Star Voyage, you blind fool!
The hustle and bustle of Thousand Streams Star Port were left far behind. Nightmare piloted an unassuming, greyish-black shuttle-shaped flying boat, slipping silently into the deep starry sky.
He had crafted this flying boat using scraps after using a rule fragment to analyze the structures of several common flying boats in the star port. Its speed was decent and its defense average, but it excelled in having extremely low energy fluctuations and was integrated with stealth runes from a rule fragment, making it perfect for low-profile travel.
The interior of the flying boat had been expanded and was simply furnished. Nightmare sat cross-legged at the main control station, a rule fragment hovering before him as he continuously analyzed the Jade Slip information provided by Angelica regarding the Void Swamp and constantly calibrated their course.
Su Wanqing was quietly Cultivating nearby, consolidating her Peak Spirit Transformation cultivation.
According to the records in the Jade Slip, the Chaotic Star Sea was located in the crevice between the Myriad Laws Star Domain and the Chaos Frontier. It was a zone where the aftershocks of Law collisions occurred, with fragile spatial structures, perpetually filled with energy storms, broken stellar remains, and distorted gravitational fields.
The Void Swamp was even more dangerous, a region known for its extremely unstable space and the frequent breeding of various bizarre Void Realm creatures.
The journey was long and dull. Under the precise control of a rule fragment, the flying boat darted like a nimble fish, weaving through shipping lanes filled with meteorites and small nebula fragments, avoiding obvious energy turbulence and spatial folds.
Several days later, the flying boat had moved far away from the relatively safe outskirts of the Zi Xuan Star Domain, and the surrounding starry sky began to become "chaotic."
The color of the starlight became strange, sometimes scarlet like blood, other times ghostly blue like will-o'-the-wisps.
In the distance, one could occasionally see huge, slowly rotating energy vortices, like scars in the starry sky, emitting an unsettling suction force.
Some broken land fragments and the remains of huge creatures floated among them, telling of the danger of this place.
"Senior Brother, the Spiritual Qi here is so violent." Su Wanqing finished Cultivating, frowning as she sensed the outside.
The Nine Aperture Exquisite Body was extremely sensitive to energy changes. The Spiritual Qi here was not only violent but also mixed with many fragments of negative emotions and chaotic thoughts, requiring extra caution when absorbing it.
"Mm, the Chaotic Star Sea lives up to its name." Nightmare used a rule fragment to sweep across a colorful nebula ahead that emitted corrosive energy. "Stay close to me. Do not carelessly extend your Divine Sense; it easily attracts unnecessary trouble."
Just as he finished speaking, the rule fragment sent a warning.
[Warning! Detected three unidentified high-speed warships approaching! Their course has clear interception intent! Energy characteristics: mixed, with malicious markers. Assessment: 87% probability of Star Sea pirates.]
Sure enough, in this lawless place, trouble always finds its way to you.
From the side and rear, three menacing black warships, shaped like oversized deep-sea monster fish, were spraying tail flames formed from crude energy fuel, closing in from a triangular formation.
Skulls and crossbones were graffitied on their hulls, and the muzzles at their bows were already glowing with charging energy.
A rude mental fluctuation swept arrogantly across Nightmare's flying boat: "You piece of junk up front! Stop for me! Hand over the flying boat and all your valuables. The man can get lost, but the woman stays! Otherwise, we'll blast you into slag!"
The voice was filled with unbridled greed and violence.
Su Wanqing's face turned cold, and a flash of anger crossed her eyes.
Nightmare, however, couldn't even be bothered to lift his eyelids. A rule fragment instantly completed a scan of the three pirate ships.
[Target analysis: Modified 'Raider Grade III' pirate ship (old). Energy Rank: Equivalent to Peak Spirit Transformation (main cannon). Defense: Low. Crew: About 15-20 people per ship, with the highest cultivation being Nascent Soul, and the rest being Golden Core or Foundation Establishment. Threat Level: Extremely low.]
"Truly... courting death." Nightmare muttered, not even having the interest to take action himself.
He simply raised his hand, and toward the void, gave a gentle grip.
There was no light, no sound.
But those three pirate ships charging over aggressively suddenly shook violently, as if they had collided with an invisible, absolutely hard wall!
Crack! Boom!
The teeth-grinding sound of metal twisting and the sound of explosions rang out almost simultaneously!
The thrusters of the three pirate ships instantly cut out, and the hull structures severely deformed and tore under the massive inertia! The main cannons at the bows, which were half-charged, detonated directly, turning into three huge fireballs that swallowed the shipwrecks and the pirates inside!
In just one encounter, the three pirate ships, along with the dozens of pirates on board, without even seeing the enemy's face, turned into brilliant (for them, desperate) fireworks in this silent starry sky, leaving only some burning fragments drifting slowly away.
Nightmare withdrew his hand, as if he had just dusted off some dirt. A rule fragment rolled back a few relatively intact pirate ship core fragments with energy reactions, which counted as better than nothing for spoils.
"Cleaned up." He said indifferently to Su Wanqing, maneuvering the flying boat without slowing down, continuing to head into the depths of the Chaotic Star Sea, not even taking a second glance at the cooling space debris.
Su Wanqing watched her Senior Brother's methods of obliterating the enemy so nonchalantly, and her sense of security grew stronger. In this dangerous Star Sea, with her Senior Brother around, she had nothing to fear.
During the rest of the journey, they encountered a few more waves of similar blind fools. There were those driving dilapidated mechs attempting to rob them, those setting traps disguised as distress signals, and even a group of Void Realm creatures, eroded by Chaos energy and having lost their reason, instinctively pouncing on them.
But without exception, all these troubles were silently obliterated by the Annihilation Domain guided by a rule fragment after getting within a certain range of Nightmare's flying boat, failing to form even a decent resistance. Nightmare didn't even bother to stop the flying boat.
Gradually, perhaps because some secret information channels began to circulate, or perhaps because the survivors who were lucky enough to witness the "firework show" spread the news that "an inconspicuous greyish-black flying boat must not be provoked," the subsequent journey became much quieter. Some Auras that had originally been peeking from a distance and eager to try their luck quietly retracted, not daring to approach again.
Nightmare was glad for the quiet, and a rule fragment worked at full power to deduce the possible spatial Laws and dangerous nodes of the Void Swamp.
After a few more days, the scene ahead of the flying boat changed again.
A boundless region, seemingly pieced together from countless broken mirrors and emitting a hazy silver-grey light, appeared at the end of the starry sky. There were no obvious stars there, only spatial structures that were constantly twisting, folding, breaking, and recombining, like a huge and unstable bubble.
Occasionally, one could see some bizarre, translucent Void Realm creatures swimming on the edge of that region, emitting silent screeches.
One of the iconic dangerous places of the Chaotic Star Sea—the Void Swamp—had arrived.
Nightmare stopped the flying boat, and a rule fragment carefully scanned the bizarre region ahead. Even with his current strength and understanding of spatial Laws, he could still feel the eeriness and danger contained within that region.
"rule fragment, conduct a comprehensive scan of the periphery of the Void Swamp, establish a spatial model, find a relatively stable entry path, and detect the energy characteristics of where a 'void lotus seed' might exist."
[Command confirmed. Starting comprehensive scan... Warning! Detected high-intensity spatial interference! Scanning precision dropped by 40%!]
[Detected multiple unknown spatial traps and hidden rifts... Detected faint void lotus energy residue (Direction: Southeast quadrant, depth approximately three standard star miles)...]
[Established preliminary spatial model... Found three potential paths, stability assessment: Low, Extremely Low, Unknown (requires further exploration).]
It was truly not that simple. Nightmare looked at the information fed back by the rule fragment, his gaze cast toward the silver-grey region that looked like a monster's giant maw.
The void lotus seed was inside.
Next would be a challenge of treasure hunting in shattered space.
