208: Chapter 208 Untitled Draft

She looked at Su Lin in disbelief, her voice trembling: "You... how is it possible that you..."

The woman stumbled back a few steps, and for the first time, genuine fear appeared on her hideous, fish-like face.

But Su Lin did not continue his attack.

Because there were some things he had not yet figured out.

The woman before him had been locked in this underground space by the Ancestor and was guarded by that three-god composite statue.

If nothing went wrong, the so-called offering was likely related to her.

Perhaps even... she might very well be the offering herself.

Thinking this, he simply said calmly: "Do you know about the Sea Siren Clan's sacrifice?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the woman's body stiffened abruptly.

Those cloudy, fish-like eyes suddenly constricted, as if a raw nerve had been struck.

"Sacrifice?"

Her voice suddenly became sharp and piercing, filled with anger and resentment that had been suppressed for who knows how many years.

"You dare bring up the sacrifice to me? If it weren't for that sacrifice, how could I have ended up like this!"

She roared, her body beginning to tremble violently.

Dark green scales stood on end one by one, and the water elements around her surged frantically.

"That man, he deceived me! He tricked me into coming here and turned me into this ghastly state, all for that damn sacrifice!"

Her voice was as shrill as a ghost's wail, echoing endlessly throughout the underground space.

"He took everything from me, turned me into something neither human nor ghost, and trapped me here, day and night, in a fate worse than death!"

As she finished speaking, the surrounding stone pillars suddenly lit up with blinding light.

Dark green runes flickered frantically, wriggling like living things, and a vast, cold aura erupted from deep within the stone pillars.

Water elements began to converge madly, coalescing into a blurred phantom in the center of the altar.

The phantom was half-human and half-fish, its outline blurred, yet it exuded a terrifying pressure that made one's Soul tremble.

Su Lin's pupils constricted instantly. He recognized this phantom at a glance.

In Linyuan Town, such statues were worshipped everywhere. The Lord of the Deep Sea.

He had previously assumed that the Lord of the Deep Sea was a new belief that appeared only after the decline of Linyuan Village.

It was a new deity that the residents of Linyuan Town had turned to after losing the protection of the Ancestor.

But now it seemed that the source of this belief was far more ancient than he had imagined.

In fact, the Lord of the Deep Sea had already existed during the era when the Ancestor was still active.

Moreover, the Ancestor was clearly aware of it and may have even been involved.

Thinking about this, Su Lin's brow furrowed even deeper.

So, what exactly was the relationship between these two deities?

And what was the Ancestor's attitude toward these two deities?

But now was clearly not the time to ponder these things.

Because, as the phantom appeared, the surrounding water elements began to surge wildly.

Countless bubbles rose from the water. These bubbles were translucent and dark green, each the size of a human head, dense and overwhelming.

Inside the bubbles, tiny half-human, half-fish lives were curled up.

Their bodies were not yet fully developed, limbs curled, tails gently swaying, eyes tightly closed as if in deep sleep.

Upon seeing these bubbles, a strange tenderness suddenly appeared in the woman's cloudy fish-like eyes.

Her voice became gentle, as if lulling a child to sleep.

"My children, don't be afraid, Mother is here, Mother will protect you."

Su Lin was stunned upon hearing this. The lives inside these bubbles were actually her children.

But the Bone King had already moved; he would not give any potential threat a chance to breathe.

He raised his hands, and scorching flames erupted from his palms, sweeping toward those bubbles like a tidal wave.

"No—!!!"

The woman let out a heart-wrenching wail, desperately channeling water elements to try and block the flames.

But how could she possibly withstand the Bone King's flames?

Wherever the flames passed, the bubbles burst one after another; the unformed lives inside did not even have time to let out a cry before turning into charred remains and falling away.

In just a few seconds, all the bubbles were burned to ashes.

The woman collapsed to her knees, her body trembling violently.

She watched the scattering ashes, and for the first time, tears streamed from those fish-like eyes.

She let out a shriek of extreme desolation.

It was the wail of a mother who had everything taken from her, the despair of having been imprisoned for centuries, only for her sole hope to be completely crushed.

"You... you will all suffer a terrible death!"

She suddenly lifted her head, her fish-like eyes having turned completely into a frenzied crimson.

Her body began to expand wildly, scales standing on end, and the water elements around her erupted like a volcano.

The phantom of the Lord of the Deep Sea in the center of the altar suddenly solidified several times over.

A terrifying pressure bore down like a physical force.

The surrounding stone pillars shook violently, and the light of the dark green runes flared up intensely.

A vast, suffocating power poured out from the phantom and surged into the woman's body.

Her aura climbed steadily, quickly breaking through the limits of the Calamity Level and shooting straight toward the Catastrophe Level!

A massive and complex Magic Circle slowly appeared above the altar.

Dark green runes swirled and intertwined, exuding a terrifying aura capable of crushing everything.

The woman stood in the center of the Magic Circle, her long hair dancing wildly, her fish-like eyes filled with madness and determination.

She was going to fight to the death.

However, Su Lin just smiled contemptuously.

He raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. "Prism Refraction!"

The next second, countless scorching colored lasers erupted from the Void Realm out of thin air.

Like a torrential rain, they poured down toward the woman and the phantom.

"Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!"

The speed of the lasers was too fast for the naked eye to capture.

The stone pillars, which were running frantically, could not even manage to form a defense before being accurately struck by the lasers.

"Crack! Crack! Crack!"

The stone pillars exploded with a roar, sending fragments flying in all directions.

The Magic Circle, not yet fully formed, was pierced with countless holes by the lasers, its dark green runes beginning to disorder and energy dissipating everywhere.

The phantom of the Lord of the Deep Sea also shook violently under the continuous bombardment of the countless lasers, finally shattering with a roar and dissipating into specks of light.

The woman was pierced through the body by several lasers, sent flying backward, and slammed hard against the edge of the altar, coughing up a large mouthful of dark green blood.

Her aura instantly withered to the extreme; she couldn't even stand up.

The altar, which had been operating frantically just a moment ago, was now a scene of devastation.

Shen Qingci and Lin Weixia were stunned when they saw this scene.

One second. And then another second.

Such a terrifying Magic Circle, such a powerful aura—it had been smashed to pieces before it could even fully form.

However, Su Lin just withdrew his hand, looked at the woman slumped on the ground with unfocused eyes, and shook his head playfully:

"Your wind-up is too long; enemies won't wait for you to finish your skill channel."

"Of course, neither will I!"
