Farewell, reconnection!
After walking a good distance, Zhao Dongchuan immediately turned into a small alley, put on his system glasses, and took out his bicycle from his spatial dimension.
Tomorrow is the day to deliver the goods to Li Dadan, and he needs to make some preparations in advance.
Before long, he arrived at a secluded small courtyard.
The courtyard was quiet and empty. Zhao Dongchuan took out a key, opened the gate, and walked in.
He had to thank Section Chief Qian from the garment factory for helping him find such a good place!
He was truly a good man. After some "friendly negotiations" to facilitate better cooperation, he rented this courtyard to him at a low price.
This was where the batch of "waste products" from the garment factory was previously handled. Last time when he and Hu Jianjun came, there was a person receiving the goods, but now that person was gone, likely transferred to another place by Section Chief Qian.
Zhao Dongchuan found this location very secluded and had his eye on it since his last visit.
Later, he made time to visit Section Chief Qian again. After some discussions, Section Chief Qian was very "understanding" of his difficult situation with no place to stay, and reluctantly gave up this courtyard to him.
After getting the key, this was Zhao Dongchuan's first time coming here.
Although Li Dadan had said he would help him look for a place, with so much valuable merchandise, he didn't trust anyone else.
Zhao Dongchuan entered the inner house. There were four rooms in total, about a hundred square meters, and a kitchen at the back. It was more than enough space for his goods.
He secretly guessed that this was originally a family home, and perhaps the whole family had moved to Hong Kong.
He went to a small room at the back, took out his teleportation bracelet, and with a thought, marked the spatial coordinates of this place.
From now on, he could use the teleportation bracelet to travel back and forth here, making future trips to Pengcheng very convenient.
Since it was just a temporary warehouse, the previous occupants hadn't maintained it well. Although empty, it was full of trash and dust.
He found a broom and a dustpan behind the door, took out an enamel washbasin from his spatial dimension, drew some water from a well on the west side of the courtyard, and began to clean.
It took an hour for the place to become somewhat tidy. Since it was just for storing things and not for living, there was no need to make it perfectly clean; good enough would suffice.
After washing his hands and face, Zhao Dongchuan locked the courtyard gate and the inner house, rode his bicycle away, and returned to the guesthouse.
The next morning, Zhao Dongchuan quickly tidied up and rode his bicycle to the Department Store. Unsure of what the evening would bring, he decided to say hello to Li Yuer.
Entering the Department Store and arriving at the electronics section, Li Yuer was assisting a customer who wanted to buy a radio.
He didn't interrupt and waited nearby. Li Yuer smiled and nodded when she saw him.
After collecting the money and tickets, Li Yuer wrote out the receipt, wrapped the radio, and handed it to the customer.
"Why are you here?"
"I'm leaving in a couple of days, so I came to say goodbye!"
Li Yuer's expression clearly became a little sad.
"Wait a moment, I'll ask for leave!"
"Is that necessary?"
"It's fine! Just half a day off!"
Before long, the two left the Department Store together.
"Have you bought your ticket yet?"
"Not yet, I'll buy it later!"
"Oh, by the way, do you know where the transport team is? Let's go find Hu Jianjun together!" Zhao Dongchuan said.
"Let's go, I'll lead the way!"
The two then went to the transport team, only to find out that Hu Jianjun was on a mission in the next county today and wasn't here. He might not be back for a few days.
Zhao Dongchuan quickly wrote a letter to Hu Jianjun, asked a Comrade from the transport team to deliver it, and then left.
It was almost noon, so Zhao Dongchuan invited Li Yuer to eat at a state-run restaurant near the Department Store.
Due to the impending farewell, Li Yuer was visibly downcast, but she didn't want Zhao Dongchuan to notice, so she forced a cheerful demeanor, chatting and laughing as if nothing was wrong.
Zhao Dongchuan ate and chatted with Li Yuer. Even after they finished eating, neither of them mentioned when they would see each other next.
Given Pengcheng's current situation, and with it being a special period, coming here was very troublesome. Li Yuer knew very well that the excuse of "cultural exchange" couldn't be used again for at least this year.
And Zhao Dongchuan, he certainly couldn't tell her he could actually teleport here, could he? That was something he definitely couldn't tell anyone.
So, in the future, they could only communicate through letters!
After bidding farewell to Li Yuer, Zhao Dongchuan went straight back to the guesthouse, read a book for a while, practiced his skills, rested for a bit, then packed his things and went to the front desk to pay for his room.
With his satchel on his back, he left the guesthouse and rode his bicycle directly to Li Dadan's courtyard.
"Knock, knock, knock!" Zhao Dongchuan knocked on the door.
Li Dadan, who had been waiting there, opened the door and welcomed him in.
"You're here!" Li Dadan said with a smile when he saw Zhao Dongchuan.
"Yes, how are things?"
"It's all taken care of. The goods will arrive tonight. Let's go, I'll take you there!"
With that, Li Dadan led Zhao Dongchuan, and the two rode their bicycles, one in front and one behind, heading forward.
After many twists and turns, they arrived at a secluded courtyard. There were already quite a few people inside, preparing for work. Many bicycles were tied with ropes, and there was even a truck, though Li Dadan's source for it was unknown.
This was truly a gang operation! A professional team!
"This is Mr. Han, our big client!"
"This is Ah Lin, he's in charge of receiving the goods!"
Li Dadan pointed to a tall, muscular man with a strong physique as he introduced him.
Ah Lin extended his hand and shook Zhao Dongchuan's, saying with a smile, "Mr. Han, don't worry, we will definitely deliver the goods safely into your hands!"
"Thank you, Brother Lin!"
"Mr. Han, you're too kind, it's our duty!"
After greeting everyone, Li Dadan and Zhao Dongchuan found two chairs and sat down to chat.
Zhao Dongchuan chatted with Li Dadan while observing his surroundings.
Suddenly, in a corner of the inner room, he saw several long rifles, which looked like the type commonly used by militiamen.
These were the ones he saw; there were probably more he didn't see, an unknown number of guns.
Clearly, this was an organized, armed gang with firepower!
Li Dadan checked his watch and said, "Brothers, it's almost time. Let's go!"
Immediately, everyone loaded their bicycles into the truck bed. Several young men also carried rifles out of the inner room and squeezed into the truck with everyone else.
"Rumble!" The truck started and drove towards a certain location.
The truck twisted and turned, bumping along the road. Everyone was silent, clearly accustomed to it.
Zhao Dongchuan sat with Li Dadan inside the truck bed. On the outer side were the young men carrying rifles, while the others held large knives.
Li Dadan wasn't carrying anything openly, leading Zhao Dongchuan to guess that he likely had a pistol concealed on him.
About an hour later, the truck stopped, having reached its destination, and everyone swarmed out.
