41: Be my personal bodyguard

"You've gone around in such a big circle, are you trying to tell me that the Man in Black couldn't be killed because he knew Qigong?"

Qin Shou didn't want the topic to continue revolving around himself. What if the system's secret was exposed? So, Qin Shou immediately brought the conversation back on track.

Butler Fu shook his head, denying Qin Shou's guess.

"Qigong is a unique heritage of our Dragon Nation. This Blood God Cult originated from Goguryeo, so it naturally cannot possess the authentic method of Qigong cultivation. However, these cults, being called cults, naturally have their own system."

"Their own system? What system?" Qin Shou pressed.

"I'm not entirely clear on the specifics. Their system is quite complex. I only know that although this Blood God Cult originated from Goguryeo, it grew and developed in Southeast Asia and was deeply influenced by some mysterious Southeast Asian cultures.

And the Southeast Asian region happens to be one of the birthplaces of mysterious arts like sorcery and Gu techniques.

I suspect that the Man in Black couldn't be killed because he had a strange microorganism in his body, which is what they call a Gu worm."

"Holy moly! Gu worms? Such things really exist."

When Qin Shou heard the words "Gu worm," he couldn't help but widen his eyes. He had always thought that Gu worms only existed in novels, never expecting them to actually exist in reality.

"Hehe, Qigong exists, so isn't it normal for Gu arts to exist? Kid, there's a lot in this world that you don't know!"

Butler Fu, with the air of an experienced man, continued to explain:

"After these Gu worms enter the human body, they exist as parasites within it. They secrete a special substance that can paralyze a person's nervous system, making them lose the sensation of pain. At the same time, it greatly stimulates the body's potential, activating various bodily functions, allowing the host to erupt with strength, speed, and recovery abilities far beyond ordinary people in a short period."

"Then aren't they invincible? What should I do if I encounter them again?" Qin Shou asked, looking frustrated.

Butler Fu shook his head and explained:

"Things are, of course, not that simple. Everything has two sides; there are benefits and drawbacks. The more one takes such an unconventional path, achieving great improvements in a short time, the greater the risks and costs.

Although these Gu worms can grant the human body immense power, the backlash on the body is also extremely severe. They constantly devour the host's vital essence and energy, causing great damage to the host's body.

To ensure their own safety and avoid being consumed by the Gu worms, they must regularly drink the fresh blood of living people to nourish the Gu worms within them. Otherwise, they will die from the Gu worms' backlash, suffering a fate worse than death.

Furthermore, they are not truly invincible. The true qi within your body is the natural enemy of Gu worms. True qi can penetrate the surface skin and directly attack the Gu worms parasitic in their bodies, completely killing them."

"You mean, as long as I use true qi in my fists and feet when fighting them, I can kill them?"

Qin Shou's eyes lit up. He had finally found a way to protect himself.

"Hehe, kid, you're indeed clever, grasping it immediately." Butler Fu nodded with satisfaction.

"However, things are not as simple as you think."

Butler Fu changed the subject and added, "These Gu worms usually parasitize the most vital organs of the human body, such as the heart or brain. Only by attacking their vital organs like the heart or brain can you cause fatal damage to them. These people aren't fools; how could they let you casually attack their vital points?"

After hearing Butler Fu's explanation, Qin Shou laughed, "Hehe, it's still much better than being helpless and just giving up. At least now I know how to deal with them. But you specifically came to find me today and told me so much about the Blood God Cult. You must have other motives, right?"

Qin Shou looked directly at Ren Jing and Butler Fu with a hint of cunning in his eyes.

"Talking to smart people is easy; no need to beat around the bush."

Seeing Qin Shou's perceptiveness, Butler Fu no longer concealed anything and said directly, "Kid, I came to find you this time because I hope you can serve as Mayor Ren's personal Bodyguard for the next three days, responsible for protecting her safety."

"A Bodyguard? With a master like you by her side, isn't that enough? What do you need me to do?"

Upon hearing Butler Fu's request, Qin Shou's face showed a puzzled expression.

Ren Jing, who was beside him, explained:

"It's like this: I received news that an important leader of the Blood God Cult has secretly arrived in the City. Butler Fu needs to leave for three days to invite someone."

"Why me of all people? With your status and position as Mayor, finding a master shouldn't be difficult, should it?"

Qin Shou still felt that the explanation wasn't quite right.

Butler Fu heard Qin Shou's question, stroked his beard, and said:

"This is Mayor Ren's wish. She specifically requested you to be her Bodyguard for these three days. Originally, I, this old man, was a bit hesitant, but today, seeing that you actually know Qigong, and in my opinion, you are at least at the Yellow Rank Initial Stage.

Hehe, a martial arts master with superb marksmanship and at least Yellow Rank Initial Stage strength is not easy to find."

"Yellow Rank Initial Stage?"

When Qin Shou heard the words "Yellow Rank," his heart stirred. He suddenly remembered the level divisions of his system skills, which were also divided into Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow. Could it be that the strength levels of Qigong masters were also divided according to Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow?

Thinking of this, a bold guess arose in Qin Shou's mind: that his mysterious system might be related to some ancient heritage? However, why the system chose him, Qin Shou still couldn't figure out, and he couldn't possibly reach that level yet.

While Qin Shou was still lost in thought, Butler Fu continued:

"That's right, martial arts masters are divided into four ranks: Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow. I, this old man, am already at the Late Yellow Rank. However, my marksmanship is not as good as yours. If you have a gun in hand, combined with your skills, I believe protecting Mayor Ren shouldn't be a problem.

Kid, tell me directly, are you willing or not?"

Butler Fu stared at Qin Shou with piercing eyes.

"Yes! Of course, I can!"

Seeing Butler Fu being so direct and not beating around the bush, Qin Shou smiled and nodded, then changed the subject, a cunning smile appearing on his face.

"However, Mayor Ren is being targeted by such a dangerous organization, so the risk of this mission is quite high. I'm risking my life to protect you, so you should at least give me some benefits, right? Otherwise, wouldn't I be working for nothing? Hehe!"

Qin Shou rubbed his hands, looking expectantly at Ren Jing and Butler Fu, in a stance of "not letting go of the eagle until the rabbit is caught."

"One hundred thousand per day, three days, three hundred thousand."

Ren Jing got straight to the point.

"Okay, it's a deal."

When Qin Shou heard the price Ren Jing offered, he readily agreed without a second thought, a satisfied smile on his face.

To earn three hundred thousand in three days, where else could he find such a good deal? Moreover, this mission involved being the personal Bodyguard of a great beauty like Ren Jing. If this got out, countless men would probably break their heads trying to get the job, even for free.

Being inseparable from Ren Jing for three days, if he played his cards right, he might even have a chance to get some good skills. It was simply killing two birds with one stone.

Anyway, three days wouldn't delay filming. He would just have the producer shoot Fatty Guo Gang's scenes first.
