95: Chapter 96: So-yeon appears in "Yoo Hee-yeol's Sketchbook"
The Chinese version of "a little happiness" has been online for three days.
Views exceeded 3 million.
It climbed to 8th on Naver hot searches.
Qian Xu sat in the office, looking at the data, and smiled.
His phone vibrated. It was a call from Kim Min-jun.
"Mr. Qian, something big has happened."
"What is it?"
"It's about KBS." Kim Min-jun's voice was a bit excited. "The 'You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook' production team just contacted me. They said they want to invite Ms. Soyeon to record the show."
Qian Xu was stunned. ""You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook"?"
"Yes," Kim Min-jun said. "Korea's top music talk show. Only big stars get to go on it. They saw Ms. Soyeon's Chinese version of "a little happiness". They think it's very topical and want to invite her for a special stage."
Qian Xu stood up. "When?"
"This Friday," Kim Min-jun said. "That's the day after tomorrow. Recording starts at 7 PM at the KBS Annex."
Qian Xu looked at the calendar. "Okay. I'll tell Ms. Soyeon myself."
Hanging up the phone, Qian Xu walked out of the office and drove to Hongdae.
STAGE 28. Rehearsal was still underway.
On stage, six people were practicing dance. Park So-yeon stood in the center, her movements clean and sharp.
Qian Xu pushed the door and went in.
Ham Eun-jung saw him first. "Mr. Qian? Why are you here?"
"I have something to tell Ms. Soyeon." Qian Xu smiled. "Can you stop for a moment?"
The six people stopped. Park So-yeon wiped her sweat and walked over.
"Mr. Qian, what's wrong?"
"I have some good news." Qian Xu looked at her. "KBS "You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook" wants to invite you to record."
Park So-yeon was stunned. "What?"
""You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook"," Qian Xu repeated. "Korea's top music show. They saw your Chinese version of "a little happiness" and want to invite you for a special stage."
Park So-yeon stood there, her hands trembling. "Really?"
"Really," Qian Xu nodded. "Representative Kim just got the call. Recording is this Friday."
Park So-yeon's eyes turned red. ""You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook"... a show I've dreamed of appearing on... It's been six years... I thought I'd never have a chance in this lifetime..."
Boram ran over and hugged her. "Unnie! You did it! You're finally going on that show!"
Ham Eun-jung also walked over, her eyes red. "So-yeon, this is what you deserve. You waited six years. You finally waited for it."
Park So-yeon lowered her head, her shoulders shaking. She cried.
Qian Xu stood to the side, watching her. He felt warm inside. This girl... she was truly shining.
"Ms. Soyeon, stop crying. Recording is the day after tomorrow. You have two days to prepare."
Park So-yeon looked up and wiped her tears. "I'm ready. That song... I've already sung it a thousand times. I can sing it with my eyes closed."
Qian Xu smiled. "That's good. Then let's stop rehearsals for today. Go back and rest. Take care of your voice. Sing well the day after tomorrow."
Park So-yeon nodded. "Okay."
In the evening, Qian Xu drove Park So-yeon home. The car stopped downstairs at the Cheongdam-dong apartment building.
Park So-yeon sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window.
"Mr. Qian."
"Hmm?"
"Thank you." Park So-yeon turned her head to look at him. "If it weren't for you, I might not have been able to get on that show in this lifetime."
Qian Xu smiled. "It's because you sang well yourself. I only gave you the opportunity."
Park So-yeon looked at him, her eyes gentle. "Regardless, thank you."
She opened the car door and got out. After walking a few steps, she stopped and looked back at him.
"Mr. Qian, will you come the day after tomorrow?"
"Yes," Qian Xu nodded. "I will definitely be there."
Park So-yeon smiled, then turned and walked into the apartment building.
Friday, 6:30 PM. KBS Annex.
When Qian Xu arrived, Kim Min-jun was already at the entrance.
"Mr. Qian, Ms. Soyeon is inside doing her makeup. The production team takes it very seriously. They gave her a separate waiting room."
"Good," Qian Xu nodded. "Let's go in and see."
Inside the waiting room, Park So-yeon sat in front of the vanity mirror. The stylist was doing her hair. She was wearing a white dress, her hair slightly curled. She wore light makeup and looked very gentle.
"Mr. Qian!" She saw him in the mirror and smiled. "You're here."
"Hmm." Qian Xu walked over. "Are you nervous?"
"A little," Park So-yeon smiled. "But I'm more expectant. I've waited for this day for six years."
Qian Xu looked at her. "Today, you will make everyone remember you."
Park So-yeon's eyes were slightly red. "Thank you."
7:00 PM. Recording started.
In the studio of "You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook", the lighting was soft. The audience was full.
You Hee-yeol stood on stage holding a microphone. "Today's guest is a special friend. She waited for six years and finally stood on stage again. Her voice stunned all of Korea. Please welcome, Park So-yeon."
The lights dimmed. In the center of the stage, a beam of white light shone down. Park So-yeon stood in front of the microphone, holding it. She closed her eyes.
The prelude played. It was the Chinese version of "a little happiness".
She opened her eyes and began to sing. Her voice was clear, as if she were telling a story. A story about waiting. A story about reunion.
"I hear raindrops falling on the green grass. I hear the school bell ringing in the distance."
Her voice was steady. Every word was clear. The audience was quiet. Everyone was watching her.
"But I didn't hear your voice, earnestly calling my name."
Her eyes turned red, but her voice didn't tremble. She continued to sing.
"When I fell in love with you, I didn't understand feelings. Only after parting did I feel it was unforgettable. Why didn't I realize that meeting you was the best thing in life?"
Someone in the audience cried. People were wiping away tears. You Hee-yeol stood on the side stage, looking at Park So-yeon on stage, his eyes also red.
Chorus part. Park So-yeon's voice erupted.
"Turns out you are the luck I most want to keep. Turns out we were once so close to love. That decision to fight the world for me, that rain we braved together, everything is you. A spotless heart."
The last note fell. The studio was quiet for three seconds. Then, in the audience, the first person stood up and applauded. The second person stood up. The third. The fourth. The entire audience stood up. The applause was like thunder. Someone shouted, "Encore! Encore! Encore!"
Park So-yeon stood on stage, looking at the audience. Everyone was applauding for her. Everyone was standing up for her. She lowered her head, tears falling, but there was a smile on her lips.
"Thank you everyone," she bowed. "Thank you."
Backstage, Park So-yeon walked down. Qian Xu stood at the end of the hallway, watching her. She walked over and stood in front of him.
"Mr. Qian. I finished singing. Not a single mistake." Her voice was trembling.
Qian Xu looked at her. "I know. You did it."
Park So-yeon lowered her head, her shoulders shaking. She cried. Qian Xu reached out and gently patted her shoulder.
"Let's go. Let's go celebrate."
Park So-yeon looked up, wiped her tears, and smiled. "Okay."
