1: Chapter 1 Indifference in People's Hearts

Parallel world, Blue Star, Huaxia, Sanjin region.

"You find a way, I don't have a single cent."

"This is life-saving money that concerns your own mother's survival!"

"I don't have any. Go ask your classmates to borrow some."

"Is money more important than your mother's life?"

Yang Fan looked at his aunt in front of him, unable to believe these words came from a daughter.

Yang Fan is 23 years old, just graduated from university, and is currently at the hospital.

His parents divorced when Yang Fan was very young, and his father has congenital intellectual disabilities, unable to think like a normal person.

He grew up by his grandparents' side.

The reason he was at the hospital was that his grandmother was seriously ill. Yang Fan, who was working outside, received his grandmother's call and immediately called his aunt, asking her to take his grandmother to the hospital first.

He just didn't expect that when Yang Fan arrived at the hospital, the mother and daughter were still sitting in the hospital lobby.

The reason was actually that they were waiting for him to pay the fees!

Yang Fan was so angry he laughed.

Hearing her daughter's words, the old lady burst into tears.

With the intense emotional fluctuation, her condition worsened, and she could no longer speak, only able to clutch Yang Fan's clothes.

Seeing this situation, Yang Fan's aunt hurriedly said: "You take care of her, my restaurant is getting busy, I'm going back."

Yang Fan didn't have time to be angry; he quickly borrowed a wheelchair from the information desk and sent his grandmother to the emergency room.

An hour later.

Grandmother finally woke up, but tears were still streaming down her face.

Yang Fan reached out and wiped away his grandmother's tears.

"Let's cut ties with your aunt's family from now on. That daughter is of no use to you anyway."

"It's fine, I have money! We just need to stay in the hospital!"

Grandmother nodded while crying. She knew her grandson had no money; his tuition fees were all earned by himself working, plus scholarships, which is how he finished university.

Her illness had already burdened her grandson quite a bit, and the old lady didn't want to drag her grandson down anymore.

If she hadn't wanted to see her grandson get married and have children, she probably wouldn't have held on for this long.

"Let's go home, go home..."

The old lady could feel that she didn't have much time left, and she didn't want to be in the hospital; she missed home.

If she stayed in the hospital, she could live a little longer, as the hospital did have some means to prolong life.

Hearing his grandmother's murmurs, Yang Fan also shed two lines of tears.

He wanted his grandmother to stay in the hospital for treatment, but the old lady absolutely refused.

Finally, looking at his grandmother's state, Yang Fan wiped his tears and had no choice but to go home first.

Yang Fan didn't have that much money for surgery, and the old lady was so old that the risk of surgery was very high; she might not even make it off the operating table.

Back home, Yang Fan looked at his bank balance; he had spent 3800 during the emergency visit, and now only 825 yuan was left.

He sighed. If he really had to stay in the hospital, he would only be able to ask his sister for help, but he also knew his sister's family only had her husband working, and they had two children; their financial situation wasn't good either.

He clenched his fists, hating himself for being so incompetent.

Yang Fan touched his waist and started searching online.

He still needed to let his grandmother stay in the hospital for a period of time; at least every time she returned from the hospital, she would be better for a while.

Early the next morning, Yang Fan came to the city.

This was a cafe not far from the hospital.

The person Yang Fan had arranged to meet had already arrived.

The man was wearing a suit and tie, dressed like a salesperson.

"Young man, are you the one selling something?"

"There haven't been any new fruits or phones released recently. Did you run out of money to buy gifts for your girlfriend?"

The man sat down and asked curiously.

While asking, he even took out his phone to take pictures of Yang Fan.

After all, Yang Fan was 180cm tall, with distinct facial contours, healthy skin, and while his features weren't unique on their own, combined together, he was a very handsome man who was easy on the eyes.

With his photo, the value might be even higher.

"Tell me exactly how much money."

Yang Fan didn't waste any words and got straight to the point.

"Oh? Since you're in such a hurry, I'll get straight to the point: 20, what do you think?"

Yang Fan didn't say a word, stood up, and left. This merchant's heart was too black.

Although he had just graduated from university, he clearly didn't have that kind of "clear-eyed stupidity."

Having been the head of the household since he was young, he had been deceived many times.

The man in front of him was ripping him off way too hard, so Yang Fan prepared to find someone else.

"Sigh, sigh."

"Young man, don't be so hot-headed. Business is all about give and take."

The man hurriedly pulled Yang Fan back.

"Get to the point. I don't have much patience."

Yang Fan was still feeling quite irritable inside.

He hadn't expected family affection to be so indifferent. This was a daughter raised from childhood. If she were an adopted daughter, Yang Fan wouldn't be this angry.

Human relationships were cold to this extent; he wouldn't even mention distant relatives, but even a daughter could be like this.

"Looking at you, you must have checked the general price, right?"

"30, what do you think? This is already the highest price in the city."

The man in the suit stated his price directly.

Yang Fan thought for a moment.

"40."

"31, that's the most."

"39."

"33, I can't go any higher."

"Fine."

Yang Fan felt it could probably be higher, but he felt it wasn't necessary; getting the money to send his grandmother to the hospital was the urgent matter.

After settling the price, he took Yang Fan directly to the hospital for a physical examination and tests.

But Yang Fan sat alone on the bench holding the test results.

The man in the suit had already left.

Looking at the final result.

[Kidney failure.]

Yang Fan tossed the test results aside, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. It really is true that a frayed rope always breaks at the thinnest point, and misfortune always picks on the miserable.

The doctor said it was caused by long-term exhaustion at night.

In fact, it was caused by Yang Fan insisting on working at a logistics company at night to make money.

At this moment, a call came through.

Yang Fan looked at the caller ID and gave a bitter smile.

"I have some bad news to tell you."

"I also have some bad news to tell you."

Xu Jing's words came from the other side.

"Then you go first."

"I found a great job in Magic City. Let's break up. The gap between us will only grow, and if you stay in a small city, we'll be people from two different worlds."

Yang Fan was silent for a long while, then replied with one word.

"Okay."

Without any extra words, he hung up the phone directly.

He didn't want to drag her down in his current state; he had originally intended to break up with her anyway.

Yang Fan punched the wall, wondering why his body was so incompetent.

"Hiss..."

Yang Fan felt like something had shattered, and immediately he arrived in a huge space. The air in the space was refreshing, and the flowers and grass in the space were very neat, as if someone often took care of them.

A mechanical prompt sounded in his ear.

[Space-Time Exchange bound, you have activated Space-Time trading privileges.]

[Welcome back, beta tester.]

[Your ID is 3.]

[You are absolutely safe within the trading space and cannot be harmed.]

Yang Fan opened his mouth in surprise. Although he hadn't read many novels, he had heard of systems; it was basically a cheat code.

He looked at his right hand in surprise; the ring his father had given him was gone. Coupled with the pain just now, he vaguely had a guess.

[Starting to match the first trading target.]

[Match successful.]

[Target ID 10086.]

At this moment, a middle-aged man wearing a dragon robe appeared opposite Yang Fan, though there was worry between his brows.

"Huh? It's been so long, someone has finally come to this trading space!"

"Young man, are you my trading partner?"
