40: Chapter 40 The Wandering Tribe of Yaochi

Yaochi bade farewell to Haotian, transformed into a beam of immortal light, escaped the Thirty-Six Heavens, and headed straight for the Primordial Land.

Her first stop was Mount Buzhou. Because Ancestral Witch Gong Gong had not yet collided with and broken the Heavenly Pillar, this Primordial ancestral vein still stood tall and imposing, majestic in its Aura. With all spirits bowing in worship and Spiritual Qi rising in mists, it was still, without a doubt, the number one sacred mountain of the Primordial world.

However, the wounds left by the war between the Witch and Demon clans were too deep. Even after countless years of healing, the cracks in the mountain were still clearly visible. The Evil Qi and battle scars remaining on the cliff walls still silently recounted the catastrophe that had once swept across heaven and earth.

Yaochi gathered the Spiritual Materials, Spiritual Plants, and gold crystals she found along the way, storing them all in her personal space. After scavenging a certain amount of low-grade Spiritual Roots and gold crystals, Yaochi left Mount Buzhou and continued her journey toward the east.

Whenever she encountered rare resources on the road, she took them; whenever she encountered people suffering from calamity, she saved them, constantly accumulating the Foundation of the Heavenly Court.

After traveling for an unknown amount of time, Yaochi stepped into the territory of the Human Race on the Coast of the East Sea.

By this time, the Human Race had already become the absolute hegemon of the Coast of the East Sea. Having sufficient food and territory, the Human Race began to expand rapidly.

Countless tribes sprang up, scattered across every corner of the Coast of the East Sea. However, due to the existence of Shi Yan, although each tribe was independent, they were required to notify the original tribe whenever there were major affairs, giving it a sense of centralized power.

At this moment, having just been guided by a Human Race Grand Unity Golden Immortal, Yaochi entered the Merit Thatched Cottage of Ancestor Youchao to meet the Three Ancestors.

"Yaochi of the Heavenly Court greets the three Fellow Daoists."

Yaochi's voice was cold and aloof, yet mixed with a trace of yearning.

As the Queen Mother of the Heavenly Court, nominally ruling over all spirits of the Primordial world, her status, position, and even cultivation were higher than those of the Three Ancestors; she should not have had any sense of desire.

But there was no help for it; the Heavenly Court was currently too poor. No money, no people, no resources—it had made Yaochi lose her confidence.

"Ancestor Sui Ren / Ancestor Youchao / Ancestor Ziyi..." "We greet Fellow Daoist."

After the salutations, the three Human Ancestors and Yaochi sat down.

Yaochi got straight to the point: "The Heavenly Court has just been established, and the Foundation of our immortal ranks is shallow. I have come specifically to discuss a transaction with the Human Race."

"The Heavenly Court is willing to trade Heavenly Court deities and Karma and Luck in exchange for the Human Race to take up positions in Heaven and for resources to rebuild the Heavenly Court."

As she spoke, she manifested the positions of many Heavenly Court deities for the Three Ancestors to consider.

There were the Four Seasons Gods who controlled spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the God of Wealth who managed the wealth of the world, and even the positions of the heads of the Water, Fire, and Thunder Departments. Each was a high-ranking position within the Heavenly Court, and the three departments even possessed military power and troops.

But seeing the many powerful divine positions before them, the Three Ancestors exchanged glances, each seeing the doubt in the other's heart.

Why would such a good thing come to the Human Race? Shouldn't they go to the Four Teachings, the Dragon, Phoenix, or White Tiger clans? How did it come to the Human Race?

Carrying the doubt in his heart, Fire Ancestor Sui Ren asked: "Fellow Daoist Yaochi, are these positions only being exchanged for some resources?"

With the Dao Ancestor's support, the Heavenly Court shouldn't be lacking these resources, right?

Yaochi nodded upon hearing this, waved her hand to disperse the divine positions, and a trace of sorrow appeared in her eyes.

"That is correct. The Heavenly Court has just been established; we have divine positions but no immortals to hold them, and we have Heavenly Rules but no soldiers to enforce them. That is why we are using these divine positions for trade."

As her voice fell, Yaochi's magic power surged, spreading a phantom image of the Heavenly Court's territory before the Three Ancestors—the dilapidated South Heaven Gate, the lusterless Lingxiao Palace, and the empty Heavenly Court treasury, all scenes of desolation.

Yaochi's gaze swept over the Three Ancestors—Sui Ren, Youchao, and Ziyi: "Can the Three Ancestors give me a definite answer? So I may return to the Heavenly Court to report to the Heavenly Emperor."

If the Human Race would not take up positions in Heaven, Yaochi would have no choice but to seek out some weaker races.

Looking at the ruins before them, the Three Ancestors finally confirmed that the Heavenly Court was truly poor; they had even started auctioning off deities.

The Three Ancestors communicated via Primordial Spirit, discussing the matter of the Human Race ascending to the Heavenly Court.

Ancestor Youchao: "I think it is feasible. The Human Race has a large number of mortal clansmen who have a great need for wind and rain. If we ascend to Heaven and take control of the four departments, the Human Race will surely become even more prosperous."

Ancestor Ziyi: "Agreed!"

Ancestor Sui Ren: "I will go ask for Fellow Daoist Shi Yan's opinion first."

Ancestor Ziyi: "Very well."

Inside the thatched cottage, Ancestor Sui Ren looked at Yaochi. "Regarding your matter, Fellow Daoist, I need to consult with the other Human Ancestors before I can make a decision."

Yaochi: "Very well."

Afterward, Ancestor Sui Ren stood up, bowed slightly to Yaochi, and stepped steadily out of the cottage.

Just as he stepped out of the cottage, the ground beneath his feet instantly transformed into a continuous phantom of Innate Spiritual Veins. The next moment, his figure had crossed thousands of miles of territory and arrived in front of an ordinary stone house.

"Fellow Daoist Shi Yan." Ancestor Sui Ren did not engage in unnecessary pleasantries and stated his purpose directly.

"The Heavenly Court's Queen Mother, Yaochi, has come in person to our settlement. She wishes to use divine positions and Karma as bargaining chips in exchange for Human Race Cultivators to take up positions in Heaven and assist in the reconstruction of the Heavenly Court.

This matter concerns the future of the Human Race, and we are unsure, so I have come specifically to seek your advice."

Upon hearing this, Shi Yan slowly opened his eyes. The river of time and space flowed within his pupils, and he immediately understood the ins and outs of the matter.

He waved his hand, bringing Ancestor Sui Ren into the stone house's cave heaven to take a seat.

Then he pondered Yaochi's affair.

"I didn't expect the Heavenly Court to be so poor that it lacks even the Materials for reconstruction, and is even trading away positions like the three departments."

"I just don't know which race obtained the positions of the three departments in the original timeline, but I imagine they were removed from office not long after."

After all, if they weren't removed, what would the Investiture of the Gods seal?

Of course, they might have been removed and replaced with other positions.

He then looked at Ancestor Sui Ren: "What do the Three Ancestors intend to do?"

Ancestor Sui Ren: "Ascending to Heaven is beneficial and harmless to the Human Race; we wish to trade with Yaochi."

Shi Yan nodded, pondering how to make the transaction maximize the benefits for the Human Race.

For the development of the Human Race, the most important thing is favorable weather, while the Human Race is actually not lacking in the Heavenly Court's Luck and Karma.

After the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, although The Six Sages occupied the majority of the Human Race's Karma and Luck, it still crowned the Primordial world.

After careful consideration, Shi Yan looked at Ancestor Sui Ren, his tone calm yet as heavy as Mount Buzhou.

"Trouble the Fire Ancestor to tell Yaochi that the Human Race will cover ten percent of the resources for the Heavenly Court's reconstruction, and the Human Race only wants the divine positions of the Water Department. However, the premise for all of this is that she and Haotian must swear a Heavenly Dao oath: the Human Race's positions in the Heavenly Court must be eternal. Unless the incumbent commits a fault that harms the Heavenly Court, they cannot be changed, and even if they are changed, the successor must also be from the Human Race."

He then took out the rare resources of an entire world from the Chaos Pearl and tossed them to Ancestor Sui Ren.

Ancestor Sui Ren took the world, nodded repeatedly, and indicated he understood.

"I will return now and inform Yaochi of all the conditions. I will ensure she acts according to the agreement and proclaims it to the Heavenly Dao."

Ancestor Sui Ren did not ask why they only wanted the Water Department, nor did he mention why they required Yaochi to proclaim it to the Heavenly Dao; he trusted Shi Yan unconditionally.

If it were not for the fact that Shi Yan refused to serve as the Clan Chief of the Human Race, saying the time was not yet right, he would still be the Clan Chief of the Human Race, with a status above the Three Ancestors.

After the Fire Ancestor left, Shi Yan looked in the direction of the Thirty-Six Heavens.

"The Six Sages bully you, all spirits look on, and the Human Race offers help in a time of need—getting an eternal divine position is not too much to ask, is it?"
