I am Han Li
After the matter was settled, Zhao Dongchuan bought a hard sleeper ticket to Shenzhen and once again boarded the train bound for Shenzhen.
This time, he was luckier and managed to get a lower berth ticket.
During the journey, Zhao Dongchuan still read books and did practice problems.
The people around him were quite curious, occasionally glancing at him, and his bunkmates asked him many questions, inquiring about his background.
Zhao Dongchuan casually made up some information to fob them off, not paying them any mind, and soon three days passed, and he arrived in Shenzhen again.
Upon arrival, he went to the guesthouse he had stayed in before, registered for a room, washed up, took out the food he had brought from his space, ate a simple meal, and then headed straight for the “black market” near Luohu.
Donning his system glasses to conceal his identity, Zhao Dongchuan paid the “protection fee” and then, familiar with the routine, entered the market.
He observed the market situation; it seemed there were no changes. That made sense; it had only been a month since his last visit, and the people running the market here were quite professional, with good security.
He went to the spot where he had last met Li Dadan, only to find that it had been taken by someone else, and the stall owner was not Li Dadan.
He figured as much; professional “smugglers” were busy and wouldn't set up a stall there every day waiting for him.
Zhao Dongchuan wasn't discouraged and wandered around the market, finding stalls selling electronic watches, but there weren't many goods, the styles weren't appealing, and the quality seemed inferior.
Zhao Dongchuan checked around and found that the prices quoted were even higher than Li Dadan's.
It seemed that Li Dadan wasn't entirely boasting; he genuinely wanted to establish a distribution channel and do long-term business.
He estimated that there was indeed a “big brother” behind him who was doing well in Hong Kong, with his own factory, otherwise there wouldn't be a continuous supply of goods with good quality.
Thinking of this, he decided to wait for Li Dadan. When he left last time, he said he usually came to set up a stall here on Wednesdays. Today was Monday, so there were 2 more days, and he would wait for him.
For the next two days, other than making a fixed trip to the market to see if Li Dadan was there, Zhao Dongchuan stayed in the guesthouse, doing practice problems, reading books, and practicing Basic Qi Cultivation.
He didn't want his two friends in Shenzhen, Li Yuer and Hu Jianjun, to know he had come. After all, coming all this way was troublesome, and if he came too often, they might suspect his motives were impure, and there was no need to take that risk.
On Wednesday, Zhao Dongchuan arrived at the market and, as expected, saw Li Dadan in another corner of the market.
Li Dadan was still the same as when he first met him, with a middle part, fashionable clothes, and wearing a pair of aviator sunglasses.
He was currently talking to a customer who wanted a radio, but they couldn't agree on the price and were haggling. Finally, Li Dadan lowered the price a bit, and the deal was made.
Zhao Dongchuan watched Li Dadan put a wad of money into his fanny pack and then walked over.
“Boss Li, long time no see. Looks like business is good, making a fortune!”
“Haha, my friend, you're joking. Small business, small business!” Li Dadan looked at Zhao Dongchuan with a bewildered expression, clearly not remembering him.
“It seems Boss Li has a lot on his mind and has forgotten me!” Zhao Dongchuan teased.
“To be honest, I really can't remember. My friend, give me a hint.”
“I came from the north. A month ago, I bought 20 electronic watches from you. Boss Li, think again!”
“Oh, oh, it's you! I knew it looked like you, but I didn't dare to assume!” Li Dadan said, quickly pulling out a small stool and handing it to Zhao Dongchuan.
Zhao Dongchuan didn't stand on ceremony, took the small stool, and the two began to chat.
Knowing that Zhao Dongchuan was there to get goods, Li Dadan wasn't surprised. In those days, getting goods and selling them inland still had good prospects, and he had several long-term partners.
“You want 200 watches?” Li Dadan said with a bit of surprise.
These watches, while not a huge amount, were not a small number either. In those days, not many people could take on such a quantity.
“I'm telling you, the price I gave you last time was already a low price. I genuinely want to be friends with you. Even though you really want 200 pieces this time, I can't lower the price anymore!!!” Li Dadan said seriously.
“Understood, I know. Thanks for your consideration, Boss Li, it's still the original price!”
Seeing Zhao Dongchuan being so understanding, Li Dadan genuinely wanted to be friends with him. Although he had only felt that Zhao Dongchuan was a good person before and did him a favor, now, he thought the man was alright.
Li Dadan simply packed up his stall and left the market with Zhao Dongchuan. On the way, he didn't say where they were going or what they were doing, just told Zhao Dongchuan to follow him.
Although Zhao Dongchuan wondered what this guy was up to, he was skilled and bold. With his superior physical fitness and Seizing Skill combined with the Breath Concealment Technique, even if Li Dadan wanted to trick him, he wasn't afraid.
If that were the case, he wouldn't mind teaching Li Dadan a lesson.
Fortunately, Li Dadan seemed to only want to test his courage and wasn't genuinely trying to trick him, leading him to an alley near the train station.
“This is one of my residences, come in,” Li Dadan led him into a small courtyard.
Zhao Dongchuan naturally wasn't afraid and followed him in.
Li Dadan secretly nodded. This person indeed had courage, dared to venture and strive, had capital, and had ideas. He could be a close friend.
He had no idea that Zhao Dongchuan was a “cheater” and not within the realm of normal reasoning.
From a room, Li Dadan dragged out a large snakeskin bag, opened the mouth of the bag, and inside were all electronic watches.
“These are the smuggled goods I just got from my brother last week. Count them to see if there are enough, they're all here!” Li Dadan said, then sat down to the side and lit a cigarette for himself.
Zhao Dongchuan didn't waste words and started counting directly.
“There are probably around 250 pieces here. I'll take 200. Does that work for you?”
“No problem, if they run out, we'll get more. These things are easy to produce; it's just a bit of trouble to get them off the ship and over here, but it's not a big deal, we have the capability!” Li Dadan said with a laugh.
Zhao Dongchuan fumbled in his backpack, actually taking out a large bag from his space, and put all 200 watches into it.
He then took out a wad of Great Unity bills from his backpack, a total of 3000 yuan, and gave it to Li Dadan. Li Dadan quickly counted them on the side; the 300 Great Unity bills were quickly tallied and put into his fanny pack.
“Brother, you've got guts. We're officially acquainted today. My name is Li Xiaojie, known as Li Dadan. From now on, we're friends. You'll get to know Old Li's character as we spend more time together!”
“I am Han Li, also known as Old Devil Han!” Zhao Dongchuan said, shaking hands with Li Xiaojie.
Old Devil Han? Is that nickname serious?
Seeing Li Xiaojie's strange expression, Zhao Dongchuan couldn't help but laugh.
“Hahaha, just call me Xiao Han. That nickname was something I made up. I don't have a nickname. Isn't it just to make myself sound more impressive!”
“You're an interesting fellow, my friend. No worries, Xiao Han it is. We'll take our time getting to know each other!” He then tried to drag Zhao Dongchuan to a restaurant.
