207: Shi Li's unstoppable tactics

Chapter 207: Shi Li's Unsolvable Tactic

After Shi Li completed the handover with Director Hou, he came to Abyss No. 68 alone.

Abyss No. 68, Current Stage Mission:

Kill 4-Evolution Count: 8317 / 10000

Kill 5-Evolution Count: 783 / 1000

Kill 6-Evolution Count: 58 / 100

Kill 8-Evolution Count: 5 / 10

Kill 10-Evolution Count: 0 / 1

Looking at the leaderboard for the 9th floor, it was still empty.

“It seems our mission progress in Abyss No. 68 isn't slow after all.”

Shi Li felt that they genuinely had a chance to snatch the third spot nationwide.

However, he didn't know that Hallmaster Xu had called for reinforcements, so he wasn't in a hurry for now.

He decided to first utilize the Characteristic of the Abyss to complete missions for his two unique cards.

After all, this opportunity might not come again.

If Abyss No. 68 were cleared, it might not be as convenient later on.

So, Shi Li directly entered the 9th floor and began the monster-grinding missions.

With his destined hand card, the mission efficiency of the Withering Dragon greatly improved.

Previously, it had to touch every monster; now, it just used Withering Initial at the start of the game, and that was it.

Ten monsters per game, and after clearing them, he would immediately reset in place.

At Shi Li's current speed, he could clear one game in about 10 minutes.

One game meant 10 kills.

Sixty kills in an hour, over 1400 in 24 hours.

With some breaks interspersed, he continued this for 10 days.

Towards the end, when the Withering Dragon's mission was almost complete, he stopped using the Withering Dragon and focused solely on grinding for the Jumping Guard.

Both missions were now nearing completion.

The Indomitable Guard: Win PVE card games with Jumping Guard without it being removed, 900 / 1000

Star Ascension Mission: Withering Dragon participates in killing non-duplicate cards, 49687 / 50000

“Next, I can officially tackle the 9th floor.”

Since he had been directly refreshing within the stages, Shi Li hadn't left for a long time.

He decided to go to the inn to rest first, then continue.

However, before leaving, he glanced at the collective missions and the leaderboard, only to find that the situation had changed.

Kill 8-Evolution Count: 10 / 10

Kill 10-Evolution Count: 0 / 1

The 8th floor's kill mission was actually completed.

And on the 9th floor's leaderboard, a name had already appeared.

1. Hang Mei Li, Kill Rank: platinum 15

“A master has arrived?”

Shi Li's sense of crisis immediately surged.

The 9th floor was not part of the collective missions, so there would be no difference in rewards for the first clear and subsequent clears.

He could disregard this.

But the 10th floor was different.

The 10th floor's mission only had one slot for the first clear.

More importantly, the official 10 million reward subsidy was also only available to the first person to complete it.

“No time to rest.”

Shi Li felt the urgency and immediately turned back, re-entering the space of the 9th stage.

On the other side, Hang Mei Li and her group were having a drink at the Abyss Tavern.

They had no intention of hiding their identities, and the codenames above their heads were clearly visible.

This caused the card players at nearby tables to occasionally cast glances their way.

“Is she Hang Mei Li?”

“That master who cleared the 9th floor?”

“She doesn't look that old.”

Anyone paying a little attention would know that something big had happened recently in Abyss No. 68.

It was said that Li Card Hall had brought a group of young geniuses from the Demon Capital to help clear the Abyss here.

Initially, many people didn't pay much attention to this matter.

After all, there were many masters in this Abyss, and hitting a wall was the norm.

However, this genius quintet managed to clear the 8th floor in just a few days.

This was definitely a sensational event for the entire Abyss No. 68.

One must know that the highest record in Abyss No. 68 until now was only the 8th floor.

No, not anymore.

Now the highest record was the 9th floor.

“It seems our local masters, in the end, still can't beat the geniuses from the Demon Capital.”

“Wang Defa has been out of sight for a long time.”

“I heard people from Show Card Hall say that he often comes to the Abyss, but he uses a disguise card, so we haven't noticed.”

“Regardless of whether he came or not, his progress has been stagnant for a long time.”

“Exactly, now the highest progress is by someone from the Demon Capital.”

Having stayed in Abyss No. 68 for a long time, everyone also developed a sense of belonging.

Emotionally speaking, they were unwilling to have their achievements snatched by “outsiders.”

However, broadly speaking, everyone was working to clear the Abyss, so there was actually no distinction between insiders and outsiders.

“Congratulations, Big Sister, for successfully taking down the 9th floor.”

At this moment, one of the geniuses raised his glass high.

“It took a full 7 days; how is that smooth?”

Hang Mei Li clinked glasses with him, humbly saying.

In reality, she was in a very good mood.

When she was in Abyss No. 56, she played the role of a pursuer.

She didn't have the leisure of being in the lead like now.

Moreover, it took her a full two months from first entering the Abyss to successfully clearing the 9th floor.

Now, clearing the 9th floor in 10 days was indeed considered smooth.

All of this, in addition to the enhancements brought by card deck optimization, also owed a large part to experience.

Pioneering and re-clearing were completely different in terms of mood.

Sometimes, playing dungeons was just that strange; with the same operations and the same difficulty, pioneering felt harder.

“I don't think their local Wang Defa is that good either.”

“I heard he's been stuck on the 8th floor for a long time and still hasn't cleared the 9th floor.”

“It seems he's already run out of luck on the 8th floor.”

Everyone's topic shifted to Shi Li.

To clear the high levels of the Abyss, luck and strength were both indispensable.

But luck was ultimately an ethereal element; strength was what truly belonged to oneself.

If your strength was insufficient, you would need greater luck to clear the stage.

Of course, sometimes, if luck was exceptionally good, it wasn't impossible to clear the stage smoothly.

Just like now.

“Big news! Big news!”

The group had only been drinking for less than an hour when shouts came from the street outside.

“Wang Defa has reappeared! He broke through the 9th floor!”

These words spread into the tavern, immediately sparking discussions.

“Haha, Wang Defa finally showed up!”

“Good heavens! The 9th floor!”

“That means he can challenge the 10th floor now!”

“Let's go, quickly check the leaderboard to see if it's true.”

Seeing many card players pay their bills and leave, the few geniuses from the Demon Capital couldn't sit still either.

“Let's go.”

Hang Mei Li was the first to stand up.

“Big Sister—”

Someone still wanted to say something, but her gaze silenced him.

“Now is not the time to rest, nor to celebrate.”

Leaving these words, Hang Mei Li walked out.

The opponent had also cleared the 9th floor, which meant he was on the same starting line as her.

She didn't want to watch the duck she had in hand fly away.

Nor did she want to follow in the footsteps of Abyss No. 56 again.

This time, she must be the first to clear the 10th floor.

At this very moment, Shi Li had already entered the 10th floor's stage.

“My luck is really good—”

He was still marveling at this moment.

This 9th floor was, of course, harder than the 8th floor, not something one could easily clear.

But his luck was truly good; the Abyssal Kind on the 9th floor evolved into a card that his deck happened to counter perfectly.

So, without much time, he took down that 9-evolution guy.

However, there was no time to celebrate; what lay before him now was the arduous task of the 10th floor.

“Currently, there's one most reliable strategy before me.”

Standing in the space of the 10th floor, Shi Li propped his chin.

This was a new tactic he had just recently thought of.

He originally planned to use it on the 9th floor, but his luck was too good, and he cleared it before he even had a chance to use it.

So he used the auto-battle mode to quickly clear the 1st and 2nd evolution Abyssal Kind.

For his current all-three-star Unique Character Cards, clearing this 2-evolution PVE game was as easy as pie.

After all, his deck was all 3-trait + 1 Characteristic, equivalent to an ordinary all-four-star deck.

“No.”

When he saw the monster card for the 3rd evolution, he unhesitatingly clicked to surrender, then refreshed and restarted.

Unlike before, when he could only rush in, Shi Li now had a definite tactic.

There were two main reasons.

Firstly, he had already seen many Abyssal Kind.

These monsters couldn't be said to be completely non-repetitive.

Especially monsters with 5 or more evolutions, they somewhat followed certain patterns.

That is, they often had 1 to 3 core traits, and then other traits would develop in a direction that suited the core mechanism.

So, by just looking at about 1 to 3 evolutions, mostly after seeing about 2 evolutions, one could roughly know which direction this batch of Abyssal Kind would evolve.

Secondly, when he cleared the 8th floor, Shi Li was only Platinum 11.

At that time, he didn't have many main deck cards, just enough to cover 9+1.

Fewer cards meant fewer specific scenarios that could be solved.

Now that he had more cards, his tactics naturally became richer.

Currently, on the 10th floor, he had a very clear objective.

He only sought to clear one type of enemy.

Don't think that repeatedly refreshing looked like a waste of time.

But Shi Li knew a truth deeply: sharpening the axe doesn't delay chopping wood, and working after finishing junior high.

As long as he encountered that specific type of Abyssal Kind, he would be 100% successful in clearing it.

So, he then returned to the rhythm of relentless grinding.

During this period, Shi Li never left the space of the 10th stage.

Because he knew that going out was useless.

He was now in a race against time, and checking the leaderboard would only waste time and affect his mindset.

Even if Hang Mei Li was the first to clear the 10th floor, would he stop trying?

Of course not, so it was better to block out some external interference.

“Here it comes!”

After refreshing repeatedly for 10 days, Shi Li finally encountered his desired opponent.

The BOSS on the opposite side was a mermaid with a large wavy fish tail, holding a harp.

The harp was very large.

Abyss Sleeper

Listen to the Wind, Attack 60, 200 / 200, 0 / 1000

Sleep - Passive: Before the Abyss Sleeper receives its first attack, it will remain in Sleep for this round.

Abyssal Skin - Passive: After the Abyss Sleeper awakens, it gains Overlord Body and Magic Immunity effects.

Quality Sleep - Passive: Before the Abyss Sleeper awakens, it recovers an additional 30 Energy each round.

Wake-Up Rage - Passive: After the Abyss Sleeper awakens, it gains permanent Attack power equal to its current Energy.

A Good Sleep - Passive: After the Abyss Sleeper awakens, it gains permanent Health equal to 10 times its current Energy.

Sweet Dream Murmur - Passive: When the Abyss Sleeper is in Sleep, all allied cards on the field gain 30 Healing each round.

Nightmare Creation - Passive: The Abyss Sleeper's attacks inflict Sleep.

Deep Sleep - Passive: The Abyss Sleeper's Energy cap is 10, and Charge efficiency is halved.

Killing Sound - 50 Energy: The Abyss Sleeper unleashes a shockwave equal to its Attack power on an enemy.

Dream Sound - 100 Energy: The Abyss Sleeper selects 1 removed target, granting it 100 Revival.

(Sleep: The Abyss Sleeper cannot act. Damage taken is halved during this period. When attacked, it awakens and gains the Awakening effect.)

This Sleep is different from ordinary Sleep; it not only provides Damage Reduction but also doesn't incur Weakness, which is a negative effect, upon being woken up. It is a BOSS-exclusive effect.

The later the BOSS is woken up, the stronger its stats will be.

The theoretical maximum value reaches 60+1000 Attack and 200+10000 Health, which is simply abnormal.

Under the ebb and flow of traits, Charge efficiency allows it to recover 40 points each round.

This means it takes 25 rounds to fully recover.

Equivalent to gaining 40 Attack + 400 Health per round.

Then, when it awakens, it also carries a bunch of Energy, making its effects, whether unleashing AOE or reviving teammates, extremely terrifying.

According to conventional tactics, this guy is simply impossible to defeat head-on.

The only way is to instantly kill it at full health in the round it is woken up.

However, due to the Damage Reduction effect of Sleep, it must deal a full 400 points of damage to instantly kill this guy.

A conventional 9+1 deck usually has a total base attack of only 330 points.

What's more, you can't ignore the 9 minion cards under the BOSS.

However, this Abyss card game is indeed unique.

The other small monsters in this game mostly have mechanisms similar to the BOSS.

They are either in full-game Sleep, full-game Freeze, or full-game Petrification.

All are mechanisms that require an attack to wake them up, or even won't wake up no matter how many times they are attacked.

The initial output pressure in this card game is not high, but once they are woken up and not successfully instantly killed, they will gain high amounts of various buffs.

These buffs greatly increase the difficulty of eliminating them.

This further delays the time it takes to wake up the BOSS, giving it more rounds to Charge.

Normally, this BOSS would be impossible to defeat.

But Shi Li remembered an essay: The Foolish Old Man Who Removed the Mountains.

“His descendants would go on forever, but the mountains would not grow.”

Firstly, the card he played was The Diner.

The opponent's amplification has a cap.

But The Diner's amplification has no cap.

Under low damage pressure, he could completely develop slowly.

While dealing damage with The Diner, he would also heal The Diner.

Behind the second-row The Diner was the Lotus Succubus, which could provide perpetual Healing, and the ace card behind that was the cloud river, which could Revival cards.

The fault tolerance was directly maxed out.

The task of the remaining cards, such as Hong Cai Ji, was to trade lives, eliminating all the active opponents first.

Then, he would be left with his 3 cards to slowly develop against a bunch of inactive enemies.

If he could get tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of health, wouldn't he easily kill the BOSS?
