
When the mnemosyne barrier fully formed outside the Three-Body Star atmosphere, Taiyi felt a brief moment of relief. The sense of threat from those external metallic constructs was isolated, and now It could concentrate on dealing with the premonition of death from within the planet.
"Must speed up..."
The original tactic of gradually depleting the Nova People through monster waves seemed too slow. Under the pressure of the premonition of death, It needed a more direct, more efficient means to clear the "source of chaos" on this planet.
"Order needs more direct executors." Its thoughts swept over the relatively intact Nova People soldier corpses stored in the Realm of Order.
These corpses were collected in previous battles; their bodies were relatively intact, only their consciousness had been devoured.
A strong light suddenly illuminated the center of the sphere, and the power of order flowed out like a tangible substance, injecting into the suspended corpses.
These corpses began to change; their pale skin gradually took on a metallic luster, purplish-gold light shone in their empty eye sockets, and their incomplete limbs began to regrow and repair.
Although they looked somewhat like puppets.
The first Order Walker descended from its suspended state, kneeling on one knee. Then came the second, the third... Soon, an army composed of "resurrected" corpses stood in the Realm of Order.
These "people" were no longer simple walking dead. Their bodies were completely transformed by the power of path; visible golden light flowed beneath their skin, their eyes were like two stars, and an suffocating aura emanated from their entire bodies.
"Go, execute the will of Order." Taiyi gave the command.
The Order Walkers simultaneously looked up, a flash of light in their golden eyes. They turned in unison, like puppets controlled by the same string, and walked towards the exit of the Realm of Order.
The moment the first batch of Order Walkers emerged from the underground realm, stepped onto the Three-Body Star surface, and appeared on the front lines, the outermost defenses of the Nova People immediately felt an unprecedented pressure.
These "resurrected" soldiers, transformed by the power of order, were no longer the half-instinctive monsters from before, but had become true killing machines.
"Report! Eastern defense line under attack by unknown enemies!" The urgent voice of a frontline soldier came through the communicator, "They... they're too fast! Our firepower can't even lock on!"
In the frontline command post, the Commander witnessed the Order Walkers' first sortie through monitoring screens.
These figures, emanating purplish-gold light, traversed the battlefield at incredible speed, changing the tide of the battle.
They moved through a hail of bullets; ordinary bullets struck their skin with a metallic clang and then ricocheted. Even when directly hit by heavy weapons, they merely slowed down for a moment, the purplish-gold light on their bodies flickered a few times, and then they continued to advance.
"Use armor-piercing rounds! Anti-armor missiles!"
But very quickly, the frontline's response plunged everyone in the command post into despair: "Ineffective! Repeat! Attack ineffective! Armor-piercing rounds can only—"
No one paid attention to the rest of the sentence, because they had already seen the footage.
On the screen, an Order Walker precisely caught a flying missile with a raised hand, and with a gentle squeeze of his fingers, the missile exploded in his hand, the shockwave merely causing his clothes to flutter slightly.
One of the Order Walkers raised his hand, and the mech in front of him seemed to be controlled by an invisible force, floating into mid-air, then its body was twisted into an unnatural shape. Where another Order Walker's gaze fell, the metal casing of an armored vehicle began to melt and deform.
"Retreat! Immediately retreat to the second defense line!"
But the Order Walkers' advance speed far exceeded their imagination. In just three days, the first defense line, composed of the most advanced unmanned combat mechs, completely collapsed.
These expensive war machines were like toys in front of these "humans," easily torn to shreds.
On the second defense line, the Nova People soldiers had constructed stronger fortifications and were equipped with more powerful firepower. But they quickly discovered that against the Order Walkers, both quantity and quality lost their meaning.
Perhaps there was a limit, but it was certainly not one they could reach.
At dawn on the fifth day, when the last stronghold of the second defense line was breached, Kane received the worst news in his office: "Mr. President, the enemy has broken through to the third defense line! Only fifty kilometers from the Capital!"
