Chapter 150: I’ll Follow Anyway

A few minutes passed as Rion helped Dora move her fur bed in his hut, and she kept complaining about putting it too far, which was actually just a few steps away from his."For fuck’s sake..." Rion cursed under his breath, glared at her with a deadpan expression and retorted, "What would be the point of different beds if you are to complain about it not being right beside mine?"

Dora’s mouth fell open at his retaliation.

She pulled her lips into a mad pout, turned her head away from him and slumped down on her fur bed.

He watched her with raised an eyebrow and commented, "Stop acting like a child..."

"You’re younger than me!" She shot back, pouted and looked away.

Rion shook his head, walked over to his bed and sat down.

All of the other sounds faded, leaving only their steady breathing.

A few minutes passed in quite calm, and Dora spoke softly, "What are you going to do after all of this is over?"

Rion turned his head towards her, his eyes met hers as she was already looking at him, and he answered, "I want to see the world beyond the mountains."

Dora let out a faint chuckle and commented, "I knew that much... I meant to ask what you want to achieve after that? Are you just going to wander around without a fixed goal?"

Rion chuckled.

A few moments later, he shook his head. "Of course not, I have a goal in mind."

She placed her head on her hand with her elbow on the bed and asked with a thin smile, "What is it?"

His lips arched upwards by themselves upon seeing the smile tugging at her lips, and he said, "Father told me that there are carvings, motifs and stories of Dhaevrak out there..."

A serious glint flickered across his eyes, and he added, "I want to see those motifs, and I want to hear those stories."

"Oh? I didn’t know that," she commented, her smile turned mischievous. "Won’t you need me to find them? I am the one and only descendant of God of Travel, after all."

Contrary to her expectation, his expression hardened, and he said quietly, "The outside world might be dangerous for you..."

She frowned and scoffed, "You are already worrying about that? Heh. I like the dumber you more."

Rion gave her a wry smile and lay back in his bed.

Silence stretched between them for a few minutes until Dora’s voice broke it.

"You still haven’t asked me about going with you... Are you planning on leaving me here in the mountains?"

Rion turned on his bed to look at her and spoke in a puzzled tone, "I need to ask?"

Sensing the hidden confidence behind his words, she chuckled and said, "Nope. But if you won’t take me with you, I will still follow behind."

They burst into laughter, and Dora whispered, "Good night."

"So early?" He asked with a frown while being aware that the calm moon was already looming in the sky.

Dora forced herself to tear her gaze away from him and stated, "Tomorrow is the day of the feast, you dummy."

’Ah... I forgot about that for a moment...’ he thought and said, "Good night."

"Mhm."

He reluctantly shifted his gaze away from her and allowed today’s tiredness to hit him.

Just a moment later, he was in the embrace of sleep.

Dora sneakily raised her head, she looked at him and commented with a baffled expression, "How does he fall asleep so fast without getting tired at all...?"

She stared at him for a few moments before she slumped down in her bed.

Her expression suddenly turned sour, took out the dragon’s fang that she had obtained from Granny Nena on that fateful day.

Her lips quivered as they parted, and she whispered the exact words that Granny Nena had said to her, "You have heard a damned prophecy... a divine revelation that only the chosen few are allowed to hear, but if an unworthy hears it, they pay for their blasphemous act by dying at the age of twenty..."

Tears that she had believed to no longer have streamed down her face, and she gripped the dragon’s fang tightly before forcing herself to sleep.

The night passed, and Rion’s eyelids trembled as he felt something wet touch his cheeks.

He slowly opened his eyes, and his gaze fell on Dora, who was wiping off her lips.

Seeing that he was awake, her cheeks reddened slightly, and she mumbled with a smile, "Good morning."

Rion touched his left cheek before replying with a faint smile, "Good morning..."

He left out a yawn and rubbed his face before sitting up.

"You should get ready for the feast," she suggested, and he nodded in a slight daze.

She quickly picked up the white cloth that he wrapped around his waist and added, "It’s got a tear here, I’ll get it fixed. Bye," before dashing out of the hut.

Rion blinked while rubbing the sleep off his eyes and muttered, "It has no tear, though..."

Right then, a familiar voice reached him, "Was that Dora? What was she doing at Rion’s hut so early in the morning...?"

Hearing that voice, Rion lowered his head in defeat and groaned, "What great timing..."

The door to his hut creaked open, and Lara walked inside with an amused expression.

Her lips parted to tease him, but before she could say anything, Rion pointed at Dora’s bed and said, "There."

She followed his finger, and her gaze fell on Dora’s bed.

She stared for a moment, turned to him and muttered in a baffled tone, "I had thought that she had come to meet you in the morning... but she actually slept in your hut?"

"Huh?" A dumbfounded look appeared on his face.

Seeing that, a mischievous glint flickered in her eyes, and she asked, "When did the two of you start to live together like a husband and wife?"
