131: Chapter 131 Facing the Enemy

"What a cute little life."

Ivy looked at the baby in Lin Qing's arms, a flash of sadness in her eyes.

"Among our Winged Race, reproduction is extremely difficult due to the limitations of our bloodline and environment. The birth of a newborn is a miracle celebrated by the entire guild. Unfortunately... they are becoming rarer and rarer now."

Seeing the two big sisters, Xiao Kong's eyes were filled with curiosity, and his little hands clutched at the air, seemingly wanting to reach out to them.

Ivy and Sheila took two steps back, afraid of affecting the human baby.

Lin Qing smiled gently and took a few steps forward with the baby in her arms. "It's fine, Xiao Kong is very brave. He's not afraid of strangers."

Zhang Ming stood beside his wife and child, scratching his head sheepishly. "Yeah, this little guy has been breathing in high-concentration spiritual energy on this island, so his body is in great shape. By the way, I haven't asked yet, did you sleep well last night?"

"Very well, thank you for taking care of us."

Sheila lowered her head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

As they chatted, the topic naturally drifted to the master of this fortress.

"Mr. Zhang Ming, is your boss... always this terrifying?"

Sheila hesitated for a moment but couldn't help asking.

"When he pointed a gun at me last night, I felt like he could kill me at any second."

Hearing this, Zhang Ming and Lin Qing exchanged a look and both burst out laughing.

"Our boss, he's cold on the outside but warm on the inside, and he's extremely guarded."

Zhang Ming's tone was filled with undisguised admiration and gratitude.

"In this damn apocalypse, if you don't have a bit of ruthlessness, our squad would have been finished long ago. Outside, he is a god of death, but in the eyes of his own people, he is the best boss in the world. Rest assured, as long as you don't cross his bottom line, he will never make things difficult for you."

Ivy and Sheila couldn't help but feel a stir in their hearts upon hearing these words.

Thinking about it carefully, although they were brought back as "test subjects," their situation was ten thousand times better than falling into the hands of the orcs.

Not only were they not bound in humiliating chains, but they also lived in comfortable rooms, ate exquisite food that even the high-ranking members of their own guild couldn't enjoy, and even that doctor named Shen Xingyue was very gentle when taking samples.

"Perhaps humans aren't as evil as the rumors say..."

Ivy murmured softly as she gazed at the purple sky.

However, this rare tranquility did not last long.

"Wuuu—!!!"

A piercing air-raid siren suddenly blared across the entire island, startling a flock of Purple Crystal Birds in the distance.

[Warning! Radar matrix has detected high-energy fleet signals!]

[Enemy coordinates: Due north. Distance: Fifty kilometers. Fleet size: Fourteen heavy warships, including a Level 5 capital ship!]

"EVA, turn on the holographic projection and switch the feed over!"

In the hall, Zhou An stood up immediately.

EVA quickly pulled up the feed, and a massive holographic screen instantly unfolded in mid-air.

On the screen, a heavy fleet of fourteen ships flying the flag of the crimson crescent moon tore through the clouds like a pack of wolves smelling blood, charging menacingly toward the island.

The few people on the ground also immediately returned to the second floor of the warship, where Sheila and Ivy happened to see the projection.

"It's them! The Blood Moon Guild's Gray Wolf Fleet!"

When they clearly saw the extremely familiar wolf-head ram on the flagship, Ivy and Sheila's pupils shrank violently. The two cried out almost simultaneously, their feathers instantly standing on end.

"Zhang Ming! Take Lin Qing and Xiao Kong back to your room!"

Zhou An quickly changed into his combat suit and walked toward the elevator.

"Xingyue, you go back to your room and hide as well. Muzi, you and Old Zhang will be in charge of controlling the fortress in a bit."

"Understood, Boss! Be careful!"

Just as Zhou An was about to step onto the elevator, Ivy and Sheila suddenly rushed over, blocking his path.

"Take us with you!"

Ivy's deep blue eyes burned with an extremely intense hatred and anger.

Zhou An stopped and sized them up. Although these two alien girls were prisoners, the killing intent in their eyes was genuine.

"Fine. Since you want to help, I'll let you draw some blood."

Zhou An didn't waste any words and simply waved his hand.

"EVA, take full control of the fortress's fire control and navigation systems, prepare to take off and face the enemy! You two, come with me to find Luo Ning to see if there's any suitable gear for you."

"Command received. Cloud Top Fortress, engine ignition."

Inside the armory on the bottom level of the fortress.

Luo Ning was standing in front of rows of weapon racks shimmering with flowing light, looking at the two Winged girls who had just run in.

"You guys really never give me a break. Tell me, what kind of weapons do you usually use?"

Luo Ning asked casually.

"Anything! As long as we can kill the werewolves, any weapon will do!"

Sheila said through gritted teeth.

"Then I'll equip you with something that has both offense and defense."

Luo Ning turned around and entered a password on the console.

With a click, the hidden weapon bay behind her slowly rose. Luo Ning used a mechanical arm to drag out two sets of combat armor radiating a silver-black luster.

"These are experimental combat armors I used before. Although they're old models I phased out, they still have a legendary grade foundation. Their defense and stat boosts are definitely more than enough. Plus, the back armor has been adapted, so it won't interfere with your wings. Just make do with them."

Luo Ning threw the two priceless sets of armor to them as if throwing away trash. Then, she pulled two weapons off the weapon rack.

She threw a pitch-black spear with violent blue electric arcs flickering on its blade to Ivy. "[Thunderstorm Spear]. The thunderstorm at the tip can easily tear through Energy Shields at Level 4 and below. The shaft is integrated with a plasma generator, which can electrocute an elephant into charcoal the instant it stabs."

Next, she stuffed a sniper rifle with a terrifyingly large caliber into Sheila's arms. "[Pulse Sniper]. The recoil is massive, but the rate of fire is extremely fast. It hits exactly where you aim within a thousand meters. It's specifically designed to crack open the command cabins of those warships."

"They're both legendary grade. They're not Level 6, but they'll do."

Ivy and Sheila held the gear in their hands, completely dazed.

Phased-out old models? Just make do? legendary grade?!

Just how insanely wealthy were these two humans?!

"Stop dazing off! Put on the armor and head to the open-air combat platform at the top of the fortress!"

Zhou An's voice rang out through the armory's broadcast system.

"Rumble—!!!"

Accompanied by an earth-shaking tremor, the [Cloud Top Fortress] slowly rose into the sky.

On the platform at the top of the fortress, Ivy held her spear while Sheila set up her heavy sniper. Their two pairs of pure white feathered wings suddenly unfurled from within the armor.

In front of them, Zhou An and Luo Ning had already piloted their vehicles, turning into streaks of light as they took the lead in charging into the clouds.
