54: Chapter 54 Seeing Injustice on the Road!

By the time work ended, it wasn't completely dark yet.

Outside the building of The First Peoples Hospital, lights flickered on one by one. The glass doors opened and closed incessantly as white-coated doctors, patients, family members, delivery riders, and orderlies pushing gurneys mingled together, making the hospital entrance exceptionally bustling.

Su Ye walked out of the outpatient building with his backpack on.

Today wasn't too busy, but his mind hadn't rested for a moment. He began to recall the day's patients. Among them was a young man with nervous twitches who made Su Ye think another pathology like Li Yuefeng's had appeared. However, Su Ye ultimately determined that the person wasn't an "External Manifestation Evolution," which made him realize his nerves were wound too tight. Ever since he had comprehended Inch Power from Li Yuefeng's body, Su Ye had become exceptionally sensitive to neurological disorders, but he couldn't be blamed for that.

It was the result of the times.

Su Ye raised a hand to rub the back of his neck, his expression calm and his pace steady.

"If you don't come soon, the meat will be charred!!! Big Boss Su! You love BBQ, so why aren't you being more proactive!" Wang Dandan was treating them today, and she was currently bombarding Su Ye in the group chat.

"I'll be there soon! Just finished some overtime."

Su Ye quickened his pace and put away his phone. But just then, a commotion broke out in the distance, and a crowd quickly gathered.

The noise suddenly grew much louder.

Su Ye looked up and, without stopping, followed the flow of people over.

...

A circle of people had already formed at the street corner.

The voices were clamorous, a sea of phones was held high, and the crowd was packed several layers deep, as if some exciting event had suddenly erupted.

Su Ye was a bit curious and approached along with the crowd.

"Hold him down! Don't let him get away! Robbery in broad daylight? This is too brazen!"

Su Ye's eyebrows twitched slightly.

A robbery?

In broad daylight; he certainly had some nerve.

He walked forward a few more steps.

This time, through the gaps between the people in front, he finally saw the scene inside.

A man was pinned to the ground.

He was in his thirties, not very tall but built strong with a thick neck and prominent muscles on his arms. He wore a faded short-sleeved shirt with a hole at the shoulder. His right hand was tightly clutching a woman's shoulder bag, veins bulging on the back of his hand, and his knuckles turning white from the exertion.

"Who are you! Sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, huh!" His voice was filled with shock and anger.

Boom!

Pa!

The young man was wearing a black tracksuit and looked to be in his early twenties. The hair on his forehead was slightly messy, his breathing was a bit hurried, and his gaze was sharp. One of his legs was pressed against the robber's waist, his knee pinning the man's lower body. His left hand pressed down on the other's shoulder blade while his right hand pinned the man's wrist, locking him firmly to the ground with agile movements.

Not far away, a young girl was clutching her phone. Her eyes were red, and her chest was heaving violently, clearly having not yet recovered from the shock.

Her bag strap was partially broken and her hair was disheveled, indicating that the struggle just now had been quite intense.

"Thank you... thank you..." she said with a trembling, tearful voice. "If it weren't for you, my bag and phone would be gone. I was scared to death..."

The man on the ground was still struggling, his face pressed against the pavement and the bridge of his nose rubbed red. Yet he continued to curse, his voice muffled and slurred, like a vicious dog being pressed into the mud.

"Let go of me! You fucking..."

The young man ignored him, merely applying a bit more pressure with his hand.

The robber let out a muffled groan, and half his face turned pale.

The surrounding people finally breathed a sigh of relief and began to chatter.

"This young man is really impressive."

"That guy snatched the bag and ran off so fast, but this young man caught up in just a few moves. His actions were very sharp."

"Fortunately he was here, otherwise that girl's things would never have been recovered. What kind of society is this where people like that still exist? Honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd think I was abroad."

Su Ye stood on the periphery of the crowd, watching everything with a calm gaze.

Mental Energy spread out silently.

The outlines of the crowd, the shadows of the streetlights, the wind stirred by distant cars, and the extremely subtle rhythms within the young man's body instantly became clear in his perception.

As expected.

This young man was also someone who had come into contact with the "Extraordinary."

Although his contact wasn't deep, subduing a thuggish robber was still effortless.

The corners of Su Ye's mouth curled up slightly.

Interesting.

If it were ten odd days ago, seeing such a person on the street would have likely set off alarm bells in his head.

But now, he had adapted.

A person who had touched the "Extraordinary," standing in a crowd, standing up for a stranger, pinning down a robber, and winning a round of applause.

Perhaps others simply thought he was a young man with slightly better physical skills.

It's good.

At least it proved that the changes in this world wouldn't necessarily only go in a bad direction.

Just as this thought surfaced, Su Ye's gaze suddenly froze.

Still not behaving.

...

Just now, Ye Zixiao had suddenly seen someone being robbed on the street, so he directly intervened. What a joke—he now had the long-lasting strength from touching the 'Extraordinary,' and it was meant for moments like this! However, after subduing the robber, he felt embarrassed by the praise from the surrounding people.

Just then.

"Watch out."

A voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz suddenly rang in Ye Zixiao's ear, sounding an alarm. His hair stood on end, and he violently twisted his waist, barely moving himself half an inch out of the path of that blade.

The man pinned to the ground had suddenly produced a dagger, lunging at Ye Zixiao like a venomous snake.

Chila.

The blade grazed the corner of his clothes, cutting only a long, thin slit.

Just a hair's breadth away.

The young man's back was instantly drenched in cold sweat.

His smugness from the 'Extraordinary' receded like a tide. He had still been too arrogant; he had only just touched upon this path. A tiny bit of physical transformation had made him overconfident, and he had almost met with disaster!

"Still not behaving!"

Ye Zixiao's eyes turned cold. He pressed his elbow down hard and flipped his wrist, directly grabbing the hand holding the knife. With a thrust of his knee, he violently pinned the man back to the ground.

Bang!

This pressure was much heavier than before.

The robber groaned, his face turning blue, and the knife fell to the ground with a "clang."

The surrounding crowd immediately erupted in cheers.

"Good!"

"That scared me to death!"

"This young man is awesome!"

But the young man had no heart to listen to any of it.

He immediately looked up, searching in the direction of the "watch out." That voice just now seemed to have flowed directly into his brain; no one around had heard it, yet he had heard it so clearly. Who was it? Who saved my life?

There were many people.

The lights were chaotic.

However, Ye Zixiao saw a figure. Though it was only a back, it made him feel a sense of unfathomable depth. It was him—yes, there was no mistake—this terrifying feeling!

In this instant, Ye Zixiao felt as if the gates of the 'Extraordinary' were opening toward him, and an existence already standing inside the gates had glanced at him!

Ye Zixiao hurriedly pushed through the crowd, ignoring the strange expressions of the people around him, and chased after that silhouette.

"Wait!"

But by the time he burst out of the crowd, traffic was flowing on the street and lights were flickering. With a mere blink, that figure had already vanished into the shadows of the people.

"That's right. If an existence of that level truly didn't want me to see them, how could I possibly catch up?"

Ye Zixiao stood in place, panting slightly.

Yet his eyes grew brighter and brighter.

Jiang City, though not large, was a place of hidden dragons and crouching tigers. The big shot who had slaughtered the cat demon that day, and this big shot who had just warned him, were both incredibly terrifying.

"No matter what the future holds, at least with so many big shots around, I don't need to panic." He chuckled softly, as if finding closure. No one knew what the world would become in the future. If he were walking alone, he would ultimately be afraid. But now it was different; hidden behind the scenes of this city were too many powerful existences.

If the sky falls, the tall ones will hold it up!

In the next moment, Su Ye had already appeared at another location, getting closer and closer to the BBQ restaurant.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Just as he walked into the restaurant, he saw Wang Luo splashing oil onto Wang Dandan, causing her to erupt in an angry scolding.

"Seriously, Wang Luo, is your mouth leaking?!"

Su Ye let out a faint smile.
