Ready

Strange creatures on the frontier, their words carry the weight of law.

After resting and fully recovering his state, Nightmare felt that after the ordeal in the Star-Shattering Belt, his cultivation and nirvana dao seed seemed even more refined; pressure truly was the best catalyst.

He stood up and brushed off non-existent dust. Su Wanqing also opened her eyes, the divine light within her pupils contained; her cultivation seemed to have advanced by another sliver. This Nine Aperture Exquisite Body was truly a bug.

"Let's go, let's see what kind of fun things this 'Chaos Frontier' has." Nightmare's tone was relaxed, but his Divine Sense had already been quietly and fully deployed, vigilantly scanning the surrounding airspace, which was colorful and didn't look quite like the normal Void Realm.

The two left the meteorite and randomly chose a direction to start flying at low speed. The main thing was to first get a feel for the situation; the star chart in the system was as fragmented as if it had been chewed by a dog, only able to vaguely point in a direction.

Not long after flying, Nightmare frowned.

The "wild" Spiritual Qi in this place was quite potent to absorb, but it was always mixed with some messy things. Sometimes it was tiny spores that could cause hallucinations, sometimes it was spatial dust carrying corrosive energy, and the system even captured some weak but malicious spiritual fragments—who knew which unlucky Soul had died here and left them behind.

"Senior Brother, there seems to be something over there." Su Wanqing suddenly pointed to a twisted nebula ahead and to the left, which looked like splashed oil paint.

Nightmare's Divine Sense immediately swept over. Sure enough, against the backdrop of that eerily colorful nebula, several dark shadows were drifting toward them with very irregular, convulsive movements.

Once they were closer, they could clearly see what the things looked like.

How to put it? It was like taking a lump of mud, a few tentacles, and some crystals flashing with ominous light and smashing them together randomly. And, damn it, it was dynamic; its shape was constantly changing! As a whole, it exuded an aura of "Chaos," "Disorder," and "sanity-draining."

[Unknown lifeform detected: Chaos Spawn (tentatively named). Energy Rank: approximately Soul Transformation Stage. Characteristics: Unstable physical form, relatively high energy resistance, possesses spiritual pollution traits. Threat Rank: Low.]

"So... so ugly..." Su Wanqing subconsciously shrank behind Nightmare. It wasn't that she was afraid; it was just that the things' appearance was too much of a challenge to her aesthetic bottom line.

Those "Chaos Spawns" seemed to have discovered them as well. They let out a series of nonsensical but extremely uncomfortable hissing sounds, twisted, and pounced over, with corrosive mucus dripping from their tentacles.

"Tsk, being ugly isn't your fault, but coming out to scare people is your wrong."

Nightmare couldn't even be bothered to make a move. With a thought, his Annihilation Domain expanded slightly.

As soon as those spawns rushed into the Domain range, they were like snowmen falling into a steel furnace. They didn't even have time to scream before their twisted bodies instantly stiffened. Then, starting from their tentacles, they quickly turned gray and withered, finally turning into fly ash with a "poof," leaving only a few dim Chaos crystals falling into the Void Realm.

"Vulnerable." Nightmare curled his lip. Using his power to scoop up those few crystals to take a look, the energy inside was quite mixed, but the nirvana dao seed wasn't a picky eater; it could barely pass as a snack.

He casually absorbed that bit of Chaos energy, and the system's "Environmental Adaptation" module quietly recorded the characteristics of this energy.

Having resolved this small interlude, the two continued forward. Next, they encountered a few more waves of similar "Chaos Spawns." Some were floating tumor-like shapes, others were shadow clusters that could turn invisible to ambush, but all were casually handled by Nightmare.

He found that the creatures in this place seemed to have no intelligence at all, acting entirely on instinct, and their forms were bizarre, fully embodying the essence of the word "Chaos."

As they flew, a huge Void dust belt, like a gray curtain, appeared ahead, blocking their path. The system's scan showed that there seemed to be a relatively strong energy reaction behind this dust belt.

"Go around or pass through?" Su Wanqing asked.

"Pass through and see." Nightmare was bold due to his high skill level; protected by his Annihilation Domain, he charged directly into the dust belt.

The visibility inside was extremely low, and his Divine Sense was also quite disturbed. Not long after flying in, the system suddenly issued a warning!

[Warning! High-energy reaction detected approaching rapidly! Energy attribute: chaotic, twisted, possesses strong spiritual attack traits! Target count: 1! Energy Rank: Dao Integration Initial Stage!]

No sooner had the voice fallen than the dust in front suddenly parted to the sides, and a behemoth revealed its form!

It was a... how to put it? It was a huge lump of flesh that seemed to be forcibly fused together from countless painfully wailing human Faces and twisted limbs! A crack split open in the center of the lump of flesh; inside was not a mouth, but a constantly rotating vortex emitting a colorful black light! A strange spiritual fluctuation that made people dizzy and agitated was violently emanating from that vortex!

"Roar—!"

The lump of flesh let out a shrill scream that struck directly at the Soul; the spiritual attack surged over like a tsunami! At the same time, those human Faces and limbs on its body danced crazily, shooting out countless black rays carrying curses and polluting energy!

"Yo, a slightly decent one has arrived." Nightmare raised an eyebrow. This spiritual attack was somewhat interesting; if it were someone else, they would probably suffer a big loss.

But what Rank was his Annihilation Domain? This bit of spiritual pollution didn't even count as an itch. Once the Annihilation Domain opened, all spiritual attacks and energy rays entered the Domain and were like stones sinking into the sea, not even bubbling up.

The lump of flesh monster seemed to be stunned for a moment; it probably hadn't seen someone give so little Face before.

Nightmare couldn't be bothered to tangle with this ugly thing any longer; it was a good time to test a new idea. He recalled some knowledge in the primal cube about "information disturbance" and the underlying logic of rules, and the system instantly completed the deduction and simulation.

He looked at the lump of flesh and said one word. The voice wasn't loud, but it carried a strange charm that seemed to be able to induce resonance with the Law:

"Disperse."

Law Follows the Word!

It wasn't relying on brute force, but rather the system simulating an "order command" targeting the chaotic core of this lump of flesh monster, using a power nearly at the level of the Law to act directly on its Origin, which had fused countless chaotic consciousnesses!

The lump of flesh monster stiffened abruptly; those wailing human Faces on its body instantly froze, and the dancing limbs also stopped. The rotating colorful black hole vortex in its center seemed to jam; its rotation speed plummeted, and then... it began to rotate in reverse!

"Poof—"

As if a balloon had been punctured, the huge lump of flesh collapsed inward violently, and all the chaotic energy and consciousness conflicted and annihilated each other under the "order" command! In just two or three seconds, such a huge Hedao Stage level monster dissipated silently, leaving only a slightly larger, deeper-colored Chaos crystal in its place.

"Done." Nightmare nodded with satisfaction. This "Law Follows the Word" move had a high enough style, and the consumption was lower than fighting hard, making it suitable for cleaning up small fry.

Su Wanqing watched from the side, her beautiful eyes shimmering with brilliance. Senior Brother's methods were truly becoming increasingly unfathomable.

Putting away that large snack, Nightmare had the system scan ahead; the dust belt was almost at its end.

"Let's go, let's see what good things are hidden behind."

The two accelerated and soon rushed out of the dust belt.

The scene before them stunned them both at the same time.

Behind the dust belt was not some dangerous place or monster nest as expected, but a... relatively calm Void Realm. Floating in the Void Realm were several huge, obviously man-made platform wrecks. On one of the largest platforms, one could vaguely see the outlines of some buildings, the style was extremely ancient, and there were even some broken Formation lights flickering weakly.

More importantly, the system captured that deep within that platform, there seemed to be... weak energy fluctuations belonging to normal intelligent beings?

This Chaos Frontier actually had "local residents"?
