Seeing the figure remove it’s hood, Kyle had expected a different individual or being. But never in his wildest thoughts did he expect it to change into Lucifer

It said face your fears, this must be the first trial it was talking about. Since becoming a demon he wasn’t scared of most stuff anymore. But all that changed when he met face to face with the demon king and lost everything.

The system notification pulled him from his thoughts making a smile spread across his face. Feeling the system active. And the wounds he sustained along with the fatigue all vanishing.

[What happened?] Snow softly asked.

Long story, we got bigger problems. Kyle inwardly spoke staring ahead at the demon king.

With a weird grin the mimic shot out fast reaching Kyle in the blink of an eye. Swinging it’s deadly black scythe at his chest.

Moving his hand fast Kyle parried the incoming scythe, sending him skidding back some few meters.

It’s stronger than those two. Kyle grunted feeling the sheer power used by the mimics. He knew this wasn’t the real lucifer, so this wasn’t the latter’s real strength or speed but the mimic’s. But still it didn’t change the fact the mimic copied Lucifer’s identity.



I have to be careful, I still don’t know what else he can do. Ever since vaanderwood Kyle had always dreamt of defeating Lucifer and regaining his women. But unfortunately, those were just dreams and not reality.

He’d also greatly improved statistically and intellectually. But still, he was nowhere compared to the lowest ranked demon. Not to mention the demon king himself.

Running forward the two exchanged strikes clashing against each other. Sparks of flames flying everywhere as his katana and the scythe clashed.

Swinging his katana Kyle had a bit of flexibility advantage aiming for the mimic head. But before the hit connected dark shadows enveloped him, sinking to the ground.

Shadow walk? Kyle slightly gasped seeing the mimic turn into shadows moving forward in the ground.

On instinct Kyle lept back a bit avoiding the shadows. Cause the next moment several black spikes erupted from where kyle stood.

It’s much faster than me in that form. Kyle frowned still running glancing back at the shadow. He’d tried to manuever it but the shadow was fast and smart predicting his movement before he made them.

Bam! He propelled himself in the air landing on a pillar.

That should buy- his words got stuck in his throat seeing the shadow leap up heights it shouldn’t have. Defying the laws of physics.

Stretching his hand he activated dark flames firfing a jetski of dark flames at the shadow. The flames connected to it but it wasn’t the outcome he expected.

It isn’t hurting it? Shadows were weak to high elemental damages and dark flames was literally his go to option. Having flames buff added with demon energy. And with it currently being at lv2 he expected somewhat damage dealt.

[I-it’s absorbing it.] Snow stuttered with a shocked tone making Kyle’s face go pale. As this was the first time he’d seen a being absorb his dark flames.

Boom!

It repelled the flames at Kyle the next moment, forcing him to leap off the pillar.

But the shadow wasn’t done.orphing into a menacing griffin it blasted out a dark flames ball from it’s mouth. Dodging to the side Kyle’s mind raced fast on what to do.

His parents were now back to normal but still standing there like mindless zombies. Almost as in some kind of trance.

[Kyle watch out!] Snow yelled but it was too late.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Several bang sounds erupted in front with the protrusion of multiple black spikes. Pressing his foot to the ground he attempted to stop but a jetski of dark flames shot at him.

With no choice he twisted his body lightning fast. Throwing out a small black ball hitting the Griffen spot on. Entering it’s mouth which was still wide open.

Mhm. Kyle blocked the jetski of dark flames with the katana. Reducing the flames effects a bit. But lost control of his body crashing in to the black spikes.

Argh! He screamed in pain feeling his entire body immediately go numb. Some of the black spikes entering into his system through his veins which were now black.

[User has been infected!]

[Deploying counter measures..]

[Error! Unknown poison detected!]

[Ho will deplete by ten every second.]

Various system notifications flashed before Kyle’s eye. He couldn’t keep up with them though, feeling his life draining rapidly.

[No! There has to be a way dammit! If I could stop the heart for a few seconds I could flush out the toxins from his vessels.]

[Yes.. that would work.] Snow mumbled telepathically shutting down both his hearts. Working fast she attempted flushing out the toxins with his cells. But unfortunately, the venom had already eaten too deep into both his heart.



Today’s a good day to die. Kyle joked. He could see the Griffen was pinned to the ground by the black chains. He didn’t know how or why, but thankfully it subdued the creature.

[Idiot! You’re not the only one dying ya know.] Snow angrily retorded making Kyle grin more.

You know.. i-if I get reincarnated I’d choose to have you as one of my women. Kyle stuttered, his lips struggling to move along with his elelids closing.

Just when everything seemed bleak two items pierced both his hearts.

Kyle was sent skidding back but didn’t have time to rest seeing a katana descending on him.

It’s like they copiedy fighting style. Kyle grunted prancing the katana and throwing out a fist.

He was faster than them but they were twice the trouble. Equipped with the exact frozen katana Kyle held pulsing with power. Each swing he made was deflected by a mimic, followed up with another attack from the second.

No matter how hard he fought his hits were always countered by the mimics. And with zero demon energy and no skills to use he was outnumbered.

Gritting his teeth he spat out fresh blood holding his gut in pain. He’d tried looking for a weakness he could exploit. But there seemed to be none so far he found.

And having little experience on mimics and how to fight them. He definitely struggled without the guidance of snow.

I have to end this fast or am screwed. He’d been running on adrenaline ever since. With the thought of his parents driving him on.

But he wasn’t still immune to fatigue and had to rest and recover his stamina.

Weird.. they don’t do anything if I don’t initiate. Looking at the mimics he could see them just standing there. Not attacking him when this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Except if he made the first move, which they then followed. Copying his movements like a prediction.

Raising his left hand the mimics also followed suit. Raising their left hand with the katana clutched tightly and that’s when he saw it.

Is that.. shadows? He could clearly distinguish dark energy and shadows. And that right there wasn’t a hand. But a shadow hand.

Of course that explains everything. Their shadow clones. His eyes widened seeing these mimics were infact clones made from shadows.

Then that must mean there’s another being here with shadow ability? His face went pale at the thought of that. As not only were shadows hard to deal with they were also unpredictable.

Wait.. if their shadow clones then that must mean their resistance to elemental damages are low. Remembering when using the shadow walk skill it was mostly hindered by elemental damages.

With a sly grin he finally had a weakness to exploit.

Bam!

He shot out like a rocket the two clones following suit matching up with his speed.

Reaching the clones he didn’t outright swing the katana like usual but threw out a fist.

And like expected the clones also copied his movements. Tilting his head he dodged the attack same with the clones.

With lightening fast reflexes he plunged the katana forward to a clone. Directly stabbing it in the guts.



The two clones also reacted plunging the katanas into Kyle’s gut.

Ignoring the message he gritted his teeth bringing out a katana and stabbing the second clone. Immediately it connected the shadow clones let out a loud screech. Ice building up from their legs upwards. Turning them into ice statues.

Ha.. panting Kyle huffed in large amounts of air. His plan was simple use the ice buff from the refined frozen katana on one clone. Thereby weakening the other just enough to land the final blow.

Well well well.. you never cease to surprise me boy. The original nodded figure from earlier clapped. Stepping out from the shadows in front of Kyle.

Coward! I never thought you’d be chicken and hide behind your clones. Kyle retoreded clenching his gut.

Haha! Good one from someone who couldn’t protect his parents. Shaking his head a bit the figure snapped his fingers. And like magic the liquid black goo materialized into figures. Forming xia and Ron’s body.

That’s the reward for defeating my weaker clones. They’ve been quite a bit of trouble for the past 100 years now. He said making Kyle raise a brow not uttering a word.

Removing it’s cloak Kyle’s face turned pale seeing who was behind the hood.

Impossible. He stuttered staring at none other than Lucifer in front.

Time to face your fears boy! Lucifer smiled a dark scythe appearing in his hand.
