141: Chapter 141 Introduction
In the Human Race territory, there were three bustling cities.
In the east, south, and north, smoke curled from chimneys and voices buzzed; these were all settlements where the Human Race lived and worked in peace.
These were also the cities chosen by the trio: Que Liusun and the others.
At the entrance of the city in the Eastern region.
Que Liusun found a spacious spot, raised his hand to set up a table and chairs, and used his magical power to conjure a wooden sign, on which he wrote:
"Free medical treatment, saving the suffering!"
Eight bright, eye-catching characters.
He transformed himself into a gentle physician in plain clothes, sitting upright behind the stone table, his expression calm, yet hidden deep in his eyes was a trace of calculation.
He had barely set up his stall for a moment when a hunched figure slowly approached; it was the hunchbacked old man, an Incarnation of Emperor Shun.
The old man's clothes were tattered, his gait unsteady. One hand clutched his chest, while the other leaned on a withered wooden staff. He coughed as he walked up to the stall, his voice raspy and weak.
"Immortal, may I ask if it is true that you provide medical treatment for free here?"
Que Liusun looked up and sized him up. Seeing the old man possessed only the aura of a Mortal and had no cultivation, he instantly relaxed. His smile became even gentler as he raised his hand in a gesture of support:
"Rest assured, elder. We practitioners have descended the mountain solely to accumulate Karma and aid the Mortal. We take not a single cent. Please, sit down, and I shall treat you."
The old man sat down tremblingly, wheezing incessantly:
"Thank you, Immortal. Thank you, Immortal. This old ailment of mine has plagued me for over a decade; I truly cannot bear it any longer."
Que Liusun condensed a wisp of gentle magical power at his fingertip and lightly probed into the old man's body. In an instant, he eradicated the stubborn illness within. As he withdrew his hand, his tone was calm:
"It is nothing, elder. There was merely a buildup of turbid Qi in your body. I have already cleared your Meridians, and from now on, your pain will vanish."
Watching Que Liusun, he waved his finger lightly, and said it was finished.
The old man feigned a hint of confusion, but still slowly stood up and tried taking two steps.
With each step, his originally stiff legs instantly felt light, and there was no more tightness or pain in his chest.
The old man immediately showed gratitude, bowing deeply to Que Liusun:
"The Immortal is truly a living deity! You have saved this old bag of bones. When I return, I will certainly tell the neighbors so everyone can come to seek the Immortal's treatment!"
Seeing this, Que Liusun was secretly delighted; this was exactly the effect he wanted. He hurriedly helped the old man up:
"Elder, no need for such formalities. Treating illnesses and saving people is my duty. You should just go back and rest in peace."
"Ah! Good! Good! I will go promote the Immortal right away!"
The old man nodded repeatedly, leaning on his staff, and walked away with light steps. As he turned, a trace of imperceptible amusement flashed in his eyes.
After the old man left, he ran all over the city, telling everyone he met that a living deity had arrived at the street entrance, providing free medical treatment and curing illnesses instantly.
Within half an hour, Que Liusun's stall was surrounded by sick Mortals. Children cried and elderly groaned, all looking at him with great expectation.
Que Liusun treated them one by one, feeling the resentment of the Human Race within him slowly dissipate, and he became increasingly excited, his movements growing more efficient.
Not far away.
"Not bad."
The old man, the Incarnation of Emperor Shun, watched this scene and nodded slightly, confirming that this place was on the right track. A ripple of space flickered around him, and he vanished on the spot.
Appearing again, he was already in the South City.
At the entrance of the Southern region city, Venerable Daoxing had already set up his medical stall, with a similarly eye-catching wooden sign, and a large number of Mortals were already queuing up in front.
Emperor Shun stood in the crowd.
Watching the orderly medical stall and seeing Venerable Daoxing treating the Mortals with composure, the corners of his lips curled up imperceptibly.
"It seems my help is not needed here."
He had intended to help as he did in the Eastern region, but now it seemed he didn't need to waste his energy.
He did not linger, his figure swaying slightly in the crowd, and he completely vanished. When he appeared again, he had already arrived at the Northern region city.
At the entrance of the Northern region city, compared to the Eastern and Southern cities, this place appeared exceptionally deserted.
Master Lingbao wore black robes.
It had the same table, chairs, and benches, and the same slogan sign as Que Liusun and Venerable Daoxing.
The difference was that there were hardly any Mortals coming to the stall for treatment.
The North was the region with the harshest environment within the Mortal territory.
Due to external reasons, most of the people who settled here were physically robust.
People who had lived here for more than three generations basically had the blood of the Wu Race flowing in their Bloodline.
Therefore... it resulted in a scene where there was almost no one.
Emperor Shun shook his head and sighed: "It is almost impossible to treat a large number of Mortals in the Northern region."
"Considering you are willing to act as beasts of burden for the Human Race, I shall deign to give you some guidance."
As his words fell, Emperor Shun's appearance changed back into that of an old man.
He walked towards Master Lingbao's stall.
Master Lingbao saw another Mortal old man approaching, and a glimmer of joy flashed in his eyes.
He used a wisp of magical power to adjust the stool in front of the old man, setting it at a suitable distance to facilitate sitting.
"If you are here for treatment, then sit down."
The old man arrived at the stall but did not sit down. Instead, he looked at Master Lingbao with trepidation, his voice filled with cautious probing: "Immortal, seeing your extraordinary bearing and neat, clean attire, are you... are you an Immortal?"
Master Lingbao frowned slightly when he saw the old man did not sit, but he did not hide anything. He replied in a deep voice: "I am the Golden Immortal of the Chan Sect, Master Lingbao. I have come here to solve difficulties for the Human Race and accumulate Karma."
"So it is a Golden Immortal of the Chan Sect!"
The old man's face instantly lit up with wild joy. He got straight to the point, his tone earnest: "Immortal, since you are an omnipotent Golden Immortal, will... will you be able to ripen crops?"
The Northern region was cold, and agriculture was difficult. Some Mortals could only maintain the lowest vital signs and simply could not eat their fill.
Master Lingbao raised an eyebrow and asked suspiciously: "Ripen crops? This is a minor trick; I can naturally do it. Why do you ask this?"
"The Immortal does not know!" The old man's face was full of sorrow, his voice tinged with bitterness, "Our Northern region is freezing cold, and the land is barren. Crops are hard to harvest all year round, and most of our food relies on the other three regions."
"Therefore, I would like to ask the Immortal to ripen crops for us so we can eat our fill."
Upon hearing this, Master Lingbao's body trembled. A glimmer of realization flashed in his eyes, and he was instantly enlightened.
He had only thought of imitating the Pharmacist, but had forgotten the reality of the Northern region. The people here were physically strong and did not lack a physician like him; a lack of food was the biggest problem!
The old man watched his changing expression and knew he had realized it.
He left the stall and found a random passerby on the road.
He pointed at Master Lingbao and whispered like a demon in his ear: "That is an Immortal; he can ripen crops."
"What?"
The passerby's pupils dilated instantly, in disbelief, his voice loud: "He can ripen crops?"
With this sentence, the street instantly erupted.
Like a sea of people, they surged towards Master Lingbao's stall.
And Emperor Shun, deep in his fame and merit, disappeared into the crowd with satisfaction.
"No need to thank me; the Human Race will not mistreat those who make contributions."
The three Disciples of the Chan Sect—beasts of burden!
