Tian Runye, a once-in-a-century
Zhao Dongchuan stopped, feeling both familiar and strange.
He remembered this place; it was the County Revolutionary Committee compound where Tian Fujun, Tian Runye's Second Uncle, worked, and where county officials resided.
This was a major setting in the story, home to the two goddesses, Tian Runye and Tian Xiaoxia, who were often the source of 'regret' for the audience.
Thinking of this, Zhao Dongchuan inexplicably wanted to laugh.
The audience could only watch through a screen, but he had directly 'drilled' into the television to watch.
This feeling, he thought, could probably only be understood by fellow transmigrators.
Zhao Dongchuan chuckled to himself, a bit self-indulgent, and continued pushing his bicycle forward.
Just as he was about to ask someone for directions to the County Cultural Center, he heard someone seemingly calling his name, a voice that sounded somewhat familiar.
"Brother Dong, Brother Dong, wait for me!"
Zhao Dongchuan turned his head in the direction of the voice and saw a man and a woman walking towards him.
The man was Sun Shaoping, whom he had seen that morning.
The woman, in her early twenties, was pushing a bicycle, her hair in two braids, wearing a red floral cotton jacket, and had a beautiful appearance.
"Brother Dong, where are you off to? Have you finished your business?"
"It's Shaoping! Almost, I went to the post office to send a letter home.
And now, I'm just about to go to the Cultural Center to look for some materials," Zhao Dongchuan said with a smile.
"Shaoping, who is this?" the woman asked curiously.
"Sister Runye, this is Zhao Dongchuan, the educated youth from our village whom I told you about.
He's the one who helped bring over the pickled vegetables."
"Ah, so this is Tian Runye.
Hmm, indeed a beautiful face, very pleasant to look at," Zhao Dongchuan thought to himself.
"Hello!
I was just thinking of finding an opportunity to thank you, and now I've run into you.
Thank you so much! I really love my mother's pickled vegetables; they've satisfied my craving," Runye said with a smile.
"No need to thank me.
This trip to the city was thanks to Secretary Tian lending me his bicycle.
Otherwise, walking would have taken half a day and been exhausting.
Having a bicycle saves me a lot of trouble," Zhao Dongchuan quickly waved his hand.
"Well, you two carry on.
I'm off to the Cultural Center to find some materials."
Zhao Dongchuan probably guessed that this was the scene of Sun Shaoping and Tian Xiaoxia's first meeting at the County Revolutionary Committee compound.
He didn't want to ruin this beautiful first encounter, so he planned to leave quickly.
"What materials are you looking for at the County Cultural Center?
I'm a teacher at the County Elementary School and often go to the County Cultural Center.
Perhaps I can help you," Tian Runye said with a smile.
"It's nothing much.
I'm just looking for the contact addresses of some periodicals to understand the situation.
It's a bit embarrassing to say, but I've written something and want to try submitting it for publication," Zhao Dongchuan said, awkwardly rubbing his nose (Yes, that's right, if he wrote it with a pen, how could it not be considered his own writing? =_=!).
"Oh, that's great!
You can even write articles yourself, impressive, impressive," Tian Runye said, a little surprised and slightly teasing.
Looking at this young man, who was not much older than Shaoping, Runye felt that he was probably just having a whim, having read a few books at home and now thinking he could become a writer.
But which young person didn't dream of being a writer?
Just like herself, she often wrote things, but unfortunately, her writing skills weren't good enough to produce anything substantial.
"I can actually help you with this.
I have a good friend named Du Lili who works at the County Cultural Center.
Her father is the director of the County Cultural Center.
I'll write you a letter of introduction, and you can go find her and ask.
It'll definitely be much better than going in blind," Tian Runye said, smiling as she took out a notebook and pen from her canvas shoulder bag, wrote a note, tore it off, and handed it to Zhao Dongchuan.
"Then I'm really benefiting from Sister Runye's help this time!" Zhao Dongchuan took the note with both hands, a smile on his face as he looked at Tian Runye.
Looking at Zhao Dongchuan's smile, Tian Runye felt there was a strange meaning in it, almost an innuendo, but she couldn't pinpoint what was wrong.
She just felt that this young man didn't seem like an easy person to deal with.
"Well then, Sister Runye, Shaoping, I'll be going now.
You two are busy, I won't delay your meal," Zhao Dongchuan said, putting away the note, looking meaningfully at Sun Shaoping, and then quickly rode off on his bicycle, leaving a dashing figure in his wake.
"How did he know I was going to take Sun Shaoping to eat?" Tian Runye wondered with some confusion.
This Zhao Dongchuan seemed to know something, and his attitude towards her was a bit strange.
Normally, she was a teacher, and Zhao Dongchuan wasn't much older, so why did it feel like he was being a bit casual when talking to her?
Uh, he was just a little too relaxed, not like a first meeting, but more like someone who knew her well.
Zhao Dongchuan, riding his bicycle, felt a bit flustered.
He had left too quickly and hadn't asked for the specific address of the County Cultural Center, making it awkward to go back and ask now.
It was too embarrassing.
Zhao Dongchuan felt speechless for himself.
He was supposed to be someone who would conquer all realms, how could he be so uncomposed?
He needed to reflect, he needed to reflect!
Finally, he had no choice but to ask a passerby for directions to the County Cultural Center, and only then did he find his way there.
Zhao Dongchuan arrived at the County Cultural Center and walked towards the front desk on the first floor, where a girl was writing something.
"Hello, classmate," Zhao Dongchuan said to the girl.
"Uh, who are you?
Did I go to school with you?
Why don't I remember seeing you?" The girl looked up, gazing at him with a somewhat naive expression.
Looking at the cute, naive girl, Zhao Dongchuan had initially thought of teasing her, but suddenly remembered that 'hooliganism' was a crime at that time, and immediately stopped himself.
"Hmm, no~~~ That is, I'm looking for Du Lili," Zhao Dongchuan dared not say any more.
"You're looking for Sister Lili?
Wait a moment, I'll call her for you," she said, then scurried off to the second floor.
A moment later, two women came down.
One was the naive girl, and the other was presumably Du Lili.
Du Lili was Tian Runye's classmate; they had been in the same class from junior high to high school and were as close as sisters.
Du Lili was also a literature enthusiast.
"Are you looking for me?" Du Lili asked, looking at Zhao Dongchuan with a hint of surprise.
"Hello, I'm Zhao Dongchuan from Shuangshui Village.
I have something I'd like to consult you about.
Sister Runye asked me to come to you," he said, taking out the note Runye had written earlier and handing it to Du Lili.
Du Lili took the note with some skepticism and read it, then understood the whole situation.
"I see.
I didn't expect you to be quite confident, actually wanting to submit to periodicals.
Don't worry, Runye and I are classmates and good sisters.
Since Runye entrusted me, I'll definitely help you with it," Du Lili said with a gentle smile.
"Your name is Zhao Dongchuan, right?
Runye mentioned you're an educated youth from Shuangshui Village and also enjoy literature.
We're kindred spirits!
I also like to write, but I haven't been able to produce anything good," Du Lili said, chuckling at herself.
It was clear that she was an outgoing and generous girl.
