100: Chapter 100 The True Force Field - Inner World
It was the same way of thinking, the same angle of observation, the same cognitive framework.
Only by leaping out of one's own thinking.
Using a perspective that did not belong to Chen Mo at all, to look at "Chen Mo" anew.
Utilizing others' thoughts, others' frameworks, and the ways others viewed the world, to break his own cognitive inertia.
Chen Mo arrived at the Xia Kingdom National Library.
The main reading room had a towering dome; afternoon sunlight slanted down from the skylights, carving quiet streaks of light onto the dark wooden surfaces of the bookshelves.
The few readers present were hunched over their desks, the sound of page-turning extremely faint.
Chen Mo chose a seat in a corner and sat down. Then, his Mental Power sank into the texts.
He was not reading them book by book.
He was using his Mental Power perception, like a giant net, simultaneously covering the millions of books in the entire library.
Words flowed through his consciousness, pouring in by the paragraph and chapter, like a tide washing over a beach.
From astronomy to geography.
Big Bang theory, stellar evolution, black hole thermodynamics, dark matter models.
From the formation of galaxies to plate tectonics, from stellar nuclear Fusion to the iron-nickel convection in the Earth's core.
He read that the Earth was just a mass of molten lava four point six billion years ago, read that the Moon might have been created by an impact, and read that when life was born at deep-sea hydrothermal vents, there was no oxygen in the atmosphere.
From physics to chemistry to biology.
From quantum mechanics to molecular bonds, from the DNA double helix to the Human Genome Project.
He read that particles only decide their state at the moment of observation, and read that every atom in the human body comes from the ashes of stars.
He continued.
From philosophy to the myriad phenomena.
From Plato's Cave to Descartes' skepticism, from Kant's starry sky and moral law to Nietzsche's Superman manifesto.
He read about what is real, what is the self, and what is consciousness.
From A Short History of Nearly Everything to Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind.
He read about the Universe exploding from a singularity, and read about how Homo sapiens walked out of East Africa.
He read about how that cognitive revolution seventy thousand years ago allowed the ancestors of humanity to suddenly acquire the ability to create fictional stories, believe in things that do not exist, and thereby cooperate on a large scale.
Every passage was about the same species constantly attempting to leap out of its own limitations to understand something greater.
Chen Mo flipped through them one by one.
Words and sentences poured into his perception like flowing water, even though not a single sentence in these books mentioned Spiritual Qi, not a single line involved a Force Field, and not half a page was written about Source Power.
But to draw inferences and gain insight, one needs heterogeneous Materials.
Then he came to the Huainanzi.
"The Heaven and Earth, the Universe, are of the same origin as the human body."
Chen Mo's gaze paused slightly on this line of text.
Something deep within his perception moved ever so slightly. Like a ripple on the water's surface that had not yet spread out.
He continued.
Zhi Bei You.
"The body has inner chambers, the mind has heavenly wanderings."
He felt as if he had grasped something.
He continued flipping through pages.
Until.
"Heaven and Earth are born with me, and the myriad things are one with me."
Boom.
In an instant, all the shackles in Chen Mo's heart shattered.
The entanglements stuck between the sense of Perfection and the sense of lack, the repeated deductions between "I need to find something" and "It is clearly right there."
All of it was blasted open in this instant by a vast and transparent power.
"The human body is itself an Inner World."
He finally understood.
This was never a metaphor.
It was not the Daoists saying pretty words.
It was fact.
It was physics.
It was the ultimate form a person could become.
The human body is an open System that constantly exchanges matter, energy, and information with the outside world.
Bones are mountains, blood is rivers, and cells are the countless inhabitants of metabolism.
Trillions of cells are undergoing hundreds of millions of biochemical reactions every second, energy flows across cell membranes, and matter transforms within the cytoplasm.
This is an Inner World. It has structure, cycles, rhythms, and an ecology.
And the so-called human body as a small Inner World is not about carving out an independent space from thin air.
It is the collection of everything in a person: flesh, bones, Mental Power, consciousness, and Source Power.
This collection itself is the Inner World.
The body is the mountains and rivers, and the Mental Power is the firmament.
The Inner World is not inside the body, nor is it outside the body.
It is the person themselves.
The moment he had this Epiphany, all contradictions dissolved simultaneously.
The sense of Perfection from fully mastering the body—that was true.
The sense of lack—that was also true.
Both were true, because only the body was in a state of Perfection.
But the body was only half of the Inner World.
The mountains and rivers were present, but the firmament had not yet been set.
Unity of Spirit and Flesh was not the end point.
The integration of body and Mental Power was only a step toward inward Fusion, not the final step of outward completion.
A true Breakthrough still required the Perfection of Mental Power.
And what is the Perfection of Mental Power?
Chen Mo could see it clearly now.
Everyone has long since achieved the Perfection of Mental Power.
When a person is born, their Mental Power is complete.
Infants cry, laugh, and sleep in their mother's arms.
They do not need to understand anything or master anything; their Mental Power is already there.
It is entirely present.
Then they grow up.
They experience things.
They have memories, traumas, obsessions, fears, regrets about the past, and anxieties about the future.
They wrap themselves up layer by layer with these things, wrapping until they finally forget what their original shape was.
It is not that the Mental Power lacks Perfection.
It is that the Mental Power is trapped by itself.
Trapped by the past.
Trapped by the future.
Trapped by various events, various people, and various emotions.
Everyone is.
And he himself was trapped by his parents.
His parents' car accident.
The long and quiet time after that. His uncle waiting for him at the door to come home, having made the dishes he loved.
He ate, spoke, and returned to his room.
Then day after day, year after year.
He pressed that pain to the very bottom of his consciousness, using rationality, self-discipline, and almost paranoid training to build himself into a wall.
The thicker the wall, the stronger he became.
But what was inside the wall was still there.
Just as the saying goes, "The tide comes in on the Qiantang River, and today I finally know that I am me."
When the tide surged up, that wall disappeared.
It was not broken; because he finally saw that it never needed to exist.
Chen Mo's Mental Power achieved Perfection at this moment.
There were no earth-shattering phenomena.
No brilliant radiance, no trembling of the earth.
Only an internal process, like a structure that had been compressed for too long, automatically unfolding the moment it found the correct way to arrange itself.
Natural and perfect.
Returning to simplicity.
He was no longer just controlling his body.
He was no longer just connecting to his Mental Power.
He had completely mastered the self.
Mastered the thorough confirmation of "Who am I."
Including the deepest memories, the longing for his parents, and those emotions he had never faced before.
All were within his perception; not a single part was rejected, not a single part was suppressed; all were accepted into the order of the Inner World.
Then, body and Mental Power began to truly undergo Fusion.
Not the integration of Unity of Spirit and Flesh.
It was Fusion.
The body was the mountains and rivers, the Mental Power was the firmament, and the Source Power, Force Field, force-generating chains, perception, every ounce of strength, and every wisp of will that Chen Mo had previously kept independent outside...
All of this was taken into the Inner World at this moment.
The Force Field was no longer an "extension of body and Mental Power."
Source Power was no longer "energy flowing in the Meridians."
The artificial line of classification between them and Chen Mo was erased in the instant of Mental Power Perfection.
The true Force Field unfolded at this moment.
No trigger conditions were needed.
There was not even a need for the action of "unfolding."
It was Chen Mo's very way of existing.
Where the mind goes, the Force Field arrives; where the body goes, the Source Power follows the thought; the Force Field gathers and disperses.
All power was a seamless whole, with no distinction between inside and outside, no division between you and me.
The Inner World was the Force Field, and the Force Field was the Inner World.
Following the heart's desire, changing in a myriad of ways.
Chen Mo sat in the chair in the corner of the library.
Sunlight shone in from the skylight, landing on his shoulders.
His eyes opened, and the depths of his pupils were as quiet as an ancient well of a thousand years.
This time, he was not looking for a new path again.
He had arrived.
When he walked out of the library, the sycamore leaves at the entrance were flipping their white undersides in the afternoon breeze.
Chen Mo did not fly.
He walked slowly along the deserted street toward the distance, the soles of his shoes stepping on the concrete road, every step clear and distinct.
The true Force Field.
Inner World.
The human body is itself an Inner World.
He silently recited these words.
The first step had been taken.
But this was only the first step.
The road still extended forward.
Only now, he finally saw clearly what was beneath his feet.
