16: Chapter 16 Be Good, Be Obedient
Afterwards, Wang Yang pulled Zhao Yaqin into a base layer shop.
The warm yellow lights in the shop illuminated the shelves, where wool sweaters and base layer shirts were hung neatly.
Wang Yang scanned the area and reached out to pick two fleece-lined wool base layer shirts.
One was light camel, the other off-white; both were gentle colors that complemented her skin tone.
"Try these two on." He handed the clothes to her.
Zhao Yaqin took them and felt the fabric; it was soft and fuzzy, surely comfortable against the skin.
Just as she was about to say something, Wang Yang turned around and grabbed two pairs of thermal long johns from the shelf.
"Take these too; they're close-fitting and warm, perfect for winter."
Zhao Yaqin blushed and muttered softly.
"You're even picking out long johns for me..."
Wang Yang laughed.
"If I don't pick them out, who will? Go try them on."
Zhao Yaqin held the clothes and went into the fitting room.
She came out a few minutes later.
Wearing the light camel base layer shirt, it hugged her body, outlining Zhao Yaqin's curves just right.
The fabric was soft and glutinous, making her look as gentle as if she were wrapped in a layer of light.
Wang Yang's eyes lit up.
"Looks good. Next one."
Zhao Yaqin changed into the off-white one, which was equally well-fitting, making her skin look fairer and enhancing her temperament.
She stood in front of the mirror and spun around, unable to suppress the smile on her lips.
"Both look good, wrap them both up."
Wang Yang said directly to the Shop Clerk.
Zhao Yaqin pulled him back and whispered.
"One is enough..."
"Two to alternate between."
Wang Yang squeezed her hand.
"Be good, be obedient."
Zhao Yaqin didn't say anything else, her heart warming until it felt scorching.
Next, they went into a pants store.
Wang Yang chose a pair of fleece-lined jeans for her.
And a wool skirt; both were basic styles, but they excelled in their cut and versatility.
Zhao Yaqin tried them on one by one, and each one fit perfectly.
Standing in front of the mirror, looking at herself inside, her eyes felt slightly hot.
Having been a widow for fifteen years, she had never bought herself so many new clothes.
Every Chinese New Year, she would wash those few old clothes over and over, just making do.
As long as her daughter had new clothes, she didn't care.
But now, someone was holding her in the palm of his hand, picking them out one by one.
Trying them on one by one, afraid that she might get cold.
Zhao Yaqin held seven or eight paper bags, her arms almost unable to carry them, but her heart felt sickeningly sweet.
Wang Yang reached out to take a few bags, wrapped one arm around her waist, and continued walking forward.
Along the way, he quietly activated the Eye of Recognition, scanning the girls passing by in the Shopping Mall.
Trendy young girls, elegantly dressed young women, moms holding their children...
Information flashed before his eyes one by one.
[Appearance 75, Figure 72, Low Fertility Compatibility]
[Appearance 83, Figure 80, Chaotic Private Life, Unqualified]
[Appearance 68, Figure 70, No Fertility Value]
The system prompt never sounded again.
Wang Yang felt a slight regret, but didn't pay too much attention to it.
Anyway, he already had Su Xincheng's WeChat, so he would be able to win her over sooner or later.
Things like this couldn't be rushed; he had to take it slow.
...
When they reached the men's clothing section, Wang Yang stopped.
He looked down at the old jacket he had been wearing for a long time.
He smiled and said to Zhao Yaqin.
"I should change my clothes too. I can't dress too shabbily; it wouldn't match my Sister Yaqin."
Zhao Yaqin shot him a playful glare, her cheeks flushing.
"You only know how to talk nonsense..."
Wang Yang laughed and pulled her into a men's clothing store.
The shop was brightly lit, with various styles of winter clothing hanging on the shelves.
Wang Yang scanned the area, reached out, and took down a black turtleneck wool sweater; the fabric was fine and felt soft and glutinous.
He also took a pair of dark gray fleece-lined casual pants with a crisp cut.
"I'll try these two on."
He walked into the fitting room and changed his clothes.
The black turtleneck sweater clung to his body, highlighting his long neck and upright shoulder lines.
The dark gray casual pants outlined his straight, long legs, making him look clean and sharp.
Wang Yang looked in the mirror and was quite satisfied.
He picked up a mid-length black down jacket, put it on, and zipped it up.
He pushed open the fitting room door and walked out.
Zhao Yaqin was sitting on the sofa waiting, and looked up when she heard the movement.
Then she froze.
Her eyes widened instantly, her mouth slightly agape, and the paper bag in her hand almost dropped to the floor.
Wang Yang stood at the fitting room entrance, the black down jacket open, revealing the turtleneck wool sweater underneath.
The clothes fit as if they were tailor-made, bringing out his entire aura.
His already handsome features were made even more three-dimensional and distinct by this all-black outfit.
His brows and eyes were handsome, his nose bridge high and straight, and a faint smile played on his lips.
Shedding the awkwardness of his old clothes, he looked upright and handsome, his aura completely different.
Zhao Yaqin stared at him, her heart pounding.
"My god..."
She stood up, walked over to Wang Yang, looked him up and down, her eyes shining amazingly.
"Xiao Yang, you look too good!"
Wang Yang was a bit embarrassed by her praise and rubbed his nose.
"It's alright, right?"
"What do you mean 'alright'!"
Zhao Yaqin grabbed his arm, her tone full of amazement.
"Once you put these clothes on, you're even more handsome than the stars on TV! Look at this aura, this figure; who wouldn't praise how sharp you look when you walk out!"
As she spoke, her face flushed red.
This man was hers.
Wang Yang looked at her flushed cheeks, feeling warm inside.
"Then I'll take this set."
He directly asked the Shop Clerk to pack it up and paid by card. The whole outfit cost over four thousand, and he didn't even blink.
Before, he had no money and couldn't bear to buy things for himself.
Now that he had the system, he not only wanted to spoil Zhao Yaqin but also wanted to live a decent life himself.
The two of them carried big and small bags and continued walking forward.
The days in the twelfth lunar month were short, and in the blink of an eye, it was almost noon.
The aroma of food from the Shopping Mall wafted over.
The scent of braised pork, the charred aroma of grilled fish, mixed together, whetting one's appetite.
Zhao Yaqin's stomach gave a soft growl.
She quickly covered it, and her face flushed again.
Wang Yang heard it and laughed.
"Hungry, aren't you?"
He took the bags from Zhao Yaqin's hands and wrapped one arm around her waist.
"I'll take you to eat something delicious."
"I'll listen to whatever you say."
Zhao Yaqin leaned docilely against him, her heart full of reliance.
The two took the elevator down to the underground parking garage.
The matte black bmw x5m was parked quietly in the parking space, emitting a cold luster under the dim lights.
Wang Yang put the things in the trunk, helped Zhao Yaqin into the passenger seat, and leaned over to fasten her seatbelt.
After fastening it, he didn't rush to pull back, but instead looked up at her.
Their eyes met.
Wang Yang lowered his head and gently planted a kiss on her lips.
Zhao Yaqin's heart skipped a beat.
Wang Yang pulled back and closed the door with a smile.
He sat in the driver's seat and started the engine. The engine's low roar sounded, and the car drove steadily out of the garage.
...
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a restaurant.
This restaurant was one Wang Yang had seen on Douyin before; it had good reviews, and he had always wanted to try it.
With blue tiles and white walls, wooden doors and windows, and red lanterns hanging at the entrance, it exuded a delicacy amidst the bustle of everyday life.
The two walked in, and a Shop Clerk immediately came up to greet them, leading them into a small private room by the window.
The private room wasn't large, but the heater made it warm, and a landscape painting hung on the wall.
Outside the window, one could see the New Year decorations on the street, strings of red lanterns hanging, and occasionally pedestrians passing by carrying New Year goods.
Wang Yang handed the menu to Zhao Yaqin.
"Sister Yaqin, take a look at what you'd like to eat, order whatever you want."
Zhao Yaqin pushed the menu back and shook her head with a smile.
"I'm not picky; I'll eat whatever you order. I like whatever you like to eat."
Wang Yang didn't decline; he opened the menu and quickly ordered four dishes and one soup.
Braised pork, steamed sea bass, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, yam and wood ear mushrooms, and a corn and pork rib soup.
They were all soft, tender, and light flavors, suitable for Zhao Yaqin, and were all heartwarming home-cooked dishes.
While waiting for the food, Wang Yang held Zhao Yaqin's hand, his fingertips gently rubbing the back of her hand.
Her hand was soft and warm, and it felt especially comfortable to hold.
