70: Chapter 70 The Pinnacle of the World

When leaving New York, the sky had already darkened.

Chen Mo flew eastward through the night sky, with the Atlantic Ocean spreading out beneath him into an endless darkness, occasionally illuminated by the flickering lights of cargo ships on the sea surface.

He flew over the Western Continent.

The snowy peaks of the Alps formed a silver-white arc under the moonlight, with the silhouette of one peak being exceptionally sharp—the Matterhorn.

Its mountain body was a near-perfect pyramid shape, with four steep slopes converging at the summit into a sharp point, like a spearhead piercing from the earth toward the sky.

The King of Mountains.

Chen Mo slowed down and landed on the summit.

The summit was very small, only big enough for a few people to stand on, and the accumulated snow had been blown hard as ice by the wind.

He sat cross-legged on the rocks at the summit, retracted his Force Field, and let the wind and snow strike his face directly.

He sat in the darkness for the entire night, simply watching.

The night wind swept across the summit, carrying snowflakes and rock debris, emitting a low whistle beneath the starry sky.

The plains of the Western Continent spread out beneath his feet, and the lights of distant cities looked like stars scattered on the ground.

The Milky Way spanned the sky overhead; without light pollution or cloud cover, the stars were so dense that it was hard to distinguish individual points of light.

The sky in the west began to change color, first a deep cobalt blue, then seeping in a line of orange-red, lighting up the snowy peaks of the Alps one by one.

The body of the Matterhorn was dyed gold by the sunlight, the entire mountain looking like a burning torch.

He stood up, etched this scene into his memory, and then left the summit.

Over the next day, he flew over the Iguazu Falls and Victoria Falls on the Southern Continent, as well as the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru in Oceania.

Iguazu Falls poured down from the basalt cliffs, with hundreds of water columns crashing into the valley simultaneously, sending mist rising hundreds of meters into the air.

The Zambezi River at Victoria Falls had even more water during the rainy season; the entire river crashed down from the edge of the hundred-meter-high rift, the force of the impact at the bottom making the rock walls tremble.

Under the nourishment of Spiritual Qi, the coral colonies of the Great Barrier Reef spread wider than any records indicated, and the fluorescence of the coral polyps cast patches of pale blue halos in the shallow waters.

The red sandstone of Uluru looked like a piece of red-hot iron in the setting sun, and the surrounding drought-resistant plants were advancing into the sandy land at a speed far exceeding normal.

He observed them one by one, kept them all in his heart, and then flew toward his final destination.

Mount Everest.

As the snowy peaks of the Himalayas unfolded before his eyes, Chen Mo reduced his speed and ascended along the ridgeline of the mountain range.

The black, pyramid-shaped body of Mount Everest protruded from the surrounding peaks.

He stood at the summit, his feet resting on rocks at an altitude of over 8,800 meters.

This was the highest point on the earth's surface, and the highest place ordinary people could reach on foot, but it was not the highest place humans had ever been.

The highest point was not beneath his feet, but in the human brain.

The sea of clouds beneath his feet spread out in all directions like an endless white velvet blanket, covering the entire low-altitude world.

Distant peaks looked like isolated islands, poking their black rocky tips out of the sea of clouds.

The moon rose slowly in the eastern sky, casting a silver-white luster over the sea of clouds.

He had flown to the Kármán line and dived to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Now standing at the summit of Mount Everest, he had measured the three extremes of the Earth's surface—the highest, the deepest, and the furthest—with his own body.

Connecting these three coordinates outlined the trajectory of his past few months and also allowed him to see a more distant direction.

During this global trip, he had seen too much.

A twelve-meter orca plowed through giant waves with its tail in the ocean.

A fifteen-meter giant squid hunted mutant krill above a deep-sea rift.

The magma chamber of Mount Fuji was quietly heating up, and the underground magma reservoir of Yellowstone was shifting slightly in its deep slumber.

Seawater flooded into the ancient squares of Venice, and the snowy peaks of the Alps lit up one after another at sunrise.

This world was changing at an unprecedented speed, and human cities were shrinking and reorganizing.

Animal body sizes were breaking through growth limits, and geological activity was becoming more frequent and intense under the nourishment of Spiritual Qi.

These were all things that had already happened in the past few months.

Looking ahead a few years, a dozen years, or several decades, no one could predict what this planet would become.

He remembered the Human Breathing Method he had summarized.

That manual was now locked in a top-secret filing cabinet in Xia Country.

Cheng Jian was repeatedly refining the basic movements in a laboratory in Jing City.

Once he practiced and developed his own Rhythm frequency, there would be a first reference for the advanced development of the Human Breathing Method.

But that was just the starting point.

What was truly important was that in this new era, everything that was once held as the upper limit was being rewritten.

Animals could break through growth limits, humans could break through the limits of lifespan and Physique, and the Earth could break through the limits of its ecological carrying capacity.

In the future, everything is possible.

The true era of evolution had arrived.

This was destined to be an incredibly spectacular era.

Human technology would not necessarily remain at the peak forever.

Spiritual Energy Revival would not favor any single species.

It was only responsible for acceleration, regardless of where the destination lay.

Animal strength would not always lag behind; if the twelve-meter orca continued to grow, and sperm whales and giant squids continued to mutate.

No one could say for sure what would appear in the ocean twenty years later.

Spiritual Energy Revival would bring countless changes, each of which could alter the balance of power between species.

But there was one thing that would never change.

If you fall behind, you will be beaten.

This Law had never changed in any era or between any species.

Chen Mo also did not know what changes the future would bring.

But he trusted in his own strength.

During these two days of global travel, he had flown tens of thousands of kilometers, crossing over a dozen countries and entering dozens of cities and laboratories, yet not a single person had discovered his tracks.

Human technology could no longer lock onto him; it could not detect or track him, so there was no talk of striking him.

Various powerful weapons were nothing more than decorations to Chen Mo.

He was already the strongest individual on Earth, and he was becoming stronger every day.

But this would not become capital for him to be arrogant and unbridled.

Chen Mo had never sought the pleasure of crushing others, nor did he have any interest in standing at the top of the crowd looking down upon all living beings.

What he wanted had always been very simple: a stable world.

The world moving forward according to its natural Rhythm.

Humans and animals each finding their own place in the torrent of evolution.

He wanted to see where Spiritual Energy Revival would lead the Earth—ten years, a hundred years from now, what this land and ocean would become.

There were even deeper questions.

Would there be other intelligent beings in the Universe?

Would there be higher life forms many orders of magnitude stronger than humans?

Where did Spiritual Energy Revival come from?

Was there a source in deep space, or was it some more fundamental Law of the Universe?

No one could answer these questions for him.

He could only discover and explore them himself.

With his abilities, the sea of stars was not a fantasy, but a ladder that could be climbed step by step.

First leave this planet, then leave this galaxy, go to the deeper corners of the Universe, and find the answers to all of this.

Chen Mo stood at the summit, slowly exhaling a breath of white air.

In the thin air, the white air instantly condensed into ice crystals and drifted away.

The sea of clouds surged beneath his feet, and the stars rotated above his head.

The rocks beneath his feet were limestone that had been pushed up from the seabed when the Indian Plate collided with the Eurasian Plate fifty million years ago.

The two continents had once been separated by an ocean; now they had collided, pushing this mountain peak to the highest point in the world.

He thought that he, too, would collide into even higher places.

Chen Mo leaped from the summit of Mount Everest, crashing through the wind and snow, and flew toward the Mariana Trench.
