84: Chapter 85 Eun-jung's Test
Qian Xu stood at Jeon Bo-ram's doorstep.
Looking at her swollen, red eyes, his heart tightened.
"Boram-xi, you really misunderstood."
"So-yeon did indeed confess to me last night."
"But I didn't agree to her."
Jeon Bo-ram lifted her head, her eyes showing some surprise.
"You didn't agree?"
"Right."
Qian Xu nodded.
"I told her, 'Let me think about it.' Then I went home."
Jeon Bo-ram looked at him.
"Really?"
"Really."
Qian Xu smiled.
"Why would I lie to you?"
Jeon Bo-ram lowered her head, her fingers twisting the hem of her pajamas.
"Then you..."
"Have you decided?"
Qian Xu looked at her.
"I have."
"I will make things clear with So-yeon tonight."
"I don't like her."
"My feelings for her are just the concern of a boss for an artist."
Jeon Bo-ram froze.
"Really?"
"Really."
Qian Xu nodded.
"So, stop crying."
"Your eyes look bad when they're swollen."
Jeon Bo-ram blushed.
"Who's crying!"
"I'm not crying!"
"I just didn't sleep well!"
Qian Xu smiled.
"Alright, alright."
"You're not crying."
"Shall we have breakfast together?"
Jeon Bo-ram hesitated for a moment.
"Okay."
"Wait for me to change."
Fifteen minutes later, the two were sitting in the cafe downstairs.
Jeon Bo-ram was wearing a white hoodie, her hair tied in a ponytail.
Her eyes were still a bit swollen, but she seemed much better.
"Mr. Qian."
She picked up her coffee.
"Are you really going to make things clear with So-yeon tonight?"
"Yes."
Qian Xu nodded.
"Dragging it out isn't good for anyone."
"She deserves someone better."
Jeon Bo-ram looked at him, her eyes somewhat complex.
"Do you..."
"Really have no feelings for her?"
Qian Xu thought for a moment.
"So-yeon is a good girl."
"Pretty, gentle, sings well."
"But things like feeling a spark..."
"It's not something that just happens because someone has good qualities."
Jeon Bo-ram lowered her head.
"Then who do you feel a spark for?"
Qian Xu paused, looked at her, and didn't speak.
Jeon Bo-ram blushed.
"Pretend I didn't ask."
She lowered her head to drink her coffee, her ears turning red.
Nine in the morning. Apgujeong, Yunmengze Building.
Qian Xu walked into the office. Kim Min-jun was already waiting.
"Mr. Qian, good morning."
"Morning."
Qian Xu sat down.
"What's on the schedule for today?"
"Ten in the morning," Kim Min-jun opened his notebook.
"Interview with Korean media."
"Two in the afternoon, inventory check at the Hongdae store."
"Seven in the evening, you have dinner scheduled with Ms. Soyeon."
Qian Xu nodded.
"Okay."
"You handle the coordination for the interview."
"I need to take care of some things first."
Kim Min-jun nodded and walked out of the office.
Qian Xu sat in his chair, looking out the window.
His mind was filled with last night's events.
So-yeon's confession. Boram's tears.
He sighed.
His phone vibrated. It was a message from Eunjung.
"Mr. Qian, are you at the company?"
Qian Xu replied, "Yes. Is something up?"
"Yes. I'm coming to your office."
"Okay."
A few minutes later, Eunjung knocked and entered.
She was wearing a black suit, her hair tied in a low ponytail.
Her expression was somewhat serious.
"Ms. Eun-jung, sit."
Qian Xu pointed to the chair opposite him.
Eunjung sat down, looking at him without speaking.
"What's wrong?" Qian Xu asked. "Your expression is so serious."
Eunjung took a deep breath.
"Mr. Qian, I have something to ask you."
"Go ahead."
"You and So-yeon..." Eunjung looked at him.
"Are you together?"
Qian Xu paused. "How did you know?"
"After the celebration banquet last night," Eunjung said.
"So-yeon didn't leave with us."
"She said she had something to tell you."
"She sent me a message this morning saying she confessed."
Qian Xu leaned back in his chair.
"So you came to ask about the outcome?"
"Yes." Eunjung nodded. "Are you two together?"
Qian Xu looked at her. "No."
Eunjung froze. "No?"
"Right." Qian Xu shook his head. "I didn't agree to her."
Eunjung frowned. "Why? So-yeon likes you so much."
"You have no feelings for her?"
Qian Xu thought for a moment.
"So-yeon is a good girl. But for me, it's just the concern of a boss for an artist. There's no spark."
Eunjung looked at him, her eyes somewhat complex.
"Then do you have someone you feel a spark for?"
Qian Xu paused and didn't speak.
Eunjung smiled. "I understand."
"What do you understand?"
"Nothing."
Eunjung stood up. "Mr. Qian, congratulations."
"Congratulations?" Qian Xu was stunned. "Congratulations for what?"
"Congratulations," Eunjung smiled. "For finding someone you feel a spark for."
She turned around and walked to the door, then stopped. She looked back at him.
"Mr. Qian. As for So-yeon... what do you plan to do?"
"I'll make it clear to her tonight," Qian Xu said. "We have dinner scheduled."
Eunjung nodded. "Speak nicely. Don't hurt her."
"Yes," Qian Xu nodded. "I will."
Eunjung walked out of the office, closed the door, and stood in the hallway.
She took a deep breath, her eyes somewhat complex.
She took out her phone and messaged So-yeon.
"So-yeon, did Mr. Qian ask you to dinner tonight?"
So-yeon replied quickly. "Yes. He said he has something to tell me."
Eunjung looked at the screen, her finger hovering. Then she typed a line.
"Have a good talk. No matter the outcome, you deserve to be loved."
So-yeon replied, "Thank you, Eunjung."
In the office, Qian Xu sat in his chair, looking in the direction Eunjung had left.
Her expression just now had been a bit off, but he didn't think much of it.
His phone vibrated. It was a message from So-yeon.
"Mr. Qian, 7:00 PM. That Samgyetang place in Cheongdam-dong. I'll be waiting for you."
Qian Xu replied, "Okay. See you tonight."
He put down his phone, leaned back in his chair, and looked at the ceiling.
Tonight, he had to make things clear. He couldn't drag this out any longer.
