149: Chapter 149 Hoffmann

Watching the legendary healing pod on the holographic projection, which was imbued with a sense of technological beauty, the greed in Cormac's eyes nearly materialized.

He shifted his gaze away from the projection, resumed his Great Elder persona, and asked in a deep voice:

"What is the price for this legendary healing pod?"

"Three million level-five supply units."

Shen Xingyue adjusted her rimless glasses, her cool, composed voice ringing out clearly in the spacious conference room.

"With the purchase of a single device, we will include enough 'Star Origin Medical Fluid' for three uses. If you need to replenish the medical fluid later, a single portion is priced at fifty thousand level-five units."

Upon hearing this quote, even though Cormac had mentally prepared himself, his eye twitched uncontrollably.

Three million! This was practically cutting off a piece of him! Coupled with the subsequent fifty thousand per portion for the consumable medical fluid, it was a total bottomless pit.

However, Cormac understood clearly that a legendary grade life-saving artifact capable of helping a fifth-tier powerhouse rapidly recover their combat effectiveness truly commanded such an insane price in the current Cangyun Airspace, and was often impossible to find even with the money.

Shen Xingyue keenly caught the flicker of embarrassment and hesitation in Cormac's eyes.

As a top-tier researcher, reading people and manipulating psychology were among her strengths.

"If the Great Elder feels the initial investment for the legendary grade equipment is too high, we have an alternative plan."

Shen Xingyue shifted her tone, and with a wave of her hand, the diagram on the holographic screen switched to another, slightly smaller device.

"This is an epic grade healing pod, priced at fifty thousand level-five units. While its effectiveness for fifth-tier powerhouses is significantly reduced, it is highly effective for wounded individuals at the fourth tier and below, producing immediate results. Furthermore, if your guild makes a bulk purchase, we can offer tiered discounts."

Shen Xingyue paused before casting her biggest bait: "Additionally, to demonstrate our medical capabilities, we can provide a free trial service. You may select a critically wounded individual and see the results for yourself."

"A trial service?"

Hearing this, Cormac's eyes immediately lit up.

He had been fretting over how to verify the authenticity of such expensive equipment, and the fact that they had proactively offered a trial played right into his hands.

"Miss Li, Dr. Shen, I have seen your sincerity."

Cormac nodded with satisfaction and turned to look at a fifth-tier guard behind him.

"Take these esteemed guests to my private residence and find Hoffman. Let him personally experience the effects of this healing pod."

Hoffman was Cormac's biological son, who had been severely wounded by the Beast Race during the bloody battle a few days prior and had been bedridden and unable to move ever since.

Using his own son to test the treatment allowed him to heal his son's severe injuries for free while simultaneously verifying the authenticity of the equipment—truly killing two birds with one stone.

Upon hearing the words "private residence," Shen Xingyue slightly furrowed her lovely brows and asked with feigned confusion: "Great Elder, are we not going to the guild's medical department for testing? There should be a larger pool of wounded patients there, which would make it easier for us to demonstrate the full extent of the equipment's efficacy."

"Ahem..."

A flicker of unnatural stiffness crossed Cormac's refined face, but he quickly masked it with a calm smile.

"Dr. Shen, you are unaware. The warriors of our White Feather Guild are deeply blessed by the Wind God, so we suffered no major casualties in the battle a few days ago. Currently, the medical department is mostly occupied by warriors with minor injuries. As for the very few who are more seriously wounded, they are recuperating in their own quarters to provide them with a better environment. Hoffman is one of them."

Cormac's words were high-sounding and flawless.

However, Zhou An, who had been silently standing behind Li Muzi like a piece of background scenery, felt a cold glint flash through his eyes.

'No major casualties? Only minor injuries in the medical department?' Zhou An sneered inwardly.

The White Feather Guild had been completely routed by the Beast Race's heavy fleet; how could they have no critically wounded? Even if we take a step back, given the Winged Race's current desperate situation, they simply lacked the resources to treat a large number of critically wounded individuals.

"Since the Great Elder has made the arrangements, we will follow your lead."

Li Muzi stood up at the appropriate moment and elegantly smoothed her hem.

"I'll leave it to you all. Once Hoffman's condition improves, we will return to finalize the purchase order."

Cormac smiled and raised his wine glass to see them off.

Zhou An remained silent, following Li Muzi and Shen Xingyue as they left the opulent conference room with the guard.

Led by the fifth-tier guard, the three of them traversed the intricate metal corridors within the flagship, the wind chaser.

Soon, they arrived at a heavily guarded private entrance. It was less of a residence and more of an independent territory within the flagship.

"Thud! Thud-thud!"

The guard stepped forward and knocked on the heavy, dark purple door with extreme caution and decorum; the sound rang out particularly abruptly in the silent corridor.

"Get out! Get out, all of you! How many times do I have to say it? Those useless potions don't work, so stop bothering me!"

A beast-like roar erupted from within, accompanied by the muffled thud of a heavy object slamming against the door, revealing the extreme irritability and despair of the occupant.

The guard shrank his neck, and under the pressure, shouted an explanation: "Young Master, the Great Elder has personally invited top-tier human physicians who have brought a legendary grade healing device, claiming it can treat your injuries!"

The room fell into a brief, deathly silence. A moment later, accompanied by the heavy sound of mechanical gears turning, the door slowly slid open.

A thick, nauseating, metallic-sweet stench rushed out to meet them.

Zhou An looked up to see a young Winged Race man slumped in a large recliner.

His face, which should have been handsome, was now a strange, deep purple, his eyes were bloodshot, and his aura was withered to the extreme.

His chest was wrapped in thick gauze, but even so, dark, tainted blood continued to seep through, staining the pristine white sheets in a mottled mess.

This was Great Elder Cormac's only son, Hoffman.

Shen Xingyue took only one glance, and a flash of understanding passed through her cool, composed eyes behind her rimless glasses.

Hoffman lifted his eyelids, appraising Shen Xingyue, who was leading the group.

Perhaps intimidated by Shen Xingyue's extreme, professional composure, his manic mood calmed slightly, and he spoke in a hoarse voice: "Human physicians? If you're here to peddle that trash that only relieves pain, you can get out now."

"Your wounds refuse to heal because your body is being continuously disintegrated by a potent, corrosive external toxin."

Shen Xingyue stepped into the room, her tone as flat as if she were reading a laboratory report.

"If I'm not mistaken, this is the 'Bone-Eroding Neurotoxin' unique to the 'Snake Race' among the Beast Race. This toxin consumes your life energy like a parasite, and ordinary epic grade potions simply cannot eradicate it."

Hoffman's pupils constricted sharply, and his previously dim eyes instantly lit up with a glimmer of hope: "How did you know it was the Snake Race? Those idiot physicians only said I was poisoned... Do you have a way to cure it?"

"Of course."

Shen Xingyue didn't waste any words. With a wave of her hand, a legendary healing pod appeared out of thin air in the open space of the room, its heavy base hitting the floor with a muffled thud.
