59: Attention from four prestigious universities

The next day, after the card-making practical exam, Shi Li’s ranking was one spot higher than he had imagined.

Currently, his total score, when converted, was 49.4 points, placing him 3rd.

However, many people did not pay much attention to the scores from the first two items.

Especially those in the Platinum tier, all of them were eager to perform well.

On the night the card-making practical ended, a hovercraft slowly landed at the training base.

Qingchuan University’s inspection team was the first to arrive.

For the Four Famous Universities, the exams of the first two days did not have much observational value; they only needed to look at the results.

The main focus would Still be on the performance during the five-day outdoor trial training.

After all, this project could truly prove a Card Master’s real ability.

Two women and one man stepped out of the hovercraft; Hu Lan, the Vice President of Po Shi Academy, was among them.

Jiangnan Province has never been a major source of students over the years, so the inspection team’s scale was not very large.

One Vice President-level figure, accompanied by two Recruitment Officers, was sufficient.

Standing on the platform, Hu Lan took a deep breath of the air here, although the smell was no different.

“Hahahaha! Isn’t this Dean Hu? Why are you here!”

Just then, another hovercraft landed.

A tall man in a trench coat quickly stepped out from inside.

“Zhou Dazhuang, why is it you?”

Hu Lan showed a look of disdain.

Card-type universities are generally divided into seven departments, and this man was precisely the Vice President of Yuanda University’s Momentum Academy.

Because their positions and ranks were the same, the two had clashed quite a bit.

“Of course, I’m here to snatch people from you.”

President Zhou let out a hearty laugh.

“Hmph.”

Hu Lan couldn't be bothered with this person and turned to leave.

Not long after, the inspection teams from Huaguang University and Beijing University also arrived successively.

Everyone’s actions were consistent: after settling down, they closed their doors and began discussions.

“I believe the key observation targets this time are mainly the following students.”

Inside the room, Qingchuan University’s male Recruitment Officer placed more than a dozen personal profiles on the table.

These included all the Platinum and Gold 5 Card Masters participating.

“There’s no need to focus on Ouyang Huan; I’ve already received news that he has been pre-admitted by Liming University.”

The female Recruitment Officer picked out one of the profiles.

“Better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix. Why don't we try to win him over?”

“With Ouyang Huan’s level, he wouldn’t be the tail of a phoenix even if he went to Liming University.

As long as he’s not out of his mind, he wouldn’t possibly pass up Liming University.”

As the two argued, Hu Lan’s attention was drawn to the profiles.

Durian City only had two profiles in total: one named Fang Jinghai and one named Liang Dan.

“Add one more key observation target.”

As soon as she spoke, the two immediately fell silent.

“Dean Hu, who should we add?”

“Shi Li.”

“This…”

Hearing this, the male Recruitment Officer hesitated slightly.

As part of their job, they had thoroughly reviewed all the trial participants’ information before setting off.

He had originally thought Hu Lan wanted to focus on Gong Ping, who possessed the relatively rare Star Ascension and Star-Down hand cards, but he hadn’t expected it to be Shi Li.

Among the trial participants this time, there were a total of 6 students who possessed a Characteristic Unique Character Card.

The Red Blade Maiden’s Overlord Body was considered to be at the upper end, as some individuals’ Characteristics were purely negative effects.

“Although Characteristic Unique Character Cards have strong growth potential due to their exclusive attributes, Shi Li hasn’t even achieved card resonance.

Why does the Dean want to focus on him?”

The female Recruitment Officer raised a question.

Not achieving card resonance implies no long-term potential; this is a consensus within the industry.

“If the Character Card has potential, but the Card Master himself does not, aren’t these two contradictory?”

Hu Lan glanced at her.

“This…”

The other party was speechless.

“However, according to school regulations, Card Masters who have not achieved card resonance will not be admitted.”

The male Recruitment Officer was quite diligent.

“Provisionally list him as a key observation target.”

Hu Lan did not explain further, merely stating it lightly.

Speaking of school regulations, as a Vice President, she naturally possessed some special privileges.

One of these was exceptional admission.

However, whether Shi Li was worth going to that extent would depend on his performance.

“Yes.” x2

Since the Dean had decided, even if the two had doubts, they no longer argued… A new day quickly arrived, and over a hundred trial participants gathered on the tarmac.

One hour later, they would begin a 5-day outdoor survival trial.

“This trial will be a hunting points competition.”

Instructor Liu stood on the platform and began explaining the rules: “All of you will be ranked based on the number of demons you hunt.

Hunting a Level 1 Two-Star Demon will earn 1 point.

By analogy, a Level 5 Two-Star Demon earns 5 points.

As for Three-Star Demons, a Level 1 earns 11 points, a Level 2 earns 12 points, and so on.

One-Star and unstarred demons do not count for points.

The 1st place in the final ranking will receive 100 points, 2nd place 99 points, and so on.

Everyone ranked outside the top 100 will be counted as 0 points.

Now, everyone remain Still; the drone binding and following will begin.”

As her words fell, over a hundred palm-sized, propeller-less hover drones flew out in a dense swarm.

Shi Li saw one of them fly above his head and begin scanning his entire body.

Each trial participant was equipped with a drone to record their outdoor activities throughout.

This served both as an observation channel for the assessment team and as an early warning and protection in necessary situations.

Moreover, these drones also had a load-bearing function, capable of helping trial participants carry their luggage.

“Additionally, I need to remind you that the demons around the base are very wild.

If you encounter a situation that you truly cannot resolve, you can request assistance through the drone’s communication function.

Of course, doing so will also disqualify you from this trial, counting as elimination.”

After explaining these points, everyone was arranged to board a series of hovercraft.

They would then be divided by city and dropped off in batches at different locations around the base.

The top 16 from Durian City sat in the cabin, with expressions of both excitement and nervousness.

After all, the first two rounds of indoor assessment were far less stimulating than outdoor survival.

Some among them were even facing live demons for the first time.

“Have you heard?”

Someone suddenly said, “It’s rumored that the first-place winner in each group this time will have a chance to receive a letter of intent.”

Many people had heard whispers, indicating that this news was likely true.

However, with Fang Jinghai present in their group, it didn't really matter to them.

“Fang Jinghai, I won’t lose to you again this time.”

Liang Dan, on the other hand, was quite spirited.

Having failed in the mock comprehensive exam, she urgently needed to win back a round in this project to regain her confidence.

“Is that so?”

Fang Jinghai smiled upon hearing this, his gaze subtly sweeping over everyone in the cabin.

He wouldn't say much else, but at least within this city group, he would definitely be first place…
