49: Chapter 49 A piece of calligraphy for a ten-year CEO
Tang Xue stepped forward and said,
"Officer, these men broke in with knives intent on murder."
"The long blades belong to them; the combat knife is mine."
"Why do you have a combat knife?"
Liu Bing asked.
Tang Xue was also starting to feel a bit angry.
"My Superior Officer gave me special permission when I was discharged. Should I have him report to you?"
Tang Xue hadn't expected these people to be exactly as Yang Fan described. If they weren't completely incapacitated, they would either be bailed out or continue to bully ordinary people just as before once released.
These officers were so incompetent, barking orders at the victim.
No wonder Yang Fan wanted to take them down personally.
Liu Bing was at a loss for words after being rebuffed. She had mentioned military leadership; what right did he have to ask them to come and report?
If he pushed it, his superior would probably reassign him to scrubbing toilets.
"You're the homeowner, right? Come to the station with me to give a statement."
Liu Bing pointed at Yang Fan.
"No need. I'll go. I'm the one who took them down."
Tang Xue stood up.
"Boss, should I call Rose over?"
"No need, I have Bodyguards in the shadows."
Yang Fan took out his phone and called Ye Qingcheng.
"Find me a legal team in Magic City. I want the best."
"What for?"
"A few men broke in with knives to kill me. Tang Xue took them out."
Ye Qingcheng was silent for a moment.
"Understood."
She hung up immediately after speaking.
Liu Bing didn't dare to speak recklessly now. After all, they were calling for a legal team, and this guy seemed quite formidable.
Anyone who could hire a veteran who was allowed to keep their original weapon as a Bodyguard was someone to be reckoned with.
He could only obediently take Tang Xue to the station for a statement.
However, before the ambulance had even arrived or the suspects were taken away...
Liu Bing's phone rang.
"Don't bring them back. Just take a simple statement there. Don't trouble them further with this."
"Isn't that against regulations?"
"The Police Director said it himself. Why don't you come back and explain the regulations to him?"
The tone on the other end became noticeably sharper. The caller hung up after speaking; he had just been severely reprimanded himself, yet he didn't even know what was going on.
Liu Bing swallowed hard. He didn't know what connections this young man had, but for the Police Director to personally intervene...
Those thugs were likely in for a rough time.
They took a brief statement from Tang Xue, and the ambulance carried the men away.
Ye Qingcheng called back directly.
"This has nothing to do with Tian Zian. It was that Qin Fan who hired the men. You're studying in Magic City, so you should have heard of him."
Yang Fan understood. No wonder the officer had wrapped things up so hastily; Tian Zian's Father probably didn't want to provoke Yang Fan.
After all, no one who reached that position was a fool. Ye Qingcheng had called and explicitly stated that Yang Fan's trouble was related to his son.
He immediately became alert. If someone the Ye family repeatedly investigated remained a mystery, yet they were so willing to help him, wouldn't crossing him be a death wish?
He immediately called Tian Zian to get the full story.
"Yeah, I got it. As long as Tian Zian doesn't cause me any more trouble, I won't bother with him."
"Fine, I'm hanging up. I've practically become your secretary."
Ye Qingcheng hung up.
Tang Xue also came up and asked,
"You contacted Ye Qingcheng?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Is it really necessary to trouble her over such a small matter?"
Tang Xue was speechless. Didn't this guy know that asking for help meant owing a favor?
Hiring a top-tier legal team was like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.
"Her Father is the Mayor of Magic City. Isn't it convenient to ask her?"
"If I have resources and don't use them, wouldn't I be an idiot?"
Yang Fan didn't care. If he owed a favor, so be it. How else would the two sides deepen their relationship?
If you're afraid of owing favors, are you just going to wait for others to offer help?
Tang Xue sighed. This man probably didn't realize how valuable a favor from a young lady of a capital city family was.
"I'll call some people to clean up the bloodstains."
Yang Fan nodded and took Li Anlan to show her the rooms.
"I just saw your Father. He said he wants to see you. Do you want to go back?"
"I'm not going back. It's very nice here—the food is great, I sleep well, and I can see so many things on the phone every day."
"Sister Jiang Lan is also very kind to me. She teaches me a lot every day and isn't jealous of me at all!"
Li Anlan shook her head. Since she was married out, she was naturally part of Yang Fan's family now. How could she go back every few days?
Besides, this place was too wonderful. Aside from having to wash herself, everything else was perfect.
Yang Fan smiled. Emperor Taizong of Tang would be fuming if he heard that.
Yang Fan lay on the bed and began to think. It seemed he couldn't just buy things as needed anymore; the water situation on Jiang Lan's side still wasn't resolved.
He needed to set up an investment company to invest in some food companies, grain importers, and water suppliers.
After all, the Apocalypse world seemed to lack water, the "bright sword" world lacked food and ammunition, and Emperor Taizong of Tang wasn't lacking for anything at the moment.
He quickly thought of someone: Ye Qingcheng. Didn't she start some cosmetics company?
It didn't make much money; in a year, it didn't even earn as much as the price of a single piece of calligraphy. He might as well just find a random CEO for her.
Thinking this, he called her directly.
"Let's get one thing straight first: you're out of favors with me!"
Ye Qingcheng wanted to shut Yang Fan up the moment she answered.
This guy really treated her like a secretary, calling her for everything. If he weren't so mysterious, she would have ignored him long ago.
"Fire your CEO or whatever, find a new one, and come work for me."
Ye Qingcheng was speechless.
"Have you been drinking? Do you know how much my company makes in a year?"
"I sell a single painting for 1.5 billion."
Yang Fan's single sentence left Ye Qingcheng even more silent.
That 1.5 billion would indeed take her about eight years to earn, and even then, it wasn't certain—who could predict the market?
"What kind of company do you plan to start?"
"An investment company."
"How much do you plan to invest?"
Yang Fan thought for a moment. He didn't have much money now, but he could sell things, and later he could even sell arms.
"Let's start with 10 billion."
Ye Qingcheng let out a long breath. This was infuriating.
He could casually pull out 10 billion and was starting an investment firm, proving he wasn't short on cash at all.
"Fine. Then shouldn't you offer me a reasonable salary?"
"Hiring a new CEO will cost money too!"
Ye Qingcheng also wanted to be closer to Yang Fan to see where his secrets lay.
She believed her family would support her.
"I'll give you an annual salary of 100 million. As for your CEO, that's not my concern."
Yang Fan didn't have much of a concept of money now. Having resources from three other worlds, the thing he lacked least was money.
Besides, it wasn't that much. One piece of Wang Xizhi's calligraphy could cover ten years of her salary.
"Fine, I'll take it. I'll come over in a few days."
Ye Qingcheng had vice presidents at her company who could hold the fort while she found a new CEO.
Besides, if she was the President, couldn't she invest in her own company?
