29: Chapter 29: Success! A Single Blow!

Zhou Jingtang looked at Su Ye, a flash of satisfaction crossing his eyes.

The hospital room fell silent for a moment. The gray-haired old man slowly stood up, raised his hand to straighten his sleeves, and fixed his gaze out the window as if looking at a very distant place.

"I am already old; the era that belonged to me has passed."

His voice was calm, without the slightest hint of self-pity. Looking at Su Ye, he saw a flower similar to himself and felt quite sentimental.

Zhou Jingtang was once a medical genius himself, full of vigor and the subject of many stories. In this life, he could be considered a legend. Now that he was old, his thinking had solidified and his reactions had slowed; he had to admit that the new generation excels the old.

However, even with his age, his experience, vision, and that solid, almost terrifying accumulation were things the younger generation could not hope to reach.

Some things cannot be learned from books.

Nor can they be tested in exams.

One must perform surgeries cut by cut, walk step by step, and endure year after year to truly immerse oneself.

Zhou Jingtang turned his head and looked at Su Ye, his gaze softening slightly.

"You are quite good."

"Quick-witted, active in your thinking, daring to think and daring to act. What's even rarer is that you aren't impetuous. Among young people, there aren't many who can do that."

Su Ye felt a jolt in his heart and stood up straight.

As Zhou Jingtang prepared to leave, he said before departing:

"I will be returning to the hospital a few times recently. When the time comes, I'll have the hospital notify you in advance."

Zhou Jingtang had actually already retired. However, the meaning behind these words was clear: he was coming out of retirement. The reason, naturally, was because Su Ye had sparked his desire to nurture talent.

Su Ye was pleasantly surprised. He was genuinely impressed by Zhou Jingtang. Although he currently felt like he was using a cheat, Zhou Jingtang was, after all, a medical titan with decades of practice. The knowledge, experience, and judgment in his head were the most precious treasures.

Just now in the ward, every word Zhou Jingtang spoke was exceptionally precise, born from experience.

Li Yuefeng's condition was a 'new field' after all!

Su Ye suppressed the waves in his heart and said solemnly:

"Thank you, Elder Zhou."

Zhou Jingtang smiled and waved his hand.

"No need for thanks. I'm already old; it's rare to see a promising sprout that catches my eye."

After saying that, he turned and left. His pace wasn't fast as he walked further away. The rapid sound of high heels echoed from downstairs; it was the old man's daughter coming to pick him up.

...

Exiting the ward, Su Ye walked along the corridor.

The scene from just now kept replaying in his mind: the tremors in Li Yuefeng's forearm muscles, the compression of force, the resonance between fascia and muscle fibers, and the dense ripples vibrating across the water's surface in the cup when that final palm strike landed.

Illness and technique are truly separated by only a thin line.

As he was thinking, he suddenly ran into a familiar figure.

Vice President Zhao.

The Vice President seemed to be in an excellent mood today, his face glowing and his steps lighter than usual. When he saw Su Ye, his eyes immediately lit up.

"Su Ye!"

Su Ye stopped: "President."

Vice President Zhao walked over quickly, the smile on his face impossible to suppress.

"Elder Zhou Jingtang just told me that he'll be coming to the hospital to oversee things and look into several cases recently. The old gentleman is coming out of retirement! This is a monumental event for the hospital!"

He was clearly quite excited.

And for good reason.

A figure of Zhou Jingtang's level was no longer just an 'expert' to the hospital; he was a living brand, a symbol of prestige, a deep foundation, and one of the backbones of the entire hospital. Usually, if the old man was willing to keep his name on the roster and offer occasional guidance, it was already considered giving plenty of face.

But now, Elder Zhou was actually willing to come out of retirement for consultations and even come to the hospital in person.

For The First Peoples Hospital, this was simply an unexpected boon.

Vice President Zhao understood even better that the root of all this was actually Su Ye.

Elder Zhou was considering taking him as a disciple!

Thinking of this, the way Vice President Zhao looked at Su Ye changed.

This was no mere Standardized Resident Trainee.

This was practically their hospital's lucky star.

Vice President Zhao patted Su Ye's shoulder, his voice carrying a smile:

"Keep working hard, your future is limitless! I have high hopes for you!"

Su Ye felt like laughing but held it in, merely saying politely:

"The President overpraises me."

"Not at all," Vice President Zhao waved his hand. "Just focus on learning from Elder Zhou. The hospital will handle everything else for you, understand?"

"Understood."

After a few more words, Vice President Zhao left, satisfied.

The corridor became quiet again.

"Phew, things are finally looking up for me."

"However, right now I want to verify something even more!" Su Ye's eyes were burning, his fingers trembling uncontrollably.

...

A moment later.

Su Ye arrived at an open space.

This place was behind the inpatient department. Few people came here normally, and it was shielded by old walls with a limited field of vision, making it very suitable for briefly testing things.

He first stood in place, his Mental Energy slowly spreading out.

His perception spread out like a layer of invisible ripples. After confirming no one was around, Su Ye finally let out a long breath.

In his mind, the insights from the ward earlier began to surge continuously.

"When an ordinary person exerts force, it's the connection of tendons and bones, the succession of muscle groups—the force travels a long line."

"But Li Yuefeng is different."

"His evolved musculoskeletal structure allows the force scattered within the fascia, muscle fibers, and motor units to complete resonance, bundling, and unification within a single breath, finally collapsing into a square inch and exploding at a single point."

Su Ye closed his eyes, simulating it over and over in his mind.

Tendons and bones, muscle groups, fascia, motor units.

Convergence, compression, collapse.

Then unification.

"It's a good thing I studied medicine."

He suddenly chuckled.

If it were anyone else, even if they saw the prototype of this 'technique,' they would at most think it was powerful or mysterious. They might not be able to dismantle, understand, or even replicate it in a short time.

But Su Ye was different.

He understood the human body.

He understood muscles.

He understood neural recruitment.

He understood what the synchronization of motor units meant.

His mind raced as his Mental Energy flowed slowly through his body, beginning to control his force exertion patterns bit by bit.

Shoulder, elbow, wrist.

Chest and back, waist and abdomen, legs and hips.

The force wasn't struck out directly; instead, it was first retracted, then vibrated, then gathered.

Like pressing inward layer by layer.

Compressed to the extreme, then released.

Su Ye's gaze sharpened, and his right fist suddenly struck out!

Boom!

A low rumble of thunder instantly exploded in the air.

It was a shorter, muffled, and more concentrated blast, as if something directly in front of his fist had been forcibly blown apart.

The surrounding ground seemed to tremble slightly along with it.

Several withered leaves on the ground nearby were jolted upward, spinning as they flew away.

In the more distant corridor, someone suddenly looked up.

"Was that thunder?"

"Where did thunder come from?"

But when they poked their head out to look...

The sky was clear for ten thousand miles, and the sun was shining brightly.

Looking down again, there was no longer any figure in that open space.

Only the wind was still blowing slowly.

Meanwhile, Su Ye was already standing in the shadows, slowly withdrawing his fist, a light gradually rising in his eyes.

It worked.

It wasn't complete.

It could only be considered an extremely rough prototype.

But this punch had truly captured the essence of 'collapsing scattered force into a single point.' Its power was several times greater than his previous air strikes! And even more terrifying was the instantaneous explosive power within it—an unimaginable destructive force!

Su Ye looked down at the surface of his fist. Beneath the knuckles, a faint heat had yet to dissipate. He had touched something.

A technique.

A technique that truly belonged to a practitioner.

The corners of his mouth slowly curled up.
