296: Chapter 296 The Intimate Vispera! The Unwilling Nyss!
Aksai City.
In the shadows of the street corner.
Neither of them spoke immediately, merely appraising each other.
Looking at the seemingly charming yet extremely dangerous woman before him, Rowan suddenly thought of something.
If the two of them were to fight right here in the city, given the destructive power of legendary-tier powerhouses exchanging blows, very few people in all of Aksai City would likely survive.
He realized——
In this world, aren't legendary powerhouses simply too unreasonable?!
Therefore, after pondering for a moment, he spoke:
"Madam, is there something you need from me?"
Vespera, however, remained silent.
She simply walked up to Rowan step by step, slightly tilted her head upward, and closely examined Rowan's handsome face, a flash of amazement passing through her eyes.
Then, her entire body leaned in, naturally hooking her arm around Rowan's, and she said with a smile:
"Red Moon Proxy, won't you accompany me for a walk?"
Feeling the warm and soft sensation coming from his arm, Rowan looked toward the smiling and charming woman beside him.
He thought for a moment, then gently nodded:
"Alright."
The buildings of Aksai City mostly featured a rugged northern style, with sharp-roofed wooden houses and masonry towers standing in interlaced rows, and iron signs hanging along both sides of the streets.
Ever since arriving in this city, this was the first time Rowan had examined the city in such detail.
With his arm linked by Vespera, the two of them held an intimate posture, resembling a couple who had known each other for many years.
Yet Rowan was clear that the lady beside him was a genuine legendary powerhouse, and very likely a Vampire Prince with an unknown purpose.
"You seem to care somewhat about these people." Vespera suddenly turned her head slightly, her red lips curving upward slightly, "Rest assured, I won't make a move here."
Hearing this, Rowan smiled, looked at the stunning face beside him that appeared nearly translucent in the sunlight, and then said:
"I was just wondering, beautiful lady, what is it that you want to do by coming to find me?"
Vespera did not reply.
The two continued walking forward, passing through the busiest main street and turning into a slightly secluded alley.
Deep within the alley was a tavern, with a few wooden tables placed on the bluestone slab ground.
The owner was a one-eyed old man, currently boiling something with a huge copper pot, and the aroma of malt and cinnamon drifted out from the steam.
"Sit for a while?" Vespera released his arm, sat down at one of the tables of her own accord, crossed her legs, and assumed a casual posture.
Rowan took a seat across from her.
The old dwarf brought over two cups of steaming liquor, a layer of golden grease foam floating on the surface of the turbid liquid.
Vespera picked up the cup, sniffed it, and narrowed her eyes in satisfaction:
"Northern mead, with pine resin and wild honey added, feels not bad."
She took a shallow sip, getting a few drops of liquor stained on the edge of her lips, which she gently licked away.
Rowan also picked up his wine glass and took a sip.
The mead tasted sweet and fierce upon entering the mouth, carrying the subtle, bitter aftertaste of pine wood; it was indeed not bad.
At this moment, Vespera suddenly leaned forward slightly, her beautiful eyes like wine-red glass staring at Rowan without blinking, her voice gentle and carrying a hint of lingering tenderness:
"My Lord, can you let me visit your new castle?"
The slightly cool alley breeze swept across the street, and the iron sign of the tavern made a soft sound.
Rowan did not answer immediately.
He lowered his gaze, slowly finished the remaining mead in his cup, and placed the empty cup on the table.
"That is certainly no easy matter," he raised his gaze, directly looking into those dangerous eyes, and chuckled:
"You should have researched my hobbies. Are you prepared to pay the price, Madam?"
Vespera stared at him for three seconds.
Then, she laughed.
Laughing until her eyebrows curved into crescents, laughing until her shoulders shook, laughing wantonly and brightly.
Laughing to the point that even the old man boiling wine nearby couldn't help turning his head to take a glance at this soul-stirring woman.
Rowan watched quietly.
The other party was already peerlessly stunning in appearance, and such a cheerful expression added a few more parts of vivid allure.
This made him grow even more interested in her.
"Of course, my Red Moon Proxy." Vespera finished laughing, gradually reined in her smile, and then lifted her eyes with a light smile: "Then let's set off!"
Black Rock Castle.
Rowan had returned.
Only compared to when he went out, by his side there was now an additional woman of supreme beauty.
Several maidservants and guards in the hall lowered their heads in salute when they saw Rowan return.
But when their peripheral vision swept past the strange woman by Rowan's side, they all couldn't help but freeze slightly.
Such a beautiful woman, but the aura naturally emanating from her made them instinctively dare not look too much, and they all lowered their gazes, holding their breaths and silencing themselves.
Niss had also received the news long ago.
During the period when Rowan and Vespera were strolling through the streets, the informants in the city had transmitted the news back.
The Count had his arm linked by a strange, peerlessly beautiful woman on the street, and the two walked side by side, chatting and laughing, entirely like a pair who had known each other for a long time.
Niss felt curious at the time: what background could a woman capable of making Rowan treat her this way possibly have?
At this moment, standing in the shadows of the corridor on one side of the hall, her gaze lingered on Vespera for a split second, and then she slightly released a wisp of aura, probing toward that woman.
However, the moment her aura touched Vespera's surroundings, it was as if it had crashed into an invisible wall, instantly dissipating without a trace.
Following closely, a vast and chilling pressure surged back like a tide, and although it was only fleeting, it caused Niss's complexion to pale instantly.
Her heart shrank violently, and her feet involuntarily retreated half a step.
This aura far surpassed a Sky Knight, absolutely belonging to the might of a legendary powerhouse!
Niss stood frozen in place, her mind completely blank.
Where on earth did another legendary powerhouse come from in the Northern Territory?
Since when were legendary powerhouses, which were rarely seen in the past, so worthless, popping up one after another?
Vespera merely glanced casually at Niss who was spying on her, and didn't pay much attention to her.
Just an Earth Knight, not even a Sky Knight, not worth her spending much thought on.
She intimately linked her arm in Rowan's, followed him through the hall, and walked up along the stairs.
Meanwhile, watching the vanishing backs of the two, Niss bit her lip, a trace of unwillingness flashing through her beautiful eyes.
If Rowan hadn't stepped in to protect her just now, she probably would have been severely injured on the spot.
And this place——
Was clearly her family's castle!
