Restart sales plan
Days passed, and New Year's Day was approaching. Zhao Dongchuan wondered if he should return to Yuanxi County and also visit Shuangshui Village. It had been two months since he last went back.
According to the plot's progression, Sun Shaoan and He Xiulian were about to get married. The plot of ordinary world always advanced quickly. During this period, he could develop new side quests, and not all plotlines required his involvement.
Through his several interventions, he had already resolved some tragedies from the original work, such as the dam collapse that drowned Jin Junbin, which he rewrote. In the future, Wang Cai'e would likely not have the "porridge incident" with Sun Yuting, nor would she get involved with Xu Zhigong.
Furthermore, he had been continuously helping Sun Shaoping, paying for his meals, guiding his studies, buying study materials, and tutoring him, seemingly becoming his "nanny."
All of this was in hopes that Sun Shaoping would have a good future, avoiding too great a disparity with Tian Xiaoxia, which could create unnecessary obstacles.
There's a song called "Young and Promising," which has a lyric: "If I were young and promising... not insecure... knowing what's precious!" It's full of regret!
In his previous life, during his youth, Zhao Dongchuan also had a few figures enter his heart, but insecurity, lack of confidence, and family differences led him to bury his youth early. Therefore, he greatly hoped that with his help, Sun Shaoping could overcome these obstacles.
"Because I've been rained on, when I have the ability, I'll think of holding an umbrella for others!" It was this mentality that made Zhao Dongchuan help Sun Shaoping like a "nanny."
Another reason was that he preferred "comedies" and "happy endings." Life was already difficult enough; he didn't need to remind people of that. He just wanted to make the world a little better.
The same applied to Tian Runye; he wished them happiness!
Zhao Dongchuan shook his head, pulling back these diverging thoughts, and began to plan.
It was nearing the end of the month, and the new issue of "Yan River" journal was about to be released. The magazine would send him advance copies, royalties, and other rewards, along with the official notification. With these, Director Wang could report it to the Cultural Bureau, and he could get a "promotion and raise" next year.
Of course, these were not what he desired most. What he wanted was "freedom." With the identity of a "writer" as a cover, he could develop side quests everywhere, claiming it was for gathering material for writing.
As long as it was plausible, no one would delve deeper. As long as he was careful, with the various treasures, skills, and cultivation methods revealed by the system, he could disregard many rules and do what he wanted.
One day, after he finished breakfast and was passing the Cultural Center's gatehouse with his bag, the gatekeeper handed him several letters.
Zhao Dongchuan looked at them; they were from Li Yuer and Hu Jianjun in Pengcheng, and also a letter from his parents in his Hometown.
"I'm sorry, these letters arrived a few days ago and have been sitting here. I'm old and confused; I forgot to give them to Teacher Jia! Please don't mind!" The gatekeeper smiled a bit awkwardly.
Zhao Dongchuan could only nod helplessly and said, "I understand. It's probably nothing major. Thank you!"
Then he walked off by himself!
Taking the letters, he went to his office and began to read them. Li Yuer talked about what had happened on her side and some potential changes, and she also invited him to Pengcheng again. She even included an invitation letter, stamped with the seal of the Bao'an County Cultural Bureau. She said that for some reason, they were now very strict with outsiders there.
It wasn't like before, where they only checked packages; now, without a legitimate reason, people would be repatriated. So, she had to ask her father for this invitation letter, and in doing so, she had to reveal his identity.
Zhao Dongchuan felt deeply apologetic about this. Li Yuer had thought of everything for him, but he hadn't really thought much about her. This seemed a bit scummy, Zhao Dongchuan couldn't help but touch his nose.
Zhao Dongchuan immediately picked up his pen and wrote a reply, expressing his gratitude and also talking about some things that had happened on his side, as well as the progress of his novel's publication, indicating that he would go to Shenzhen again when the time was right.
Hu Jianjun's letter was simpler, just talking about daily life and mentioning that he had now become the deputy leader of the transport team.
Skipping that, Zhao Dongchuan opened the letter from his parents.
Besides daily greetings and concerns, the letter also asked if he could come home for New Year's Day. The Spring Festival was approaching, and they missed their son very much.
Zhao Dongchuan picked up his pen to reply, recounting his recent activities and the good news of his new work being published, hoping his distant parents would be happier. He then stated that he could go home for the Spring Festival if nothing unexpected happened and he had time off.
After finishing the letters, over an hour had passed. Zhao Dongchuan greeted Jia Bing, mailed the letters, and then returned directly to his dormitory.
Most of his work was caught up, and there wasn't much to do now, so he naturally wouldn't stay idly in the office.
Back in the dormitory, Zhao Dongchuan changed his clothes and went out.
At a certain corner, he silently put on his system glasses.
Today was the day he had agreed upon with Huang Laosan. Zhao Dongchuan went to a state-run restaurant and ordered a bowl of white noodles with meat, which smelled exceptionally fragrant!
By the time he finished his bowl of noodles, he already saw Huang Laosan waiting quietly at the entrance.
Zhao Dongchuan put down his chopsticks, wiped his mouth, and walked straight outside. Huang Laosan followed a moment later. The two turned left and right, arriving at a small dirt mound.
"How did it go?" Zhao Dongchuan asked.
"Mr. Han, things went smoothly. I sold quite a few watches in a black market, and many people were interested, asking if I could give them a wholesale price!"
At this moment, Huang Laosan was no longer dressed in his previous scruffy attire. After following Zhao Dongchuan, he had changed into common work clothes, and he looked much more refined.
"Hmm, alright. For two or more, it's 10 yuan less per unit. For five or more, it's 20 yuan less... You decide the specifics. Anyway, we won't lose money. With people helping to sell, we just sit back and collect money!"
"By the way, are there other brands of these watches on the market now?" Zhao Dongchuan suddenly asked.
"Yes, but the quality isn't as good as ours. They're all plastic goods; they stop running after a while!" Huang Laosan replied respectfully.
"Mm-hmm, good. How have you resolved your own matters?"
"I've tried my best to make amends. Most families have accepted the apologies and compensation, but some of the families I had treated quite badly didn't respond to me. They've already reported me to the authorities, luckily I ran fast!"
"Hmm..." Zhao Dongchuan was noncommittal about this.
Then Huang Laosan reported some rumors from the underworld and the market, and then handed a package to Zhao Dongchuan, which contained all the money from the sales.
Zhao Dongchuan pulled out ten large bills and gave them to Huang Laosan, saying, "Take these. Go back and buy some clothes and food for your old mother ~ And be careful in your actions ~"
With that, he turned and left. Huang Laosan also turned and disappeared into a courtyard.
