76: Chapter 76 No, it's... home.

The helicopter propellers were still roaring.

Instructor Lei Zhan and Lin Fan, those two inhuman beings, one after the other, vanished into the swirling yellow sand in the blink of an eye.

The remaining instructors stood where they were, staring at each other, left in a chaotic daze by the wind.

"Um..."

The pilot poked his head out, his Adam's apple bobbing, his voice trembling.

"When Chief Instructor Lei Zhan left just now... didn't he say to protect Instructor Chen Feng, Lin Fan, and the helicopter?"

Everyone nodded in unison.

That's right, everyone heard that.

Instructor Lei Zhan's booming voice had left their eardrums ringing even now.

"But..."

A young instructor pointed in the direction where the two had vanished, his mouth twitching.

"That kid Lin Fan ran off! And he ran faster than a rabbit! How are we supposed to protect him?"

Protect my foot!

That guy was just riding a Level 5 Thunder Prison Mad Bull around earlier!

And now he dares to go straight after a flying Level 5 Monster!

Does a person like that need protection?

"Ahem."

Another slightly more senior instructor cleared his throat, breaking the silence first.

He glanced at Instructor Chen Feng, who was still groaning and half-dead on the ground, and then looked at the armed helicopter worth hundreds of millions.

Finally, his gaze landed in the direction where Lin Fan had vanished.

His eyes instantly became incredibly determined.

"Let's get the helicopter in the air first! Save the aircraft! Trust Instructor Lei Zhan!"

"That's right! If we lose the helicopter, we're in too much danger in this core area!"

"This place is full of high-level monsters. If the helicopter breaks, we'll all have to walk back, and that'll be like delivering a buffet to the monsters!"

Everyone chimed in.

In reality, everyone knew perfectly well.

Chase?

With what?

That was the speed of a high-level Level 5 Monster!

Instructor Lei Zhan is a Level 6 Martial Saint, and Lin Fan is some unknown freak.

If their group rushed up there, other than feeding the enemy, there would be no tactical value at all.

Murong Yan stood at the cabin door, her long legs tensed.

She looked in the direction where Lin Fan had vanished, her fists clenched until they creaked.

Her cold, beautiful face was full of conflict.

She really wanted to chase after him.

She wanted to see what kind of trouble that bastard was trying to stir up.

She even wanted to personally catch that ignorant guy, beat him up, and drag him back.

But.

Reason told her she couldn't go.

"Hoo..."

Murong Yan let out a long breath, her chest heaving.

She was very clear about her position.

She was one of the top-ranked students in terms of combat power.

But in a place like this core area, facing swarms of high-level monsters, she was nothing more than a Level 3 Martial Master.

The baseline here was Level 4 monsters.

As a Level 3 Martial Master, if she went, she would just be in the way.

That guy Lin Fan had thick skin and flesh, and his Defense was freakishly high; he could move through that pack of monsters like a fish in water.

But she couldn't.

If she went, Lin Fan and Instructor Lei Zhan would have to divide their attention to protect her.

Murong Yan would absolutely never do something that would hold them back.

"Wanqiu, let's get on board too."

Murong Yan turned around and grabbed Xia Wanqiu, who was still gazing into the distance.

Xia Wanqiu's big eyes were red, and she looked pitiful.

Her white lab coat was covered in dust, but it still couldn't hide that gentle, healing aura of hers.

Especially now, with her terrified appearance, it made one want to give her their heart just to comfort her.

"But... Lin Fan, he..."

Xia Wanqiu bit her lip, her voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz.

"He's fine."

Murong Yan rolled her eyes, her tone certain.

"That guy is a menace. As the saying goes, the good die young while the wicked live for a thousand years. The person who could take him down hasn't even been born yet!"

"Hurry up and heal Instructor Chen Feng; that's the important thing."

The two of them worked together to drag Instructor Chen Feng, who was like a dead dog, back into the cabin.

The helicopter quickly ascended and hovered at an altitude of several hundred meters.

Looking down from above, everyone stared at the treacherous Gobi Desert below, feeling a lingering fear in their hearts.

"I hope Instructor Lei Zhan and that reckless kid are alright..."

The pilot wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and muttered softly.

Inside the cabin, the atmosphere was somewhat gloomy.

Everyone's gaze was, intentionally or unintentionally, directed at Xia Wanqiu, who was channeling healing energy to Instructor Chen Feng.

Everyone had a huge question in their hearts.

That Lin Fan...

What kind of species is he, exactly?

"Um... classmate Xia Wanqiu."

Finally, one bold freshman couldn't help but ask.

"Is Lin Fan... always this brave?"

"Yeah, how exactly did he become the national top scorer? Did he act this... this inhuman during the exam too?"

Everyone's ears perked up.

This was first-hand gossip material!

The green light in Xia Wanqiu's hands paused slightly.

Her delicate little face instantly flushed bright red, all the way to her earlobes.

She remembered all of Lin Fan's "evil deeds" at school.

She remembered his shameless look on the arena stage, begging others to hit him.

She remembered his shameless actions, using all sorts of taunts to provoke his opponents just to soak up some damage.

"He..."

Xia Wanqiu stammered, her eyes darting around, not daring to look her classmates in the eye at all.

How could she explain this?

Should she say he's a masochist?

Say that he feels uncomfortable all over if he doesn't get beaten up for a day?

That would be too embarrassing!

Being embarrassing in middle school was one thing, but now they were freshmen at Magic City Ability University!

"He, he has always been like this..."

Xia Wanqiu struggled for a long time before finally squeezing out an ambiguous sentence.

"He just relied on this... reckless drive, and forcefully charged his way to become the national number one."

After saying this, she quickly lowered her head, pretending to focus on healing Instructor Chen Feng.

In her heart, however, she cursed that bastard Lin Fan ten thousand times.

Lin Fan!

You big idiot!

Why do you have to do such embarrassing things with such a handsome face!

Meanwhile.

On the ground.

Two figures were speeding along rapidly.

"Lin Fan! You little brat! Slow down for me!"

Instructor Lei Zhan roared from behind as he ran.

Up ahead, not only did Lin Fan not slow down his Thunder Prison Mad Bull, he even turned his head and made a face at Instructor Lei Zhan.

"Instructor! Your physical fitness isn't up to par! Have you been sitting in the office too much lately, getting out of shape?"

"Out of shape? Out of shape your grandpa!"

Instructor Lei Zhan was so angry he almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

He exerted force with his feet, instantly blasting a large crater into the ground, and transformed into a blur as he charged forward.

The wind howled.

Instructor Lei Zhan felt like he had used up all the curse words of his life today.

As a dignified Level 6 Martial Saint, he was usually a figure whose word was law and who commanded awe in the military camp.

As long as he glared, which troublemaker soldier wouldn't be scared until their legs turned to jelly?

But today.

He had met his match.

"Lin Fan! Are you missing a screw in your head?!"

"That is a high-level Level 5 Shadow Bat King! It's not some free-range chicken you raised at home!"

"What the hell are you chasing it for! What can you even do if you catch up?!"

Instructor Lei Zhan was running wildly, spitting as he shouted.

He was truly anxious.

That was a flying monster!

He was running on the ground while it was flying in the sky; he was already at a disadvantage.

On top of that, having to divide his attention to take care of this suicidal Lin Fan, Instructor Lei Zhan felt his blood pressure skyrocketing at 180 miles per hour.

"Instructor, your vocabulary for cursing is quite rich!"

Lin Fan was in front, his five-legged Thunder Prison Mad Bull sprinting wildly.

Although he didn't have the speed of a Martial Saint, the Thunder Prison Mad Bull wasn't slow!

Furthermore, Lin Fan didn't even look at the road when he ran!

If he encountered a rock, he just had the Thunder Prison Mad Bull smash it; if he encountered thorns, he just plowed right through!

His main approach was just being stubborn and reckless!

That was why he could keep up with Instructor Lei Zhan.

In reality, in terms of straight-line speed, the Thunder Prison Mad Bull still couldn't match Instructor Lei Zhan.

Listening to Instructor Lei Zhan's roar, Lin Fan was not only unafraid, but he even turned his head with an expression of enjoyment.

"Well said! Instructor, you are absolutely right!"

"I am missing a screw in your head! I am suicidal!"

"But Instructor, I still suggest you just hit me directly, or use the knife in your hand! I haven't tried that yet!"

Instructor Lei Zhan stumbled, almost taking a spill.

He looked at the back of that guy ahead with a shameless grin, so angry his hands were shaking.

Hit you?

Hit your mom!

Every bit of my energy right now needs to be saved to deal with that beast!

Hitting you, other than letting you, this freak, get a kick out of it, what use would it be?

Instructor Lei Zhan ignored Lin Fan, gritting his back teeth, glaring hatefully at the huge shadow in the sky.

"This damn thing won't stop! If only I could fly!"

That Shadow Bat King seemed to have noticed the pursuers behind it.

But it didn't take these two two-legged beasts on the ground seriously at all.

It carried the unlucky Instructor Li Laishi in its mouth, and with a single flap of its wings, it traveled dozens of meters; its speed was astonishing.

"Don't run! Put my instructor down!"

Lin Fan was shouting and hollering below, even picking up a rock to throw at the sky.

Although it couldn't hit it at all, it was extremely insulting.

The Shadow Bat King let out a sharp screech, seemingly mocking this stupid human.

Two men and two beasts, just like that, staged a life-and-death speed race on the Gobi Desert.

Nearly ten minutes passed.

Finally, the Shadow Bat King's flight altitude dropped.

"Whoosh—!"

It folded its wings and dove straight into a huge cave entrance!

Then it hung above the cave, its scarlet eyes staring at Lin Fan and Instructor Lei Zhan.

After Lin Fan caught up, he patted the Thunder Prison Mad Bull's rear.

He raised an eyebrow, "Yo, is this guy tired? Not running anymore?"

"No," a drop of sweat rolled down Instructor Lei Zhan's forehead, "it's just... home."

After saying this, his peripheral vision swept around.

Besides the huge cave entrance in front of them, there were many other huge caverns around!

Each one was radiating the aura of a Level 5 Monster!
