1: Rebirth of the Kraken

[Welcome, resurrected Great Beasts. You can use the AI image generation feature to see what Great Beast you were reborn as, and leave your appearance here.]

Pain!

My head... it hurts so much... Cold!

The bone-chilling cold didn't come from the air, but from the heavy, viscous, omnipresent seawater... Splash... Rumble... The dull surge of the water mixed with a more regular, mechanical hum—thump, thump, thump... It was the sound of a massive propeller churning the sea.

A ship... is passing over my head?

Where... where am I?

Didn't I... die?

Su Chen "tried hard" to open his eyes, only to realize he had no concept of "eyelids" opening or closing.

His perception was like a shattered kaleidoscope,

barely piecing together a twisted, dark field of vision:

All he could see was a deep, boundless azure blue,

Light faded high above, leaving behind an abyssal darkness.

Further above,

A huge, blurry steel silhouette was being pushed by the propeller, slowly rolling over the faint heavenly light,

leaving a turbulent white wake before finally disappearing at the edge of his sight.

In the sea... I'm actually in the sea!

Thinking this,

Su Chen "moved."

It wasn't the coordinated movement of human limbs.

Instead... eight? Ten? Limbs, thick as ancient colossal pillars, whose number Su Chen couldn't precisely perceive,

twitched and churned uncontrollably.

Massive suckers scraped across the rough seabed rocks, making a dull "crunching" sound,

effortlessly grinding a piece of hard basalt into dust!

This strength caused Su Chen himself to feel a strange... unfamiliar and terrifying tremor.

Who am I?

Fragmented memories, like deep-sea currents,

violently impacted Su Chen's confused consciousness:

Warships easily twisted into pretzels by tentacles,

deafening explosions,

the screams and wails of soldiers.

Su Chen violently shook his massive, heavy head,

stirring up a swirling vortex of water.

I... I am Su Chen!

Divine Summer's Chixiao Fleet! Lieutenant Machine Gun Chief!

Didn't I... wasn't I torn apart and swallowed along with my warship by that terrifying Kraken?

Why... why did I turn into... into this monster?!

Su Chen looked at one of his tentacles stretching out,

It resembled a living, terrifying mountain range covered in dark keratin and massive suckers, easily extending a hundred meters away, churning the dim seawater.

In the previous life,

Blue Star was forcibly merged into this terrifying world known as the Endless Sea.

The ocean area expanded infinitely,

and along with it,

came endless deep-sea Great Beasts and ferocious Alien Races from Other Dimensions.

Humanity's pride—nuclear weapons and missiles—were like children's toy firecrackers before those terrifying existences, shattering upon contact.

In less than a month,

Blue Star's habitable space shrank by 99%,

and 99% of humanity died.

Su Chen was swallowed by this Kraken during the final battle defending Divine Summer's coastline.

[Warning: Although the Host is a Kraken, it will still be viewed as a threat by the invading Alien Races and targeted for attack and hunting!]

A system?!

Rebirth?! A Kraken?!

One month before the Alien Race invasion?!

After the immense shock, a surge of ecstatic relief at surviving instantly flooded Su Chen's heart.

This body!

This terrifying power of the Kraken!

He knew it better than anyone!

Sturdy warships were twisted like pretzels under its tentacles!

Missiles striking its tough skin only produced a few insignificant splashes!

The three ten-thousand-ton destroyers of the Chixiao Fleet, where Su Chen served in his previous life,

were easily torn apart and pulverized by this Great Beast!

"Becoming it... becoming this Kraken... In thirty days... perhaps... I really can survive!"

However,

as soon as this thought emerged,

the terrifying, thousand-zhang Great Beast appeared in Su Chen's mind,

along with the countless powerful Alien Races flying in the sky.

The gigantic War Mechas that Blue Star poured resources into creating,

were like fragile cardboard shells before the Great Beasts, easily crushed and ripped apart!

With a wave of their hands, the Alien Races

could level a small city of tens of thousands of people.

"No—!"

"It's not enough! Right now... I'm still not strong enough! This amount of power... won't be nearly enough in the hell that awaits in thirty days! I'll die... I'll still die!"

"I must continue to get stronger!"

Su Chen's consciousness roared silently within the Great Beast's body.

Boom!

Just then,

a massive hunger, originating from the very core of life and capable of burning away all reason, struck!

Hungry!

So hungry!!

Need food! Now! Immediately!

Su Chen's vast perception instantly spread out like an invisible net across the surrounding sea.

In the dim currents ahead,

a huge, streamlined shadow was sweeping past silently, moving its powerful caudal fin.

A pale white belly,

sharp, dagger-like teeth gleamed coldly in the dim light.

"Is that... a Great White Shark?"

He saw that,

in front of Su Chen,

was a massive shark, over 10 meters long, slowly cruising.

[Species: Mutated Great White Shark—Adult Form]

[Length: 11 meters]

[Weight: 90 tons]

[Realm: Rank 3]

[Strength: 100]

[Agility: 120]

[Physique: 80]

[Perception: 100]

[Evaluation: A rampaging Great White Shark that mutated after being eroded by an unknown force. Trust me, you wouldn't like being bitten by it.]

Looking at the panel before him,

Su Chen's eyes narrowed slightly,

"Sure enough, creatures in the ocean had already begun mutating even before the Alien Race invasion."

"Although this guy is Rank 3, its attributes are far lower than mine. This must be the racial advantage of the Kraken as a Legendary Species."

"Alright, you're the one!"

"Little shark, become my lunch!"

Su Chen opened his eyes wide,

ten terrifying tentacles, covered in hideous suckers and thick as ancient colossal pillars, instantly straightened and shot out!

Like ten massive Demonic Dragons emerging from the abyss of hell, they tore through the water, carrying destructive power, strangling the unsuspecting giant shark from all directions!

"Roar—!!!"

The Mutated Great White Shark was extremely vigilant and instantly sensed danger,

violently twisting its massive body, trying to escape!

But,

its 120 Agility, when crushed by Su Chen's 500 Agility,

was slow as stillness!

Fast!

Too fast!

The Great White Shark only darted out less than ten meters,

when several cold, slimy giant pythons imbued with terrifying power wrapped around it!

Instantly locking down its head, torso, and caudal fin!

"Roar—!!!"

The terrified shriek was suppressed by the seawater into a dull drumbeat.

It didn't understand,

how someone could treat it as food when it was the Overlord of this sea region.

The next second,

the muscles in the tentacles wrapped around the shark instantly bulged and contracted!

Like a ten-thousand-ton hydraulic press slamming shut!

Pfft—!

A dull, heart-stopping crunching sound rang out!

The Great White Shark's tough body instantly collapsed and deformed, like a berry being squeezed until it burst!

"Good, good, good, dinner is served!"

Su Chen, who was starving,

immediately began his feast.

Moments later, the massive Megalodon was eaten until only the shark's head remained.

[Ding, devoured Mutated Megalodon (Rank 3), obtained evolution points—3 points (3/1000). Upon reaching 1000 evolution points, you can evolve to Rank 2.]

[Ding! Detecting Host's first successful devour, limited-time special mission activated—Gluttony!]

[Gluttony (Limited-Time Mission): Advance to Rank 3 Realm within 72 hours.]

[Mission Reward: Awaken Kraken Exclusive Talent *1]

Looking at this sudden limited-time mission,

Su Chen was dumbfounded,

"Wait? Rank up to Rank 3 in 3 days?"

"Are you kidding me?!"

That Rank 3 Mutated Great White Shark, despite its huge size, only provided a measly 3 evolution points!

Advancing from Rank 1 to Rank 2 requires a full 1000 points!

What does this mean?

It means he would need to devour over three hundred Great White Sharks just to barely reach Rank 2!

Three days?

In this vast deep sea, relying on his own hunting, finding and eating over three hundred powerful Mutated Sea Beasts in three days?

Reaching Rank 2 in three days would be a miracle!

Reaching Rank 3 is completely impossible!!

"Could it be... that I have to give up this Exclusive Talent?"

Lu Chen was filled with unwillingness,

The Exclusive Skill of a Legendary Species must be incredible.

Just then—

Buzz... Buzz... Buzz... That familiar, low, and regular propeller roar once again penetrated the layers of seawater, clearly entering Su Chen's unusually sharp perception.

It's a warship!

Another ship is sailing through the waters above!

This sound,

was extremely familiar to Su Chen, who had been a naval officer in his previous life.

The moment he heard this sound,

the tip of one of Su Chen's tentacles unconsciously curled up,

a cold, audacious idea involuntarily surfaced,

"Heh..."

"It's too slow for me to catch prey myself... but others... they can help me 'catch' it!"
