182: Someone was killed

Seeing Fan Jian’s sudden 180-degree change in attitude, everyone looked suspicious, not understanding what this four-eyed weakling was up to.

They didn’t believe that the Bai Group would suddenly have a change of heart and decide not to forcibly demolish.

After Fan Jian finished speaking, he immediately walked to the foreman and whispered, “Is the video ready?”

“Hehe, it’s ready. But, Lawyer Fan, what exactly is this video for?” The foreman in charge of the demolition asked, confused.

Fan Jian said with a gloomy face, “You’re in charge of demolition, that’s enough. Is this something you should be concerned about?”

Fearing to anger Fan Jian, the foreman repeatedly smiled apologetically, “Lawyer Fan, you are right.”

“Alright, there’s nothing for you to do. Have your people go back for now. I’ll notify you when it’s time to demolish again.”

Fan Jian waved his hand, signaling that everyone could leave.

Initially, the crowd still suspected that Fan Jian’s words were just a show to appease them, but seeing the demolition team’s construction vehicles gradually leaving, they finally relaxed.

However, even so, the crowd didn’t immediately disperse. After all, they had heard of similar feints online, where a sudden sneak attack and forced demolition would happen in the middle of the night.

Sure enough, just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief and was about to disperse, a group of tattooed men in suits, carrying steel rods, suddenly appeared.

“Who’s in charge here?”

The leader was a tall, burly fat man with a purple-dyed hair, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and a dragon tattooed across his bare upper body. He swaggered in front of the crowd.

These people were just ordinary citizens, and seeing the fierce faces of the newcomers, all carrying weapons, they looked at each other, none daring to speak up.

Seeing that no one dared to answer, the fat man knew this group was intimidated and became even more arrogant, threatening, “I’m telling you now, get lost, or don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Unexpectedly, just as the big fat man finished speaking, the middle-aged woman from before was the first to step out again, hands on her hips, saying, “I’m not afraid of you bastards! You bullies who pick on the weak, if you have the guts, try hitting me!”

“Damn it, do you really think I’m a pushover?”

The fat man’s face turned cold, and he directly slapped the middle-aged woman.

This fat man, Liu Qiang, was over 1.8 meters tall and had been involved in gangs for years. He was strong, and with one slap, the woman saw stars and fainted on the spot.

“Mom!”

Seeing the woman fall, a beautiful woman suddenly rushed out of the crowd and threw herself onto the fallen middle-aged woman.

This woman was none other than Zhu Xinyao. Zhang Wei, hiding in the crowd, was also stunned to see Zhu Xinyao, not expecting her to be there.

“You… you bastards, how can you lay hands on an old woman?”

Zhu Xinyao pointed at Liu Qiang, filled with grief and indignation.

“Exactly! You thugs, beating people in the street, is there no law anymore?”

The crowd instantly became indignant.

“Hehe, I’m hitting you all.”

Liu Qiang sneered, waved to his subordinates behind him, and said, “Beat them, but be careful not to kill anyone.”

Hearing this, the subordinates grabbed their weapons and charged into the crowd.

These ordinary citizens were only there to block the road, unarmed, and were no match for these street thugs who had long engaged in gang fights. In a flash, many were beaten bloody, and the crowd instantly scattered and fled.

Meanwhile, Zhang Wei quietly protected Zhu Xinyao from behind, trying to ensure she wouldn’t get hurt.

Liu Qiang saw the beautiful Zhu Xinyao, who was half-kneeling on the ground crying, and his lust was stirred. He walked towards Zhu Xinyao with a sinister grin.

“What do you want?”

Seeing Liu Qiang approach, Zhu Xinyao was so scared her legs went weak, and she repeatedly backed away.

“Hehe, what do I want? Little beauty, how about you spend the night with me?” Liu Qiang asked with a lecherous smile.

“You… don’t come any closer!”

“Old man, I’ll fight you bastards!”

However, just then, the old man who had been lying in the middle of the road suddenly, at some unknown moment, rushed out of the crowd and charged at Liu Qiang with a face full of grief and indignation.

Liu Qiang’s attention was entirely on Zhu Xinyao on the ground, and he didn’t even look up to see who was charging. He instinctively kicked out, and the old man’s chest just happened to hit Liu Qiang’s foot squarely.

“Ah—!”

The old man screamed, his eyes rolled back, and he fell to the ground, foaming at the mouth. After a few convulsions, he completely stopped breathing.

“They killed him! They killed someone in the street!”

Someone in the crowd immediately shrieked. Liu Qiang was startled and finally reacted. He looked up and realized that the person he had instinctively kicked was an old man in his seventies or eighties.

Liu Qiang’s subordinates also stopped in fear, all of them at a loss.

If it were a gang fight on a normal day, someone dying wouldn’t be a big deal. After all, it was all underground business, and as long as it wasn’t discovered, there would be no trouble.

But this kind of incident, where someone was beaten to death in the street due to a demolition dispute, if it escalated, it would surely alarm the higher-ups, and then no one would be able to escape.

Liu Qiang’s face flickered between dark and light. How could he dare to stay? He immediately waved his hand and said, “What the hell are you still standing around for? Get out of here!”

With that, Liu Qiang and the others turned and tried to slip away.

However, Liu Qiang and the others hadn’t run far when they ran into another group of people approaching. These people weren’t carrying weapons and were dressed in ordinary clothes, but they all looked strong and exuded a murderous aura. It was clear at a glance that they were skilled fighters.

The White Sand Gang members were dressed this way because Qin Shou had specifically instructed them to disguise themselves as ordinary citizens. This way, even if a bloody fight broke out, it wouldn’t be traced back to the White Sand Gang.

Zhang Wei looked up and saw Qin Shou, hidden among the crowd, not drawing any attention to himself.

“Don’t let them run! They killed someone!”

Zhang Wei knew these were Qin Shou’s men and immediately pointed at Liu Qiang and the others, shouting loudly.

Qin Shou, being sharp-eared and keen-eyed, naturally spotted Zhang Wei immediately. He understood and whispered to Tie Wei beside him, “Crippled these people and arrest them all.”

“Understood.”

Tie Wei nodded and immediately led his men to charge forward.

The group Qin Shou brought were all elites of the White Sand Gang. Against this group of small-time thugs, even unarmed, they were not at a disadvantage. In just a short while, they had beaten Zhao Zheng’s men to a pulp, all of them lying sprawled on the ground.

Seeing Liu Qiang and the others easily dealt with by the people Qin Shou brought, Zhang Wei finally relaxed and immediately ran towards Qin Shou.

“What’s the situation now?”

Qin Shou had arrived a bit late and wasn’t clear about the situation on site, so he asked with a frown.

“Brother Qin, something happened. The Bai Group’s people called in a group of thugs, and they accidentally killed someone.”
